JQuery :: Call Variable Number Of Times With Different Parameters?
Jun 17, 2011
I have a function that I call a variable number of times and I need to know when the calls have *all* been completed. How would I build that? As I understand the deferreds, the $.when syntax is as follows:
$.when(dfrd_func1('a'), dfrd_func2('b'),
dfrd_func3('c')).done( function() {
console.log("All Done");} );
will send "All done" to the console once each of the functions are complete.
So, I have the *same* function that I need to call a variable number of times with different parameters, i.e. :
$.when(dfrd_func('a'), dfrd_func('b'), dfrd_func('c'), ...).done(function() {console.log("All Done")});
So, is my approach wrong? Is there some way to build an array of functions that could be executed?

I have a need to count how many time the image ok.png is displayed within a div. this is for a dynamic sys req. check where 1 of three images will be shown in a row. If the endusers browser doesnt meet certain req, it will show either an alert, question or an ok.png.I need to know how many oks there are, specifically I need to check that all five images are the ok.png so I can show the rest of the content.I am able to get the number of images with a simple var totalgreen = $("#wrap img").length; But im stuck after that.

How do I get a function to repeat itself an unspecifiednumber of times?BACKGROUND: I have created a digital clock with which I verysatisfied except for one shortcoming: it displays only once and stopsticking. The only way to keep track of the time is to refresh thepage. I have introduced the setInterval( ) function in a variety ofways to compel JSClock() to repeat itself, but to no avail.SOURCE CODE:
(function($) {
$.fn.JSClock = function() {
var today=new Date();

It would be nice to be able to sort plugins by the number of times voted on. I know you can see how many times it has been voted on after you go to the detail page but it would be helpful to get that info as a sort field on the "Most Popular Plugins" page because then you could tell wether a 5 star has been voted on once or a 1000 times. I personally would rather get a 3 1/2 starred plugin voted on 1000 times then a 5 star voted on once by the developer. Don't get me wrong I would vote 5 stars on my plugin too.

JQuery seems to be giving an error when trying to pass an alphanumeric parameter like so:
[Code]...
when the above method is called, the error callback is called. However when I change the eventID parameter to a purely numeric value, it works fine and the success callback is called. I would like to pass an alphanumeric value to a server method and this doesnt seem to work.

I'm trying to pass parameters using the jquery's ajax function, but I end up with a "function undefined" error message when I try.
I had trouble finding simple examples of ajax passing parameters with jquery.

I was wondering if anybody can provide me with high level suggestions as to how to do the following in javascript.I want to record the number of times a piece of javascript is run across multiple disparate machines.To do this I was thinking that the javascript should open javascript a webpage every time it is run. I can then count how many times that webpage has been called which in turn will be the number of times the javascipt has run. However I don't want the webpage to open in the users machine as this will be really annoying for the user.if you can think of a better way to complete the overall goal.

I have a JavaScript function for swapping the values of rows in a table. I have a hidden field in each row to carry a record ID. As I switch the rows the function will update the hidden field but doesn't do it correctly if I switch a number of rows. I dynamically set the values to switch when the page loads but how can I change these values when the rows are moved.The idea is to change the order of a recordset by clicking on an up or down arrow and then save the values on the record id and sort order, the two hidden fields in each row.
function swapCells(idA,idB,id1,id2)
{
var cellA=document.getElementById('menu'+idA);
[code]....

I'm trying to display the same image several times using javascript. It can range anywhere from 0 to about 50. I'll also have its' location determined by the user click and each image will timeout after a short period of time. I figure i'll have to create a new object for each image that is added and remove it after it times out, but my problem is I dont know how to tell the HTML code inside the <body> tag to display the same image for each click I make.

I'm currently working on my first ever javascript and have run into an issue.
Source:
Code:
<script language="JavaScript">
img_width = 0;
img_height = 10;
timer = null;
function imageGrow(bar_len) {
growImg = document.getElementById('imageResize').style
growImg.width= img_width;
if(img_width != bar_len) {
img_width += 10;
timer = setTimeout('imageGrow()', 20);
} else {
clearTimeout('timer');
}}
</script>
<img onLoad="imageGrow(100);" src="img/graph.jpg" border="0" width="1" height="10" id="imageResize" align="center"><br />
<img onLoad="imageGrow(50);" src="img/graph.jpg" border="0" width="1" height="10" id="imageResize" align="center"><br />
I have 2 issues. First, the second image does not call the javascript and I assume this is because both images have the same ID? Can I associate code to 2 elements? Is it even possible to call the function multiple times in the way I'm trying to? Second, as the script is written above, the image never stops growing even when it reaches '100' as specified in the script. If I change 'if(img_width != bar_len)' to if(img_width != 100) it does stop growning when it reaches 100. I am unsure why, as bar_len = 100 when I call the function! I don't know if it makes any difference, but the HTML in my final code will be dynamically generated with ASP.

I am in the process of creating an ajax like upload control (like the one described here: [URL].. I have ran into an unexpected problem that I can't seem to find a solution to. Javascript is not my favoured tech, and maybe there is something fundamental about this that I don't understand. could point out what I'm doing wrong:
I am using setTimeout to basically show a dummy progress bar (by manipulating backcolour of td elements). I start the process like this:

I am simply trying to use a global variable in javascript, but can only access the variable on the second call. I can't find anything that relates to this through my searches. My application is supposed to query the server for XML that tells me which years and months are available to put into combo boxes. I want to store this xml in a global variable to access it later.
