Update Power Points Field If Select Option Is Chosen
Sep 5, 2009I want to know how I can update my power_points field if a select option is chosen.

View 6 RepliesI need a script that when an option is selected in a drop-down box (select tag) an input tag appears and I am still pretty basic at javascript.
I was using a script that worked fine but because the variable of the option that makes the script go required the "|" character, it interfered with a PHP script in my document and screwed everything up.
I am building a form with ColdFusion, HTML, and will be using some Javascript, and I wnt the javascript to tell one form object to display itself when a certain option is chosen from a <select> tag.
<cfquery name="getCategories" datasource="#mydatasource#" username="#myusername#" password="#mypassword#">
SELECT * FROM categories WHERE type = 'cat' ORDER BY id
</cfquery>
<cfform action="engine.cfm" method="post" format="html">
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
<tr><th colspan="2">New Category</th>
</tr><tr>
<td>Category Type:</td>
<td><select name="type">
<option value=" "></option>
<option value="cat">Main Category</option>
<option value="sub">Sub Category</option>
</select></td></tr>
<tr><td>Name:</td>
<td><cfinput type="text" name="title" size="20" maxlength="100" required="yes" message="A name for the category is required.">
</td></tr>
<tr><td>Parent Category:</td><td>
<cfselect enabled="Yes" name="parentcat" multiple="no" query="getCategories" value="id" display="title" queryPosition="below">
<option value=" "></option></cfselect>
</td></tr><tr>
<td colspan="2"><cfinput type="submit" name="submit" value="Submit" validate="submitonce" validateat="onserver,onsubmit"></td>
</tr></table></cfform>
I want the <cfselect> tag to display on if Sub Category is selected on the first <select> tag. I expect that it will use the onchange attribute but other than that I have no idea.
I am having trouble writing this javascript for my work, normally I would do this in ASP or PHP, but the environment I am working with will only allow javascript for dynamic function.
The form has two different select boxes and based on your options selected for select box #1 and select box #2, the hidden input field "redirect" (which is currently empty) would then populate dynamically with the URL associated with that combination mentioned below. The hidden redirect input field (now containing dyanmically generated data) would then pass the new value via HTTP_POST to .net script that will handle the redirect processing step fed to it. code...
I am trying to update the value of a hidden tax input based on the selection of a specific state from a dropdown, and am not having success.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an select option list, each option has a numerical id, value and text. Each option has an array of its own. So when I choose an option from this list, I want to insert the options array into another option list with an id, value and text. Whats the best way of doing this? How do I select an array based on the value or text of a select option? For for example, take a list of car makes. If I choose the make Audi, how do I select the array of Audi models and insert these models into another select option list. All makes and models have their own numerical id, value and text.

what i want to do is have a selection from 'tst' trigger an input into 'choose' from the data inputted into the 'fname' and 'lname' fields. for example, i want option '1', when selected to draw the input from 'fname' and place it into 'choose'or i might want to select the data in 'lname' instead, so i will tie option 2 to it, so when the user selects option 2 the contents of 'lname' go into 'choose' instead.
I have a telephone input on my form. It is an optional input for users. The prompt begins with the user having to select a phone type from a select menu, and then continue to the text fields to enter the digits.I would like to have the text fields disabled unless any of the types of phone are selected, but not if a type isn't selected. Here's my HTML code so far:

View 4 Replies View Relatedi'm currently designing a dropdown menu that can create a textfield or another dropdown menu based on the option from the first menu. is it possible to create this out of javascript?

I want to know how I could direct the user to a html document based upon which option I have chosen in the list (see above). So for example...
If I have chosen '1' in the list (see above), then when I submit the form, I will be directed to a page detailing information related to option '1'. If I have chosen '2' in the list (see above), then when I submit the form, I will be directed to a page detailing information related to option '2' etc.
I have two arrays (States, Cities) I am trying to allow the user to chose one from a select form (Choice) and then have the values of the chosen array displayed in a alert(). Obviously I could just write an if statement and display the required content depending on whether the value selected == States or Cities. But this project is just a placeholder project for me to figure out one aspect of a much larger project I am working on. And it is important for the result to be chosen dynamically as in the final project I won't know the values that the select field is being filled with.What I need to do is take the value returned from the select field (Choice) and turn that into the name of the array and display that. If I use this code
PHP Code:
alert(States);
then it returns the values of that array. But like I said I need to be able to dynamically select what array to display based on users input
PHP Code:
alert(document.getElementById("Choice").value);
returns the value chosen. How can I take the value chosen and actually display the value of the array with that same name. In other words let JS know that I don't literally want it to display the value chosen but rather the value chosen is the name of the array I want it to display?
PHP Code:
1.
Pseudo code
2.
x = document.getElementById("Choice").value;

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using the following code to remove an option from a select control based on a selection in a different select control and the option text in the select option that is being removed. The code works as I want it to, but I would prefer to use the option value for identifying the option to remove instead of using the option text. I've tried several different ways to do this, but can not find the proper syntax.

I have an options list that is generated from a database. It currently has ~125 options in it. I've received the request that the user be able to either enter the corresponding number or select the option from the list. How can I update the "selected" attribute in the options list based on a number that may be entered in another text entry box?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI wish to know if is possible to change the selected option in a SELECT selecting a determined option into another SELECT in the same form.

I'm using Prototype and scriptaculous either, but here it is:
I have two select areas and scripts to transfer items between the two.
Everything works great in FF, but in IE when an option gets removed it
removes the entire select area. Has anyone ever seen something like
this before?
According to [URL] intended way for jQuery to change dynamically the selected option of a dropdown select control isassigningthe desired text instead of the value. I found this way veryinconvenient (data structures usually deal with value codes, not value descriptions) and it seems to work only sometimes.
Trying different options I came out with this approach that seems to do the job so
far:
function setSelect(pID,pSelectedValue)
{
$('#'+pID + ' option:selected').removeAttr('selected');

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a form that uses jeditable to edit-in-place several fields and select boxes. Everything is working great. Now I need to a way to add a new option to the select list. What I would like is the user select "Add New..." from the select list that would pop-up a dialog window where several fields are filled in. When the form is saved the select field is updated with the new ID and description. I use Facebox for pop-up windows to display notes when the user clicks on a topic. I know Facebox can be used to display a form. It would be ideal to use this ability when creating a new option for the select box.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to "combine" PHP and Javascript to a possible workaround.
I have a test form with two objects;
- a text field
- a drop down box; the items are stored in a MySQL table
In PHP I can adjust the items of the drop down box by submitting the form (button) and querying the results out of the database.
In Javascript I can do this without a button to submit the form.
But I have to include all possible values (>1000) for the items in the script...
Is there I way to combine the two (on leaving the text field, the items in the drop down box should being build from a MySQL database using the value of the text field...)
Can anyone help me out here?
How can I automatically select the next option from a select box? I would like a next button to scroll through the options.....
