I was using a script that worked fine but because the variable of the option that makes the script go required the "|" character, it interfered with a PHP script in my document and screwed everything up.

Dec 16, 2011I have been studying php for a while now and i know that, i am now starting php oop and that going well but i have never done anything like this. Anway i am creating a booking system which at the end of the process asks who supplied your voucher which they then select a supplier.
The issue i have is my client wants it so if groupon is selected then an input text box should appear so that the user can input a security code from groupon.
So basically it is

So if value="Groupon" then <input type="text" name="security" id="security" /> should appear next to it.
page cant refresh as it will lose its data which would have taken the user about 10 minutes to fill out :(

The thing is that it seems to work in the most common browsers, but for myself, as a beginner in Javascript, I don't know if it's written the correct way. What could be done better?
Aswel, before I write further to this part of code, I want to know that the value of the second option will pass correctly via the PHP process script afterwards... because initially, the second option is not mentioned in the .html file, it comes in virtually by the javascript.

Checking Select Option Value Without Form Submital
Feb 5, 2006I am allowing a user to selected a date to schedule an event and it
seems like the best way to do this is with drop down menus for Year,
month, date. However I would like to make it so when you choose a year
and a month the appropriate days for that month show (i.e. 28 days if
you chose February 2006). I can easily do this with a loop if I can
find out what month the user has selected, but I can't seem to find a
way to get that value. Is there a simple javascript solution to this
problem?

Aug 30, 2011I found this forum while running out of ideas and being extremely desperate to fixing a probably small javascript error in a script. the script is supposed to open a small form window that allows the user to input an email address and update it to proceed. the form item is initially unchecked, but as the user clicks it and enter his email address, it updates the value of the email address and the box becomes "checkable". the problem is that with both IE and firefox, the box doesn't close again, doesn't get checkable and basically doesn't work. in the firefox debugging console, I found the following error:

When one of the selects changes, I'd like the value of the rel of the selected option to display.At first it seems to work, but only if you start by changing the last pull down menu. The trouble seems to be in the"select.ProductAvailability option:selected", this needs to be written for this instance, not all of the selects of that class on the page. the first problem is that my menu must be named "id[2]2" which causes a problem due to the bracketed 2 and the 2 after. Is there any way around that?the second problem I forsee is that this will only work with 1 drop down box being unselected. After an option is chosen from the first drop down <select></select> element, options of the 2nd drop down <select></select> element will show up. Selection of an option from the 2nd drop down list will get the options in the 3rd dropdown list show up. Thus input from the 3rd drop down list will show up the options in the 4th drop down list. Such is the case for the 4th, 5th ,... drop down list.
Each time depending on the inputs from the previous drop down lists , the values for the immediately later drop down list will be retrieved from the database. i.e options for the nth drop down list to be retrieved from the database will depend on the selected the values from 1st, 2nd, 3rd, .....(n-1)th drop down list.
