JQuery :: Changing Function From Populating With Images From Text File
Jul 2, 2010
I'm only new to Jquery and Ajax for that matter, understand JavaScript but don't work with it everyday. I have a function from Jcarousel that is populating a div with images (talking to a .txt file which contains the url), JavaScript then writes out the image.
function getItemHTML(data){
var split = data.split(";");
var url = jQuery.trim(split[0]);
var title = jQuery.trim(split[1]);
var url_m = url.replace(/_s.jpg/g, '_m.jpg');
return '<a href="' + url_m + '" title="' + title + '"
class="thickbox"><img src="' + url + '" width="' + 75 + '
" height="' + 75 + '" alt="' + title + '" /></a>';
};
And this is the function talking to the datasource
function loadItemHandler(carousel, start, last, available){
if (available) {
// Trigger loaded
carousel.loaded();
return;
}var cr = carousel;
jQuery.get("example_dynamic_ajax.txt", function(data) {
appendItemCallback(cr, start, last, data);
});};
Now what I would like to do is instead of populating with images from .txt file I would like to populate with code from another .html page (a html page containing a table code). I'm just not entirely sure what object I need to use and how to go about that. Full code that I am working with is here: [URL].
I am a complete novice when it come to Javascript. I copied the script for displaying random images at a specific interval (from javascriptkit.com). I would appreciate knowing whether the following is possible:
The pages are based on tables, so the parts that change are all cells.
1. Can I define text instead of an image in the array? i.e. can I have the image change to say an apple in one cell and the next cell have text explaining what an apple is?
2. Would it be possible to put a countdown timer for when the image/text is going to change?
I currently have an image and underneath it there are 6 thumbnails. When I run the cursor over them the big image changes. This works fine. However, I would like to have text beside the big picture that also changes depending on the thumbnail over which I am hovering.
I have tried to work it out myself but failed miserably. I have tried forums, but can't find what I need. My code as it stands at the moment is:
<script type="text/javascript"> if (document.images) {image0 = new Image; image0.src = "i/p0.png"; image1 = new Image;
I'm having 3 images work as 3 buttons. I want to make them when the user clicks on one of them it changes it's image and the image of the other 2 div tags.
Here's my html code <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-W3CDTD XHTML 1.0 TransitionalEN" "[URL]"> <html xmlns="[URL]"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="css/style.css" /> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/javascript" href="js/Javascript.js" /> <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> function changeDiv_ToEnglish() .....
And here's my css code for only the 3 divs @charset "utf-8"; /* CSS Document */ #empty { width:69px; height:40px; float:left; } ..... The problem is : nothing occurs when I click on the arabic , english , japanese divs.
I have requirement the search functionality similar to hotmail. The on change or focus of the text box an list items should be populated. Please find the attached screen shot.
I have a table set up with a .click() function on each row sothat if it is clicked on, a class is added to the row thus changingthe background, etc. I was wondering if there was is a way to takethe id of the row that was clicked and populate a hidden field withit. What would I need to include in my .click() function for this towork?Here is my current one:
Now that is fine when the text is only one line long. Suppose it's longer? What I want to do is have Javascript give the variable contentString its text from a hosted text file in a similar manner to the way Javascript can insert more Javascript using a hosted .js file.
I illustrate what I need to do using some "dummy" javascript:
I want to swap the source of two images when you click on one image. Basically, I am switching on/off states. But I can't even get the first part to work. Here is a function that I would think replace the word "off" in the image file name with "on" when you click on an image with the class .img-swap. After that I would imagine I would toggle the class of each somehow.
Is is possible to have a text box auto populate with the current date and time? Ultimately it is my objective to have the date and time populated into a field in my database on submit...
I just know basic HTML & CSS. However, was working on a project that would require a little javascript. It's for a travel agency and the idea behind it is there is a "booking page" that is basically an html form with a bunch of hidden values (like the destination airport code, the origin airport code, etc). The only thing a potential customer has to do is use a selection list and pick the dates available for that travel sale and hti submit. However, there's a new promotion coming out next week where if you book to travel for certain dates, you can use a promo code to save $100 on your vacation. What I would like to know is if there is anyway I can use javascript so that if a person selects the promotional dates, it auto-populates the promotional code text field.
This is having the following glitches. First off, obviously I don't know how to add numerical values. It's just placing them side by side as if they're text. Second, the last entry, "iBook G4 1 GHz 13"" is coming up as undefined. So looks like I've got some syntax errors.
I have a text file that contains a whole bunch of data points neatly formatted (it's basically a CSV file). I need to create a quick JS function that would load the CSV file (from a URL) and display it with in a page. No parsing is needed! I just need to suck down the file and insert/display it within two div tags.
<script language="JavaScript"> <!-- Activate cloaking device var randnum = Math.random();[code]....
Now, this works fine with every manual refresh of the page and I can obviously get it to work with a <META> refresh, but I would like to do achieve this without resorting to this crude method.Note that I have additional code to stretch the image to the client browser resolution.I found this topic which look svery similar to what I want but doesn't have any code for the background image scaling ... http:[url]....
I have a dropdown (picklist) on the page, and when the user selects one of the company names in the list the onChange event fires and kicks in some AJAX to get the company's details from the database. The details are just the various locations of each company.
The way I am doing it now I have a simple div on the page below the picklist and I am using PHP to draw out the entire HTML, including the values sought from the database, and then just using innerHTML on the div to dump the info in there.
But it strikes me this is not really an efficient way to do this. Should I just have the PHP form an XML doc and then use that to populate the form fields?
If so how do I use the DOM to create text fields on the page, and then populate them with the info returned from the DB?
How would I go about simply populating an HTML select statement from a JavaScript function. You see I have several HTML select statements on one page which are identical (sometimes repeated multiple times) so I wanted to try and cut down on these multiple instances and just have the values hard coded once (in a JavaScript function perhaps) and then called whenever they are needed. Could anyone advice me please, would this be easy to do?
I have the following HTML select statement hard coded:
I have been successfully using the following "myAjax" function to load text file information from the server.
ajax.js:
After I load the text file, I store the text "records" into an array by doing something like this:
Where the '}' character is my record delimiter. It could just as easily be ' ' or ' ' or the like.
Again, I am not having any problems doing it this way as it suits my current needs.
Now the question(s)
1. Does the call to read the text data from the external file always read in the entire contents or can I read one line or delimited record at a time and store it to the array directly without the text storage?
2. If the text is always read completely (my suspicion), can I safely delete the "TextInformation" after I convert to the array format? Is there any memory penalty for doing it this way as the text information can be somewhat lengthly and I don't like the idea of having doubled memory usage when I only need the information in array format anyway?
This is the idea I am considering, but I don't know if there are drawback to this method of if there is a better way to accomplish the task.
I have a button class within the html called mygallery_pause_resume and i need to split it into two classes using Javascript (_mypause, _myresume) where I can assign different backgrounds to the buttons.I have an array that activates in an onclick event so that the buttons labels change to play/pause. I have included the code from the template below,
I have 2 things going on here. One, the 'percent' variable is constantly showing up as NaN (not a number) no matter what numbers I give it. I suspect it is happening because the function is populating all the fields at one, which causes a 'divide by zero' scenario for the percentage field, which is last in line. Which brings me to my send thing. How to write this function correctly, as it obviously is causing problems as is, and it seems clunky. I think it should broken up into a couple different functions, but I tried that and NOTHING worked.
Here is the code, let me kow what you think: function calculate(){ var contractsAdded = document.forms[0].contractsAdded.value; var priceAdded = document.forms[0].priceAdded.value; var contractsSold = document.forms[0].contractsSold.value; var priceSold = document.forms[0].priceSold.value; var totalAdded = (contractsAdded * priceAdded) * 100; var totalSold = (contractsSold * priceSold) * 100; var gainLoss = totalSold - totalAdded; var percent = gainLoss / totalAdded;
I've managed to implement the jQuery File Tree [URL] on my site. I am now trying to figure out how to add a function when one of the files is clicked (separate functions for different file types). On the link provided, it explains how to add function to files, but considering my lack of knowledge in Javascript and jQuery, I was wondering where in the code I should put the function. The example the gave was:
function openFile(file) { // do something with file (For now at least
i used setTimeout() function in my image gallery to scroll images , i used setTimeout("myfunction()",1) in my script. Now my image gallery is working properly but problem is that the speed of scrolling images if normal in firefox, but in internet explorer it is slow, and in google chrome it is very fast , Sir how to resolve this problem
