Select List Populating Text Field
Feb 27, 2009I just know basic HTML & CSS. However, was working on a project that would require a little javascript. It's for a travel agency and the idea behind it is there is a "booking page" that is basically an html form with a bunch of hidden values (like the destination airport code, the origin airport code, etc). The only thing a potential customer has to do is use a selection list and pick the dates available for that travel sale and hti submit. However, there's a new promotion coming out next week where if you book to travel for certain dates, you can use a promo code to save $100 on your vacation. What I would like to know is if there is anyway I can use javascript so that if a person selects the promotional dates, it auto-populates the promotional code text field.

Populating Field Values By Browser
Sep 2, 2009If member clicked 'remember me' on confirm alert after entering the loginid and password, browser will save this information. But if some other clicks on register/join on the same browser, the login and password fields are populating by default. If member didn't say 'remember me', like saying 'not now' or 'never for this site', it is not populating. Note: Both the form names have the same name. Is there anyway to fix it without changing the form name.

Oct 4, 2010I have built myself an invoicing system and I am in the midst of upgrading it. Currently I have a dropdown box with all the items we sell in it and next to that a unit price text field. Currently you select the item and them manually type in the price. The issue is you have to know the price. What I want to do is once you choose an item it automatically adds the unit price. I am sure this is easy and have a funny feeling I have done this years ago. If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great. An example or download code would be even better.

Nov 10, 2011I have an application with many fields over several pages. After hitting Load, a Summary field is filled (via Javascript) with all the input from the various fields. This is working perfectly. Is it possible to make a button that, when clicked, will open the user's email client with the body filled in with the contents of this Summary field? Obviously the field will need a unique ID so JS can target it, I'll use onClick, and I'll need the mailto: tag, but I don't know what syntax to use to put it all together. Also, the script should check to make sure the field is full (they should tap on "Load" first), so the length of Summary needs to be checked. Only the Safari browser will be used for this.

Aug 22, 2006I have a form that has a drop down. In the drop down are items the person can select, then next to the drop down there is a link to add an item if the item is not listed in the drop down. That link is a popup window for the person to add a new item.
My question is, is there a way that after the person adds the item via the pop up the popup window closes and the drop down is now showing the new item they selected without losing all their form data they already entered??

OnClick Adds Text Field To Page (Limit 3 - Each Text Field Displays Different Text)
Nov 22, 2010I have a text field (field1) already displayed on the HTML page. However, there's a link where you can add additional text fields to the page as well. When the link is clicked, the second text field is added successfully (field2), and when the link is clicked again, the third text field (field3) is added successfully. However, the third field does not add itself to the page, and the text for anything greater than a third field also isn't displayed after. This obviously means that my "fields" variable is not working right

AJAX: Populating Text Boxes With Values From Database?
Jun 18, 2006I have a dropdown (picklist) on the page, and when the user selects one of the company names in the list the onChange event fires and kicks in some AJAX to get the company's details from the database. The details are just the various locations of each company.
The way I am doing it now I have a simple div on the page below the picklist and I am using PHP to draw out the entire HTML, including the values sought from the database, and then just using innerHTML on the div to dump the info in there.
So I have PHP which concats text like:
"<input type="text" name="city" value="$city">"
"<input type="text" name="state" value="$state">"
and then the JS innerHTML's it into the div.
But it strikes me this is not really an efficient way to do this. Should I just have the PHP form an XML doc and then use that to populate the form fields?
If so how do I use the DOM to create text fields on the page, and then populate them with the info returned from the DB?

Jul 2, 2010I'm only new to Jquery and Ajax for that matter, understand JavaScript but don't work with it everyday. I have a function from Jcarousel that is populating a div with images (talking to a .txt file which contains the url), JavaScript then writes out the image.

Apr 2, 2009I have created a html purchase request form that people will fill out and submit to make purchase requests within my company. In this html form, I have a text field that is automatically populated when the page is pulled up. The text field is populated with the name of the person who is logged in and it is read only so they cannot be deceitful or anything.To get to this HTML Request form, you must log in through a webclient thus the server knows to populate your name because you are the one logged in. The text field populates because of its <input NAME = "OBProperty_CurrentUserRealName", which is a keyword the program identifies and knows to populate with the logged in users name into that particular text field.
That works all fine and dandy, so here is where the problem lies. When submitting the overall form request, the populated name isnt being saved/ carried over to the admin page so we do not know who it was submitted by.To make the persons name carry over and save, another field name keyword must be used.
Which is OBKey__163_1. Which it was suggested to me to make that the input name of a hidden field. I need "text field A" to continue to populate the form with the persons name using OBKey_CurrentUserRealName, then pass the persons name off to a hidden field containing the input name=OBKey__164_1, which will thus save/pass the persons name on with the rest of the filled out request form when its submitted.
