JQuery :: Ajax - Can't Get "loading Please Wait" To Turn Off And The Page Freezes

Jan 2, 2011

I have a select drop down that triggers a change event to update my database. I am new at programming, so hopefully I am overlooking something obvious. My Jquery code actually works as desired to update the database, but when I try to add a overlayed "loading, please wait" message to the user, I can't get it to turn off and the page freezes. debugging the javascript in Firebug, It seems this code returns a 404 status, so it makes sense to me that my overlay will not turn off, but seems strange that the code updates the database as desired. what is wrong with this code? How can I get the overlay to turn off?

Ajax :: Call Freezes Page / Solution For This?

Jul 22, 2009

I am writing up a page to collect user input, and then generate an excel file.
The generation of the excel file is slow (more than 30 sec), so I decide to separate the input stage and file creation stage.

What I do is, collect user input, save to mysql, and pass a url (to the page of excel file creation) to javascript. Javascript will be triggered by setTimeout and run ajax to call the url after 2-3 seconds. This is the page structure of how I do it code...

The problem is, when the ajax is called, I cannot navigate around the pages (in the iframe of index.php). There is no error, but seems to be "loading". I have tried to use the same browser window to access the same site on the server, and also other sites on the Internet, to make sure the server is not busy to respond or the network is fully occupied.

JQuery :: Ajax Loader To Appear In Between Page Loading

Aug 19, 2009

I'm creating a site using AJAX and I would like for an ajax loader to appear in between the page loadings.
$("#menu ul li").click(function(event) {
$("#ajaxLoader").show(function(){
alert('hello');
});
setTimeout("jQuery.fn.test("about");", 3000);
});});
jQuery.fn.test = function(page) {
$("#content").load(page + ".html");
$("#ajaxLoader").hide(function(){
alert('good bye');
});};
This works perfectly the first time - the ajax loader appears for about three seconds before disappearing and instead the page is displayed. But the second, third, fourth ... time, the ajax loader never shows up.

JQuery :: Loading An Ajax-powered Aspx Page?

Nov 10, 2010

I can obviously load an aspx page into a div container thru .load jquery function. But, if the aspx page is already enginereed to work with aspnet ajax (scriptmanager,etc) , this is lost and the first postback cause all the page to reload. My question is, how can I import an aspx page into a div, maintaining its own ajax functions ? In case it's not possible, what's the best way to get same result?

JQuery :: Wait For Div Content To Load Via Ajax Before FadeIn

Mar 15, 2010

Just started working with jQuery and AJAX and I have a quick question regarding the fadeIn function.

I have a form that is submitted to a PHP page. The PHP processes the form (using a script from DHTMLsuite) and outputs text. Using AJAX this text is then shown in a div tag with the id #results on the same page as the initial form.

I have the following jQuery code:

Code:
<script>
$("#mySubmit").click(function () {
var formObj = new DHTMLSuite.form({

[Code]....

So, when the user clicks the "mySubmit" button the #results div will ade out, submit the form and then the #results div will fade in again. The problem I am having is this - the #results div fades back in before the dostuff.php page has finished executing so that the content of #results changes suddenly when the AJAX response comes back. What I want is for #results to fade out, the form gets submitted and comes back setting #results to the new content, then #results fades back in.

JQuery :: Submit Does Not Wait For Ajax Function To Check Form

May 19, 2010

I'm using the submit and ajax functions to check a form. When the form is submitted the submit event executes and within that event the data (a code the user has to fill in) is sent to the server to check if it's correct. If it is correct, the submit event supposes to return true (so the form submits), if it's incorrect the submit event supposes to return false (so submitting the form cancels).

Here's my code that should do this:
$(function(){
var submit = false;
$('#login').submit(function(){
$('span.error').fadeOut('slow');
$.ajax({
url: '/ajax/login',
type: 'POST',
data: 'code=' + $('#code').val(),
success: function(response){
if (response != ''){
$('span.error').fadeIn('slow').text(response);
submit = false;
}else{
submit = true;
}}})
return submit;
})});

But here's the problem: While jQuery does the ajax request, the script continues. So it will return false - even if the code is validated - because the var submit has been set to false at line 4. When I submit the form again, the form is validated because 'submit' is true (but that's set to true the first time). How can I ensure the submit function waits for the ajax request to finish?

JQuery :: Wait A Few Seconds Before Refreshing A Page?

Nov 18, 2011

Trying to figure out how to get my simple page re-load to pause for a couple seconds before sending the request. I tried $.wait() and think this could possibly be what I need but seem to not be using it correctly, as I have not had any success getting it to work.

[Code]...

Is there a specific place to put the $.wait()? or should I be using something different entirely to get the script to pause before sending the request to reload?

Ajax :: Lightbox - Loading Page ?

Mar 4, 2009

Recently, I've tried to use FancyBox (a zooming lightbox script - affects every image link of a given parent id) on a page where contents are loaded dynamically with jquery.

I init fancybox at the loading of the needed section - then, I click on the image link, fancybox's darker overlay appears for a sec, but then the target image itself loads (as if no script would be there). As it seems, FB was initalized, but is somehow not working... js debug shows nothing wrong.

Since the whole page is loaded dynamically with jquery, I can't really separate the problem - the script is working good when it's in static context. Before, I used a quite similar script FancyZoom, that worked without problem...

I've uploaded a working template below, if someone could give it a quick peek: [url] (on the site click the green, then the purple rectangle. the init can be found in js/script.js, in InitThree function)

AJAX Loading Div From External Page Into Div?

Nov 19, 2010

I have a page with some links and a div. When I click on one of those link I want it to load HTML into the empty div on that page. The HTML I want to load is on a different page (in the same dir). The different information that each link has to link has been divided into div on that source page.

I'm so far able to load the entire page in my div, but I just want the contents of one of the specific divs, depending on what link I click.

I got this far with the help from Google and a book but I'm stuck now.

This is the function I use to get the content.

Code:
function sendRequest(scriptFile, targetElement)
{
target = targetElement;
try{

[Code]....

sources.html is the source-page and details is the name from the target div where the content gets loaded into. Remember; this works but I want to specify divs instead of the entire page.

Ajax :: Wait Until Response Comes

Nov 15, 2008

I am using following code

Now what i want to do is: i have a callajax() function. with in this function i will call do_login() function. this do_login() handles an ajaxrequest and returns the responsetext.

Now i want to do some validation on this responsetext(in case of onsuccess). so i am trying to return value to callajax() function for onSuccess case in ajaxrequest.submit();

That is(onsuccess response) supposed to be some string( but not true or false). but i am always getting false in ajaxcall() function. i know the do_login() function is returning false before ajaxrequest completes

So i want to stop this and make do_login wait until ajaxrequest completes and then i want to return it's response to callajax() function.

AJAX :: Allow Images In The Chatroom - Not Allow To Turn Off The Auto-refresh?

Jul 26, 2011

I'm using AJAX to auto-refresh a chatroom. You can see it on the right of the following site: http:[url]...

The problem is, when large images are placed in the chatroom via BBCode, (temporarily disabled) when the chatroom refreshes, they flicker! This is caused by the AJAX reloading the content, which in turn reloads the image.Is there a workaround for this? I want to allow images in the chatroom, but I don't want to turn off the auto-refresh. Below is the code I am running to refresh the chatroom:

Javascript Code:
Original
- Javascript Code
function update()
{[code]....

Basically, what it does is reloads chatQuery.php and currentlyOnlineQuery.php every 5 seconds, or when a chat message is submitted.

JQuery :: Basic Page Loading DIV - Full Window DIV That Sits Above All The Content With A Loading Icon

I have a site that is very jQuery and image heavy. The main sections of the site link to sections that are built with several Tabs, and as it loads, you briefly see all the content load and then it is hidden by the Tabs code.

The plan is to have a full window DIV that sits above all the content with a loading icon that plays until the entire page loads, and then it fades down.

After some hair pulling and research I have code in place that does exactly as I ask, however it does not seem to work in IE6+7. It works in all other browsers.

The current code is:

Wait Until Page Loaded Before Running Script

Jan 17, 2011

I have a site that runs a javascript slideshow automatically when a user visits it. It is designed in such a way that I cannot pre-load individual images for aesthetic reasons. (Also the whole concept makes my brain hurt.) I therefore need 1 of 2 things:

1. A preloader that doesn't show the page or start the slideshow until all the images are loaded.
or
2. I could start with the slideshow paused, and when the page is fully loaded, the play command (currently attached to a 'play' button) is 'sent'.

(I'm not techy, so this is the best I can do as explanation.) The latter would probably be more elegant, especially if ultimately I could hide the controls for the slideshow with a loading bar until all the html is loaded, and then show them when the slideshow starts.
