Simple Password Protect - Stop Going Back To The Page With The Form After Submit It
Feb 22, 2009
Let me start out by saying that this is for a small-time page with absolutely zero valuable information. PHP or server-side is way beyond the scope of my goals for the project.
Basically, I have a form on a page which I want to use to submit a password. However, I have realized that using the form submit always makes the browser return to the page with the form.
Well, that's not good when I want to redirect using javascript!
My javascript is:
Code:
My form HTML is:
Code:
How can I get this to stop going back to the page with the form after I submit it?

I have a website where i sell items. I need to make it so a customer can go to the site and place a password to purchase a item. Customers sees a item and clicks on "buy now" It can not be a inconvenience where it will prompt for a user/password.
I would like to place a password box, and once a password is entered they will be able to select the "buy now" button. Simple...yes. But i search for 3 hours via the power of google and have yet to find a solution. I want everything to stay on the same page...if possible.
I have seen places like wordpress and joombla do password protect content but i guess it is because the use frames. I would like to do this with just JS and HTML.

I am new to javascript but I can usually get examples of simple scripts I need to work, but can't figure this one out. I am trying to link to this page (link1.html) from another page and I want to password protect it. If the password is correct, I want to automatically link to another page (link2.html).
The reason I am trying to do it this way is if I don't I get a message saying IE is preventing scripts or ActiveX from running. If I don't click to allow it to run then it will automatically display the content of the page (link1.html) I am trying to protect. I will make link1 blank and put my data in link2.
And I realize this is a very low level of security.

I'm using an image as my submit button. I want it to check to ensure all boxes have a value before submitting (I will make the verification more stringent later), and if there is none, to cancel the form submission. I created a readonly input box that changes from white to a visible color to use as a status indicator for now.It displays the correct status in either scenario, but return false doesn't seem to be stopping the page from loading. What function would do that?

I'm using external js, not jQuery.I have two different forms on two different web pages. I'd like for the same validating script to handle both forms. I had this:
document.getElementById('form1').onsubmit = validate;
document.getElementById('form2').onsubmit = validate;
But this always causes an error because at least one of those elements will always not exist. How can I get around this and use one js file?

I'm a CSS and PHP developer, finding myself using jquery and AJAX more and more, of course, and learning a little about it as i go. but only a little. :o)i have a client who's asked me to add an image upload feature to a simple comments post script i've "built". i can see, kind of, how this jquery is posting the form text inputs, but have no idea if this thing can even be made to post a file at the same time.Hoping someone might add a function for me to do this if it can be done?
$(document).ready(function(){
/* The following code is executed once the DOM is loaded */
/* This flag will prevent multiple comment submits: */

Im working on a backend panel where i populate a simple table with a few text boxes in there so they can update some values. I also have at the end of every row in the table an Edit, Delete & Save button. When i hit the save button i would like to update that entry in the database.
My Problem is that i need a value from the table before hitting a submit button, and the element names are dynamically created meaning ill likely need a variable sent from php to javascript and once i have the value in javascript ill need to send it back over to the php to manipulate and send to the server.
From wat i can gather using 'document.form.element.value' is the best way to go, hence why i posted this in javascript when most of my code is php.

I'm having trouble getting two password boxes to work on the same page, which I created using the JavaScript Kit Encrypted Password Generator [URL].
I've used the code that this generator produces, with some modifications as given by cheesebagpipe [URL]. These changes enable the user to press the keyboard's enter key to submit the password (as an alternative to clicking the submit button), and will also refocus the text box and select the text in it if the user enters the wrong password.
The code works fine on pages with just one box (e.g. [URL]), but what changes are needed to make two work on the same page? (I'm new to web design and clueless when it comes to JavaScript, which I know isn't the most secure method of password protection, but will do for now).
At the moment, on pages with two boxes (e.g. [URL]), neither of the boxes work; this appears in the address bar instead: [URL] ('help!'=whatever has been entered in the text box).
The full code for both boxes is given below.
<div id="passwordBoxes">
<div id="password2">
<form name="password1" onsubmit="submitentry();return false;">
<span class="WhiteLogin">Keyboard classes login</span>

I have a piece of javascript running about mid-section on a webpage. It's doing exactly what I want it to do, but when it runs it also "jumps" the page back to the top. That is, if I have my scroll bar half way down the page, when I click on the link and run this code it jumps me back to the top as if I'm visiting for the first time.
Any ideas on how to keep it on the same spot on the page while still executing the code?
Here is my code:
Code:
function changeOrderDetail(changeTo) {
if (changeTo == "guys") {
document.getElementById('orderDetail').style.backgroundImage = "url(images/subpage_odguysbg.jpg)";
} else {
document.getElementById('orderDetail').style.backgroundImage = "url(images/subpage_odgalsbg.jpg)";
}
}

I found one solution - using if($_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER'] == "http:// mysite.com/content/") {....} But Am not shure that it can realy protect my page?

Basically, I have a page that I load with 10 input fields. If users
have JS enabled I want to hide 5 of these fields so as to reduce
clutter. If the user needs these extra fields an "Add" button can be
used to display the hidden fields one by one.
Once the fields a filled in the user submits them for validation and
if there are any error They can "Go back" to make some changes. The
whole process works great in FF & Opera but IE lets me down because if
you use the Browser "Back" button the Javavscript gets executed even
though it should be loaded out of cache.

how to stop the browsers back button from working after a user has logged out. I tried the windows.history.forward(1); function but it either is not working for me, or I am not putting it int the right place.The logout button is on the menu.php page. The button calls the logout.php file which redirects the user to the index.php page after logout.

I have four pages.two html, one js and one php. First page is loginTab.html. There is a tab called "Tab One" when user clicks on it there is a script inside this html page which calls function and loads an external login.html form using ajax. in login.html there is a form and include external js code for ajax functions. What it does is when the user enters email and password and clicks submit then it triggers another ajax function which send a query to php file and compare those variables there with mysql db and returns the message to a div which is in login.html. The problem here is when I enter email and password and clicks on submit button it does not display anything. I am providing all of my code below
loginTab.html

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />

<script language="JavaScript"><!--
if javascript:window.history.back == 1

javascript:window.history.back(4);
return false;
