JQuery :: Saving Values From A Multi Select List?
Sep 10, 2009Im using a plugin called select chain and modified it a bit. Right now im trying to pass only selected values of a multi select list through ajax. The following function does a bit more but im concerned with the part that says cust_val: customer.val().join(",") This should return only selected values. This is what happens if i put it in an alert(). however when i check firebug to see what was posted it shows the entire list. I've tried alternatives like option:selected.... they all work for aler() .. the info passed through ajax shows the entire list.

GetElementsByName With Multi-Criteria Values?
Sep 24, 2011I am trying to adapt an existing script which returns a list of URLS from my website based on an entry in a search box. I would like to adapt it so that I can enter a value other than the string value "xxx" but so that I can search for "xxx" or "yyy". I can see that the script uses the function GetElementsByName with a Name value. Is there any way that I can change the value of the Name to be '"xxx" or "yyy"' instead of just "xxx" or should I be using a different function?

May 28, 2009I'm pretty new to Javascript and I'm trying to build a form which gives a configuration for a product. It consists of 5 drop down menus and each value in the drop down needs to have an image, a price, and a rule attached to it. The image sits above the drop down and changes with the selection, the price adds to the option prices selected in the other drop downs and give a total, and the rule affects what options are available in subsequent drop downs. I've got all of these working separately but can't get a single value to have all 3 functions.

I need to allow multi selection on the select which is the problem. The select must be within the div and when in non-select state set to 1 when the user is to make a selection I expand the select to 10. This causes the div to expand and any thing under to move in kind. I need a way to allow the select to expnad with out moving expanding the parent div.

While appending the option-elements to the targetselect the original option-elements disappear (exactly at step of line 13). This is unwanted behaviour.

May 22, 2009I have a multi select in a form and underneath this corresponding check boxes which are initally hidden.
What I wish to do is when the user selects or deselects an item in the multi select the corresponding check box is toggled to either show or hide.

JQuery :: Using AJAX Via POST With Multi-select
Jun 3, 2010I have a search form that uses AJAX to fetch data and populate a table. Several of the search fields are multiple selects. Problem is, only the first option is getting passed thru to the PHP file called by the AJAX function.

For debugging purposes, the target PHP file ("fetch_data.php") dumps the $_POST and $_GET variables to a file. As mentioned, only the first option from the multi-selects is getting passed thru in the $_POST variable ($_GET is empty as expected). The alert (line 4) will correctly display a comma-delimited list of all the selected values (also verified via Firebug while stepping thru the code). Someone in another thread suggested using serialize() (e.g. line 9 becomes "fs_allFields.serialize()", but that caused NOTHING to get passed thru.
Maybe I've been staring at it too long and there's a simple fix is right in front of me, but I just can't see it.
P.S. I'm using the latest versions of jQuery and jQuery-UI.

Post Hidden Values With Multiple Options Selected?
Nov 11, 2009I have a working code which allows the user to select one or multiple options from a drop down. Text appears alongside depending on their selection. I need to find a way for another area or text box to be populated depending on the original option(s) selected.
Example: At the moment if the user selects �Orange� as their favourite colour and submits it will display the text �Oranges are Orange� alongside. This is displayed within a <div>. I want it to also display another piece of text, for example �Oranges are a good source of vitamin C� in a seperate <div> and then another <div> showing �You should eat at least one orange a day�.
This must also work with multiple options. I am sure there is a way to use hidden values etc but I am stuck!code...

How do I do this?
I tried to change the innerHTML and it erased everything in the select box, so I'm quite sure that is not the right way.
Could Not Set The Options In Select Dynamically
Jul 2, 2010I have a select and list of options. I have onkeypress event on the select input. As the user types I am trying to match the entered key strokes to the entries in the options and setting the selected value to the first match.
The problem I am facing is this: My options have 10000,0000, 10001, 1111,0001. Say I type 10, with less than one sec delay I consider them as one unit. So I try to find whether there are any entries in the options which starts with 10 and setting the value. But brower is considering the last entered key stroke , in this example 0 and setting the 0000 which is the first match.
Is there any way that I can stop the browser from doing that or any idea?
