Overriding Scroll In External Frame

Mar 4, 2007

I have been developing a website in html and javascript for people to play the game Runescape (www.runescape.com) on.

It uses a textbox and array to open the page of the selected server into a frame, but they have recently added this little bit of javascript to the pages on which the game is embeded.

function init() {
window.scroll(0,0);
}
init();

Scroll To Parent Frame When Can't Control It?

Nov 4, 2011

I have searched the net extensively for a js link code that will scroll to the top of the parent frame.So, link is in iframe within a parent frame that I can't control. Therefore I cannot place any 'a name' attribute in any link in the parent frame. But would like to scroll to the top once the button in my iframe is clicked.I have used most scroll, document scroll to parent etc js functions but none of them scroll to top of parent page and some require a name to be placed in parentthis is my simple link<a href="#">go to top</a>

Reading Values From External Website In Frame?

Mar 3, 2010

I'm trying to make a tool for my own personal use where I read values from a website with a login system (using cookies), then processing those values and displaying them to myself in a different format and with all the calculations I need.My plan was to open the external site in a frame and log in to the site, then use javascript to read the values and do the calculations. The problem is that I can't get the JS script to work with the frame. It won't read the values. Here is what I have for the reading script:

Code:

var price = document.frames['table3'].document.getElementById('p1').innerHTML;
alert(price);

'table3' and 'p1' are the names used on the site I want the info from.

I have a simple page with two frames, left which houses a menu and a right frame which is used for the site content.

On the left hand menu frame I have a simple login system which requires the user to login, when they login a cookie is created called memberCookie to hold their memberid.

When they are logged in one of the options is to logout, on this page is a link to an external JS file called alert.js, which simply prompts the user if they wish to logout in a function called alert_logout Code:

I have included the relevant code below.

JQuery :: Use A Parent-frame - Objected To Make Child-frame AJAX?

Aug 26, 2011

I have a domain: example.com; which is the parent.And a subdomain: api.example.com; which page 'receiver.html' is being loaded in an iframe, child of parent. Both pages set document.domain = example.com.

I'm trying to adapt this code:[url] but Idon't want to load jQuery from the <iframe> again but I need to have the method $.ajax() working from the <iframe> otherwise it would be a cross-domain request and the browser would abort it. I tried ingenuously to set via $('iframe')[0].contentWindow.$.ajax = $.ajax() and I just got a shortcut to the parent page jQuery method. I also tried to "clone" it using $.expand (true...) but the method doesn't work for me; probably because of the complexity of the objected I'm trying to clone. So is there a way for me to use jQuery to have only a $.ajax() method in the <iframe> ? I've thought even about creating a XHR in the child-iframe and then use that in the $.ajaxSetup ({xhr: THATNEWXHR}) but I couldn't do it. I mean, I want to use the XHR factory from jQuery (which has fallbacks for IE, etc) but it has to be created from the iframe-child.

Maybe there is other way to make the AJAX call come from the child-iframe.

If you're wondering "why don't you load jQuery from <script> in the child-iframe", there is a reason... As I'm using jQuery plugins + my own custom javascripts + other independent scripts I created a compiler which minifies each file and bundle them in one. The advantage of this is the reduction of HTTP requests. So "why don't you load that bundle inside the child-iframe?", because it's ugly and Twitter doesn't... Yeah, I like to take Twitter as a reference and I think if they were able to make it so can I;

I got to work in most browsers except IE and Operaby doing it with pure javascript.

I'm "attaching" the code for you guys to test. If you open it with Chrome, Safari or Firefox you will receive 2 alerts one with the return of $.get() and another with the return of a request made via XMLHttpsRequest object. Otherwise (if you open it with IE or Opera) you'll get 'undefined' in the first alert but the real return in the second.

This is the example.com/index.htm:

OOP - Extending A Class And Overriding A Method?

Jul 14, 2009

I have this class, (just the signature)

javascript Code:

var parent_child = function(po, ps, co, cs){
var url = 'http://xyz.com/abc/';
var pars = [], childs = {}, tmp;
this.p_added = function(urlFrag){

[Code]....

What i want to do is to create a new class with the above one as the super class, pass in one more variable to the constructor and override the p_added function. I thought of doing something like xpc = new parent_child(); and override the function with xpc.prototype.p_added = function(){}

how to pass in another variable to the constructor and make it private to the new class.

I believe there is a nice and concise way to achieve what i want to, but i can't find it. And the fact that OOP in javascript can be implemented in several different ways doesn't help my cause.

Overriding Methods In Sub Or Base Classes

Jan 20, 2011

In class based languages you can override methods in subclasses like so:
class BaseClass{
methodA(){
print( name() );
}name(){
return "--base--class--";
}}
class SubClass extends BaseClass{
name(){
return "--sub--class--";
}}

So the following code prints "--sub--class--"
(new SubClass).methodA();
So even though methodA belonged to the BaseClass, it called the overridden version found in SubClass. Would the equivalent code in Javascript print "--sub--class--" or "--base--class--" ?

JQuery :: Overriding The Link Function On Certain Browsers

Aug 25, 2009

JQuery and have a problem with an expandable menu I have created for a new Wordpress theme.

With my expandable menu I am simply (slide)toggling the children <ul> by clicking the parent <li>. This should work fine but jQuery is overiding the default event for the anchors in the children resulting in me having a nice expandable menu that animates well but with its links disabled.

As far as I can tell this should work as I am targeting one level of anchor beneath the parent and not any other more deeply nested children.

The problem only applies to the followning browsers - Firefox 3.5, Safari 4, Chrome and ie 8.

It works fine in ie 6 and 7, Firefox 3 and Opera 9.

The jQuery is as follows:

The html structure is as follows:

I left the anchor details (href, title and so on) out just to make the html code a little easier to scan.

Editable DIV - OnBlur Overriding OnClick Event

Feb 6, 2009

I have an editable div, when clicked displays two buttons - save and cancel. When either button is pressed the respective function takes place. The problem I'm having is with the onblur function. When a targetElement loses focus, I want to figure out which new element gained the focus - if it is the save button then I want the save function to fire. However, if it is any other element then I want the cancel function to fire.

I'm trying to figure out once an editable div is selected and the user clicks the save button, how do I determine that the save button was clicked and trigger the save function - because with the onblur method attached to the editable div any click outside the div is interpreted as a call to the onblur method, even if the save button is clicked.

document.getElementById("cancelEdit").onclick = function(){ cancelEdit(targetElement, initialContent ); };
document.getElementById("saveEdit").onclick = function(){ saveEdit(targetElement) };
targetElement.onblur = function(){
if (document.getElementById("saveEdit").onfocus){
saveEdit(targetElement);
} else { cancelEdit(targetElement, initialContent ); }
};

Overriding CSS - Display IFrame When Fully Loaded

Jan 19, 2010

I have a site with the main content displayed in an iFrame. The problem is the outside frame is not exactly rectangular so the iFrame corners go over the corners of frame. I solved this by having the pages in the iFrame transparent and this works fine. However, I wish to only have the iFrame displayed when it is fully loaded. I have pretty much worked this out but there is just one problem. I cannot work out how to set the iFrame to not display initially so I can then change it from Javascript. In other words, I have the following function that shows or hides the iFrame. I simply parse "none" or "block":

Code:
function showHideFrame(display) {
Frame = document.getElementById("frameContent");
Frame.style.display=(display);
}

I then have this function that is called from Flash to change the page. Before the page is changed I hide the iFrame:
Code:
function changeFrame(page) {
Frame = document.getElementById("frameContent");
showHideFrame("none")
Frame.src = page;
}

I then have the iFrame set up as follows:
HTML Code:
<iframe src = "[URl]" id="frameContent" allowtransparency="true" frameborder="0" onload="showHideFrame('block')></iframe>

The problem with this is that it starts visible. I have tried adding a
HTML Code:
style="display:none;"
To the iFrame but then the javascript cannot set it to block it stays hidden the whole time. I have also tried putting it on the CSS but the effect was the same. So how can I override the CSS? Or set it to be invisible initially?

JQuery :: SetData/getData Events Should Be Capable Of Overriding $.data()'s?

Nov 4, 2010

Check out the official blog post on the 1.4.3 release:[URL]..I am thoroughly confused by this sentence (under "Events"): "jQuery has already had setData and getData events (which are broadcast whenever data is set or gotten through the .data() method) overriding these methods makes it possible to override the default behavior for those features (namely you can return a different value or prevent a value from being set."

1. had setData and getData events overriding these methods" -- which methods? 2. "makes it possible to override the default behavior" I have looked into the source and I cannot think of any way to either "return a different value" or "prevent a value from being set."

Breaking Out Of Parent Frame If Child Frame Changes URL

Jul 19, 2006

I have a parent document that has a frameset with two frames in it. The first frame is a "header" that runs across the top of the site, and never changes. The second frame contains the "content" of the site. Essentially, I am trying to figure out how to prevent the header appearing above external sites when the user clicks an external link in the "content" frame.

Every time the content frame changes to a new URL, I would like the check that URL and determine if the content frame is changing to an external URL (i.e. different domain in URL) or to an internal link (same domain in URL). If the content is changing to an external link, I want to break out of the frame and just load that external link in the top most document.

I would like all of my javascript to be in the parent document, not spread throughout the individual pages of the site. I was trying to approach this by setting the onunload event handler of the content frame, but I am left with a couple of specific questions:
1. In handling an unload event, can you determine the next URL that the document is loading? Code:
