I'm redesigning a large website right now, and the problem i'm having is that there is already a CSS class called "required" that has been used extensively all over the site. However, I want to use the jQuery.validate.js for the forms. is there any way to override this?
var parent_child = function(po, ps, co, cs){ var url = 'http://xyz.com/abc/'; var pars = [], childs = {}, tmp; this.p_added = function(urlFrag){
[Code]....
What i want to do is to create a new class with the above one as the super class, pass in one more variable to the constructor and override the p_added function. I thought of doing something like xpc = new parent_child(); and override the function with xpc.prototype.p_added = function(){}
how to pass in another variable to the constructor and make it private to the new class.
I believe there is a nice and concise way to achieve what i want to, but i can't find it. And the fact that OOP in javascript can be implemented in several different ways doesn't help my cause.
I have a page here http://183.78.169.53/scv/addRoute3.php. What is does it check if either of the second/third dropdown list is not selected then minimal the third dropdown list is required. I have function like this. What it does when there is change in the second column dropdown list > 0 then I want to make the third column dropdown list to required false but when I submit it still shows me the error message "This field is required".
Code: function handleDwellTimeHourUpdate(index) { //alert("First or last row");
I am trying to use jquery: validation plugin by Jörn Zaefferer. Which works really well I have to say. The one limitation I am trying to work around is how I can run validation for required fields before I submit a form. At the moment I have to submit the form before I see the error messages for required fields I would like to see them prior as the user tabs through the form.
the validate plugin at the form at the below URL is validating as true as long as the first required input is valid even though subsequent required fields are invalid. It even gives the invalid class to all fields correctly but the submitHandler function is triggered anyway. I have an alert trigger when the form successfully submits and a little more output for firebug if you want it. [URL]
My CMS generates forms in a specific way, and I need to change the way validated fields are selected. I'm using the validation plugin: It identifies form fields that have the "required" class. My CMS generates required elements like this:
<div class="required"><input /></div>
I was hoping this can be easily changed in the plugin syntax, but I can't find any reference to such a change (to select the required fields using this selector: ".required input"[where input is any form element])
I would like to disable the submit button until all fields have been success. I have been looking for examples of call backs but could find anything I could use.
I need to do a clientside check of a form to see if a "required" multiselect list and a checkbox have been left blank or not. To clarify, the user is required to select either one or more options from the multiselect list, the checkbox, or a combination of both.
What they can't do is leave both of them blank. Both the multiselect and the checkbox pass values to a PHPList script on the server as if they were one multiselect with the name "attribute17[]".
***Disclaimer - I am a total javascript noob and am piecing together examples from several days (and long nights) of googling.***
I'm dealing with a very long subscribe form, and so far I've been successful with figuring out the code to validate emails, select dropdowns, and checkboxes. This combination multiselect and checkbox is the last piece of the form that is giving me trouble. Hopefully somebody here has a solution.
For simplicity I've reduced the javascript and the form down to just the part I'm still having trouble with. Here is a piece of the javascript that I'm trying to use:
Code: <script language="Javascript" type="text/javascript"> function checkform() { if(document.subscribeform.elements["attribute17[]"].value == "") { alert("Please select your Primary Work Locations");
however the validation still fails on the creditcard field. If I enter this in to Firefox's console:
$("#OForm").validate().element("#creditcard");
it returns false.
To make matters more confusing, this validation only fails on my form when I am passing a particular parameter in the URL string. I've scoured my code and cannot figure out why that parameter would have any impact whatsoever on this matter.
I have a form that has 4 "required fields" that validate using JS. I am now trying to add a 5th "required field" (the difference is that this field is a "radio button input as opposed to a text input).
I have it working so that when the 1st radio button is selected, the form will go through. However, when the 2nd radio button is selected, it comes up with the "please fill in all required fields" error.
Here is the JS I have so far:
HTML Code:
I tried adding the 2nd radio button value like this:
HTML Code:
(document.indiv_reg.skill[0].checked =="") || (document.indiv_reg.skill[1].checked =="") But when I do that, then even when the 1st radio button is selected it comes up with the "please fill out all required fields error".
I would like to wrap validation messages in <li class="error"/> with validate plugin is there any event or option I can handle to tweak the element before it is appended? I'm unsure if something like that would look ok:
$('form').validate({wrapper:"li.error"}); or either $('form').validate({wrapper:"<li class='error'/>"});
I'm running validation on a form that has two components, a payments segment and an address segment. Both of these need to be within the same form. By default, the address segment is hidden. Upon validation, I would like to display the payment segment, but only if there are validation errors within that segment. Using invalidHandler, I've been able to successfully fire a function when errors are returned, but I haven't found a way to check if there are errors within that container. My plan was to check for the invalid class within that container... something like this:
$(#formname).validate({ invalidHandler : function() { if ($('.client_validation').length) $('.billingAddress').addClass('showForm'); }}}); The problem is that the invalid class (.client_validation) isn't applied when the invalidHandler function is executed.
I know the refresh() method is gone since version 1.2 but for somereason even if it's suposed to work without it I can't get it to work.Here's the scenario:I got a select box, depending on the selection I want certain elementto validate so I dynamically add validation class to those elementlike this.$("input#element").toggleClass("{validate:{required:true}}");But when I click submit the element doesn't get validated at all but Ican see the class has been added in firebug.
JQuery and have a problem with an expandable menu I have created for a new Wordpress theme.
With my expandable menu I am simply (slide)toggling the children <ul> by clicking the parent <li>. This should work fine but jQuery is overiding the default event for the anchors in the children resulting in me having a nice expandable menu that animates well but with its links disabled.
As far as I can tell this should work as I am targeting one level of anchor beneath the parent and not any other more deeply nested children.
The problem only applies to the followning browsers - Firefox 3.5, Safari 4, Chrome and ie 8.
It works fine in ie 6 and 7, Firefox 3 and Opera 9.
The jQuery is as follows:
The html structure is as follows:
I left the anchor details (href, title and so on) out just to make the html code a little easier to scan.
Check out the official blog post on the 1.4.3 release:[URL]..I am thoroughly confused by this sentence (under "Events"): "jQuery has already had setData and getData events (which are broadcast whenever data is set or gotten through the .data() method) overriding these methods makes it possible to override the default behavior for those features (namely you can return a different value or prevent a value from being set."
1. had setData and getData events overriding these methods" -- which methods? 2. "makes it possible to override the default behavior" I have looked into the source and I cannot think of any way to either "return a different value" or "prevent a value from being set."
How can i override all the styles being cascaded applied to some HTML element?
For example:
I have a stylesheet where DIV styles are described DIV { padding: 10; margin: 10; }
and have HTML code:
<DIV><DIV style="override:all">Test</DIV></DIV>
I would like to not have the inner DIV padding, margin and other directives described in styles above. Actually I would like to discover some directive line "override:all"!
I am using the "lightbox" effect to open my images which uses javascript. I am also using jQuery for the changing banner at the top of the page. Ever since I put the jQuery script in, the "lightbox" script stopped working. When I remove the jQuery script, the "lightbox" script works again. Obviously they are conflicting for some reason. I have included the relevant code below.
I'm trying to use javascript to control a table's td styles. What I want to achieve is to
- apply style A onmouseover - apply style B onmouseout - apply style A onfocus
The problem is that the mouseout event overrides the focus event. Also I'd like each element to stay on the focus state until another element gets clicked.
This is my code:
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> function HoverStyle(element) { document.getElementById(element).style.backgroundImage = "url(images/arrow1.jpg)";
I have been developing a website in html and javascript for people to play the game Runescape (www.runescape.com) on.
It uses a textbox and array to open the page of the selected server into a frame, but they have recently added this little bit of javascript to the pages on which the game is embeded.
Does anyone know how to suppress the default messages?
1. "Are you sure you want to navigate away from this page?" 2. "Press OK to continue, or Cancel to stay on current page"
I need to provide the user a custome message. I tried many approachs, but non of them seem to work. I tried to use a confirm box instead, but for some reason, the return value for onBeforeUnload event seem to be used as string, so return false to the event CANNOT stop the page from refreshing.
I want to turn all text on a page black when the user clicks a print icon. (Along with that I also remove some DIV's so only the information someone would want to print is visible)
If I add * {color:#000000} to my CSS it does exactly what I want. Now I need to figure out how to apply this rule dynamicly to my document object or perhaps the body when a function is run.
In class based languages you can override methods in subclasses like so: class BaseClass{ methodA(){ print( name() ); }name(){ return "--base--class--"; }} class SubClass extends BaseClass{ name(){ return "--sub--class--"; }}
So the following code prints "--sub--class--" (new SubClass).methodA(); So even though methodA belonged to the BaseClass, it called the overridden version found in SubClass. Would the equivalent code in Javascript print "--sub--class--" or "--base--class--" ?
My code: [URL]... When I click on Upraviť in class edit I need add some HTML code to begin and to end of class entry how to I can select class entry in the same class post on which I clicked?
