Use Variable Instead Of Number For Function Input?

Oct 29, 2009

I'm using simpleCart() javascript shopping machine for my page.The script accepts values in a specific syntax:onclick="simpleCart.add('name=Some name','price=23.4','quantity=1');"But because the price of the product is not always the same but comes up after previously made calculations, i want to parse the values in simpleCart() through another function. I have made the following one which gets the price from a textbox (resultAlmires) of a form (Almires), then converts it to american format (. instead of ,) makes it have one decimal only and finally parse it to simpleCart() with the use of a variable.However it doesn't seem to work:

function addAlmiri() {
var timi = document.Almires.resultAlmires.value;
timi = timi.replace(/,/,".");

Passing An Input Variable To A Function?

Mar 14, 2011

I'm using Keith Wood's jquery plugin to produce some graphs for my site. Though I've been able to produce "static" ones, I'd like the user to be able to input a new constant and then have my graph update it according to what they enter. I'm not quite sure how to add the value that the user inputs to my linear function below. So far I have:

Code:

<input type="text" size="1" id="plotit2" name="plotit2"/>

for the user to input the desired change. Then I have:

Code:

$('#plotIt1').click(function() {
var svg = $('#svgplot').svg('get');
svg.plot.noDraw().addFunction('lingraph', linear, 'blue', 3).redraw();

[code]...

I've parsed down the code to what I think are the important points but if I can clarify anything I'd be happy to do so.

JQuery :: Functions With Variable Number Of Arguments?

Jul 26, 2011

So in the Tutorials:How jQuery Works, I've noticed that you can make a call to .get like this : $.get('myhtmlpage.html', myCallBack);

I've also noticed that in the docs jQuery.get() is described as jQuery.get( url, [data,] [success(data, textStatus, jqXHR),] [dataType] ). My question is, in the above example, the callback function is the second argument, whereas in the docs the second argument is data, and the third is the callback function. How does this work? Also, what does it mean when the arguments are laid out in an array-like fashion with commas in the square brackets? i.e. arg1, [arg2,]...

JQuery :: Call Variable Number Of Times With Different Parameters?

Jun 17, 2011

I have a function that I call a variable number of times and I need to know when the calls have *all* been completed. How would I build that? As I understand the deferreds, the $.when syntax is as follows:
$.when(dfrd_func1('a'), dfrd_func2('b'),
dfrd_func3('c')).done( function() {
console.log("All Done");} );
will send "All done" to the console once each of the functions are complete.

So, I have the *same* function that I need to call a variable number of times with different parameters, i.e. :
$.when(dfrd_func('a'), dfrd_func('b'), dfrd_func('c'), ...).done(function() {console.log("All Done")});
So, is my approach wrong? Is there some way to build an array of functions that could be executed?

I can see how to add the next row: there is a hidden blank row with visibility set to 'none', which is turned to 'block' by clicking the Add button.

How can I continue to add rows? Do I need to have a large number of invisible rows and turn each one on as required? (I don't want to have to submit the form for each row, which would be another solution).

Declare A Variable Inside A Function - Returns White Space - Not Variable Value

document.getElementById('video2').style.display="none";
document.getElementById('video3').style.display="none";
document.getElementById('video4').style.display="none";

and trying to call it later on with this: <script type="text/javascript">document.write(video1Name)</script> It might be worth noting that each one of my 11 videos will hace a different name.

Dynamic Form Displays Variable Number Of New Text Fields?

Nov 23, 2010

I am thomas. This is my first post I have a question. I am trying to make a dynamic form. I have seen this addressed in a few other threads, but it is first of all not exactly like my problem and also, the language of the explanations is not simple enough for me to understand.

I am trying to make a form that has 1 box that asks how many designs a customer wishes to order, then based upon that number, reveals that many pairs of text boxes below; one should be with the label, name of design, while the other should be with the label quantity of design. That way, if a user enters 4, four pairs of these boxes will appear, asking him specific names and quantities

If I set up a variable quantity to the value of the text box, I think I should be able to loop like,

for x=1; x<=qty.value; x++ but then I am confused about how to make the thing render the text boxes. My primitive knowledge tells me I could do something like document.write. But on another thread I read I saw that I could also use
