Opening Application - System Cannot Find File Specified
Sep 29, 2011
I have the following code below, and its giving me an error saying: "The system cannot find the file specified".
<html>
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
function start_ccm(){
var wsh = new ActiveXObject('WScript.Shell');
wsh.exec("C:Program FilesWorkDynamics TechnologiesccmApplicationsccmMercury.exe")
}
</script>
</head>
<body>
<input id="Button1" onclick="start_ccm()" type="button" value="START" />
</body>
</html>
There is nothing wrong with the location, but my best guess are the spaces in the file path.

I'm considering writing a program in Javascript with Mozilla XULRunner.
(This would be a fully privileged XUL program, not a web page, so it
wouldn't be sandboxed.) This program requires full access to the
filesystem, which it looks like Mozilla's File class can provide.
However, my program needs to not only read these files; it also has to
read their metadata, such as their various timestamps and security
information. (I realize this stuff is platform-specific.) Does anybody
know if I can do that?

I've got a pc which will hold some log files, and I want to get them onto my server.Rather than use a combination of batch scripts, ftp, and cron jobs, I thought I'd try using an hta htpertext application on the local machine, to upload the log file. So I'm trying to do a hta file that will upload a specified file via a self-submitting (javascript), then close itself, but I'm having 2 problems:1. Specifying the file name as the value of the file in the form doesn't seem to have any effect. The form comes trhough with a blank field.2. On submitting the form to the server, it opens an IE window to view the returned page (even if it's blank). If I ran the script every 10 minutes or whatever, the screen and memory would soo get full.Here' s the code I'm using:
Code:
<form enctype="multipart/form-data"
action="http://myserver/form.php"
[code]....

I'm having an issue getting jQuery to load from a local file system. My head links are:
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-1.3.2.min"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-ui-1.7.2.custom.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery.scrollTo-min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery.localscroll-min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="shadowbox-3.0.3/shadowbox.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/myscripts.js"></script>
This works fine when served from my server via http. However, I want to load this entire site (including all linked js/css files) from a local filesystem for offline usage. When I move the project to a local filesystem, the browser throws a bunch of errors from the secondary scripts (like jquery-ui) which indicate that the main jQuery lib isn't loading (ie.ReferenceError: Can't find variable: $). This behavior is consistent across IE7/FF3/Safari4Mac.

Currently I'm developping an application with RoR and jQuery. Is the first time I try to use this wonderful library so I'm still a little naive Right now I'm having a problem that I have no idea how to solve. Documentation, google, etc have been useless for me in this point (probably because I'm not searching the right terms) So I'm creating an invitation system: simply, a form where you put an email address and when you hit submit it makes an ajax call. The server should answer with some data such 'how many invitations the user have left', possible errors and (if in development enviroment) the url for the invitation (debuggin purposes), everything coded in json.
The problem is that sometimes when sending an invitation firefox pops me up with a download dialog suggesting to save an "application/json" file with all the data that the server processed. My jQuery script should be taking care of handling it and it is not. I have told Rails to render the answer in json format: render :json => message.to_json message is a hash with a format similar to {:error => "There was an error, sorry", :invitations_left => current_user.invitations_left} And I have also specified jQuery the type expected in the return of the call:

I understand how it works, however, when pressing the open button to open the file, I'm getting a javascript error that says "Access Denied". Does anyone know how I can make it possible for a user to select a file and open it from my webpage? This would work great if it actually worked! Any ideas?

I have a webpage with a link that causes a file to download. I'd like the file to print instead of downloading. I do not want to open the file because it is an XML format specific to a barcode printer and seeing it is not useful to the user (as well as usually causing the browser to complain). I am, however, fine with using the regular printer selection dialogue that Javascript accesses with the print command.

I am trying to write code a page which will randomly generate links to sound files. I want the user to be able to click on the link and then hear the sound file without a separate window opening up, or the page changing. The following code generates the links correctly, and some of the code allows files to be played in the same window. But only when the file is specified i.e. not randomly generated. I can't figure out how to combine the two things i.e. generating links randomly, and playing the file in the same window.
Code:
<html>
<!-- code for random links -->
<script language="JavaScript">
function randomsound(){

I have a JS which I have already started to try to customise, but I am having some difficulty with it in that when I click on an image, it does not take me to my html page.with care.html. Although all files are in the same folder, I get an error indicating that the fille cannot be found (I have checked the file name spelling). I am not doing any of this online as the Web pages, when working, will be put on CDs.

i basically have a log (log.xml) that i'm wanting to add a new "row" to everytime something happens in the web application. however, log.xml has the potential to get huge and opening/saving/etc... could start taking up quite a bit of resources.
i'm just wanting to simply add a new row to the xml file without pulling in the entire xml file. can this be done?
the log looks something like this...
<log>
<entry date="12/18/2007 12:03:42" description="This is a test."></entry>
</log>
and i just want to keep adding to the xml without opening up the entire file.
i also have PHP loaded on the system - so maybe that's an option as well... pass the entry through javascript to PHP and have it write the new entry?

I have a file that generates web galleries in Adobe Lightroom. They are generated depending on which files are selected and the metadata in those files.
Basically it is a series of pages of thumbnails called index.html index_1.html index_2.html etc.
Then a set of pages for each individual image.
An example can be seen here: [url](the page navigation links are not great, but I have addressed that, they're at the bottom >> )
Currently if a user clicks on a photo there is a 'return to thumbnails button at the top, but this always takes them to /index.html
So the user could be at a picture after browsing to /index_39.html and still get returned to /index
Is there any way I can use history.go to find the last instance of index.html Or index_x.html (where x is any number) and take them back to that instead?
