Validating Forms - Check Whether Or Not Password Match

Oct 11, 2009

This code will not work no matter what I do.
function comparePassword(){
pass1 = document.getElementByName('password');
pass2 = document.getElementByName('cpassword');
if(pass1.value != pass2.value){
document.getElementById('matchpass').innerHTML = "Passwords do not match!";
}}
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-W3CDTD XHTML 1.0 TransitionalEN" "[URL]">
<html><head>
<title>Game Makers United - Uniting game makers with the help they need</title>
<script language="Javascript" src="javascript.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
</head><body>

<form method="post" onsubmit="comparePassword();" >
<table width="100%">
<tbody><tr>
<td width="150px">Username: </td>
<td><input type="text" name="username" maxlength="32" /></td>
</tr><tr>
<td width="150px">Password: </td>
<td><input type="password" name="password" maxlength="32" /></td>
</tr><tr>
<td width="150px">Confirm Password: </td>
<td><input type="password" name="cpassword" maxlength="32" />
<span id="matchpass"></span></td>
</tr><tr>
<td><input type="submit" name="register" value="Register" /></td>
</tr></tbody></table>
</form></body></html>

All it's supposed to do is check whether or not "password" and "cpassword" match, if they don't it's supposed to put "Passwords do not match!" in the span "matchpass". I can't see anything wrong with the code and javascript is enabled in my brower. GetElementByName does not exist, so I switched it to getElementById and it works perfectly.

Validating Forms Input

Jan 6, 2006

I am looking for a little help validating a forms input. On the form are key
items which I do not wish to be zero length.

I have wrote the following function:

<script language=javascript>
function ValidateLength(oid, min, max)
{
var txt = document.getElementById(oid);
var length = txt.value.length;
if(length == 0)
{
alert("You must enter your reference, Company Name and Contact Name");
}
}
</script>

However their are still a few issues I would like to work out.

I all it with my forms sumbit event with the following:

<input type="submit" name="Submit" onclick="ValidateLength('txtRef',0,100)"
value="Submit Details">

However that will only check the length of the item txtRef, how can I check
more textbox values? Also how can I stop the form posting if the alert is raised?

JQuery :: Validating Multiple Forms On Pages With Single Tag

May 27, 2011

It doesn't appear to be possible to validate multiple forms on a pages that only has a single <form> tag, using the JQuery Validation Plugin offered by Jörn Zaefferer. The reason I need to do this is because my pages are created with ASP.NET whose architecture generally calls for a single page-wide <form> tag. In my designs, I'd like to submit my data using a custom ajax call to a web-method, and link it to a click event on a button.

Below is an example:
<!
DOCTYPE
html
PUBLIC
"-//W3C//DTDXHTML1.0Transitional//EN" "[URL]" >
<
html
xmlns
=
"[URL]"
> .....

I'm not sure that I fully understand the documentation for the Validation plugin, but it doesn't seem like this is possible, as the plugin seems to need a <form> for each form.

Check For Pattern Match In String

Mar 16, 2011

I am trying to do a pattern match and check something in a condition but cant get it to work. The first value changes and I need to check and do something if I get a hit on it.

Code:
var mydata = "?first=one&second=two&third=three";
if (mydata.indexOf("first") == "something")
{
alert("No Hit");
} else {
alert("Hit");
}

Basically I am trying to find out if first is equal to one in the mydata string. My above attempt is not working.

JQuery :: Check On Two Password Fields?

Aug 16, 2010

I am trying to do a check on two password fields. As you can see below, I am doing an if satement on keyup to verify the fields are the same, and if so append a green checkmark.

Problem I am running into is on the if statement line #6 below, where I have :

$j(pw1).val().length >= 6 && When set to 6, and I put a six digit password into the confirm password input box, and shift tab back to the initial password input box, the image disappears. Upon tabbing out of password back into confirm password the green check mark will re-appear.

Found this code, but I'm not sure what to do [code]...

Look at Navigation and then look at Animated Menus as an example. When the grey animated menus (div.columnrt) takes up two lines (could be more), need the corresponding left div (div.columnleft) to be same number of lines, so that everything stays lined up. Each of these pairs sits inside of a li element.

2 Password Boxes On Same Page Using JavaScript Kit Encrypted Password Generator

Apr 28, 2010

I'm having trouble getting two password boxes to work on the same page, which I created using the JavaScript Kit Encrypted Password Generator [URL].

I've used the code that this generator produces, with some modifications as given by cheesebagpipe [URL]. These changes enable the user to press the keyboard's enter key to submit the password (as an alternative to clicking the submit button), and will also refocus the text box and select the text in it if the user enters the wrong password.

The code works fine on pages with just one box (e.g. [URL]), but what changes are needed to make two work on the same page? (I'm new to web design and clueless when it comes to JavaScript, which I know isn't the most secure method of password protection, but will do for now).

At the moment, on pages with two boxes (e.g. [URL]), neither of the boxes work; this appears in the address bar instead: [URL] ('help!'=whatever has been entered in the text box).

The full code for both boxes is given below.

<div id="passwordBoxes">
<div id="password2">
<form name="password1" onsubmit="submitentry();return false;">
<span class="WhiteLogin">Keyboard classes login</span>

Password Protection - Encrypting The Password And The Content

Aug 28, 2008

This is a secure solution for password protection with JavaScript. It works by encrypting the password and the content. Nothing is revealed in the source code, and it cannot be beaten by disabling JavaScript.

The download contains three files:

Protect Content.html lets you generate your own protected content.

Demo.html is a protected document, and as long as it remains unbroken, it's your proof that this software works. You can also use it as a template for your own protected pages.

Demo, with hint.html is another protected document that tells you the password. This is meant to show that the first demo is not a trick or a fake.

Adding Forms But It's Limited To Text Input Forms?

Nov 14, 2011

how to add forms in javascript, but it's limited to text input forms.

<script type="text/javascript"><!--
function updatesum() {
document.form.sum.value = (document.form.sum1.value -0) + (document.form.sum2.value -0);
}
//--></script>

Where the inputs sum1 and sum2 are text fields you put whatever numbers you want in. That works fine. Great. Now what I'm having trouble with is modifying the code so that it will add one form with an input number with a form that spits out a randomly generated number.

<input type="button" value="D20" onclick="this.form.display.value = Math.round (20 * Math.random())" class="buttonHi" />  <input name="display" type="text" size="6" value="" />

This is what I'm using for my random number generator. So basically I want to be able to put, say, 5, into the input text field above this. And then click on the d20 button to get a random number, say, 15, and then have the first code add the inputted 5 with the randomly generated 15.
