Anyways I have a textarea that I have managed through the magic of google to have the default text clear out with the onfocus and if the textarea is left blank to put the default text back in with onblur. I now have a new problem that is a little CSS and a little JS I suppose. I want the default text in the textarea to be grey and the user submitted text to be black. I know it is possible because... well facebook has it.
<tr>
<td colspan="2">
Invite via Email: <br />
<cftextarea name="emails" cols="50" rows="3" value="Separate Emails by Comma" onclick = "if (this.value == 'Separate Emails by Comma') this.value = '';" onblur = "if (this.value == '') this.value = 'Separate Emails by Comma';" ></cftextarea>
</td>
</tr>
I don't actually have to put the text in the JS Function, but to have it pull the default text from attribute that would be awesome to.
is it possible to make a textarea resize with text? so if e.g the text overflows, the text-area is automatically resized so that there's no scrolling? It needs to resize automatically as the user is typing (more or less), he/she shouldn;t click on any buttons to resize it

There are two radio buttons, sometimes one will be disabled, other times the other will be disabled. I would like to make a script that: First: Changes the color of surrounding text of the disabled radio button to the color grey. Second: Checks the other radio button.
This was my plan: I would make a script that: First: Removes all the current classes and add the class "greyed_out" (or better: change only the color of) the parent element, all siblings and children of siblings (if any) of the radio button that is disabled at that time.Second: Sets the attribute "checked to the other radio button". I made a script, but when I set the bottom radio button to disabled the script doesn't work:

I want to implement a text input box for SMS text messages and the messages are limited to 160 characters (including spaces, etc.). I would like the font color of the text to be green as the user types and any text beyond 160 characters to be red. I would like to do this with one input box, the same box that the user is typing in not a separate display box. This will be on the users local PC it won't be on the Internet.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am creating a small CMS module for a client. I created a little form and when they click Submit, it goes straight out into an include (.inc) file, which is connected to the web page to be displayed.
The trouble I am having is that I'd like to create an additional button that will insert some text (certain html tags to make their life easier, etc) - I got it to work, actually. The script executes and the text is inserted - but once the script runs and the page refreshes (or whatever it does), the text then disappears. The only way I can seem to get it to stay put is when I use "onmouseup" instead of "onclick" - which means that every time the user accidentally mouses over the thing, it inserts the text.
I need to make background color change when onmouseover function appear. this is actually simple. but i need no javaScript codes in html-document. all javaScript should be in .js file.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a script (more of a web app) which generates a customized table element. I want the user to be able to "save" this table. Thus far, what I am doing is getting the HTML of the table and displaying in a textarea for the user to cut and paste to a text editor. This is fine, except, I worry many in my target audience wont know how to use a text editor, or make plain text, or save as HTML.. etc. So I was hoping to use .js to open a new window and write in the HTML so that the users could merely do a FILE>SAVE PAGE AS directly from their browsers.
I suppose I have two questions:
1) How do I document.write to a NEW window??
2) I have noticed that when you use.js to generate HTML, it doesn't show in the view source , thus it wont "save as" anything else but a BLANK doc. How to make generated HTML "visible" so that it can be saved.

Let say the label was dark gray and then will change to green when it is selected.
The bad news is I do not have the slightest clue as to how this is going to happen or if it is possible with Javascript. I searched Google but nothing Is this possible?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am new to javascript, and am having an issue, which I'm sure is elementary.. I found a script for expandable content, it suffices fine. As it stands, the script toggles images onclick. For example, whence the menu is collapsed, it displays "plus.gif" next to it, and when the menu is expanded, it displays "minus.gif" next to it.
Basically, what I would like to know is, thus: how would I change it to display text icons next to it? For example, in place of "plus.gif" I should like it to display "+" as actual text. I've dredged a number of places, however, I've found nothing. Furthermore, I cannot figure out how to do it.
I am currently trying to change the color of my text in jquery. The problem im having is im not sure how to change my color back to the original css color when I click on the other link. Instead the color just remains and does not go away.(By the way im not strong on this language so keep it simple for me)Here is my code:
$('#navigation ul.submenu li a.sug').click(function() {
$('#navigation ul.submenu li a.sug').css("color","#e1519f");
});[code]......
So I'm trying to change the background color of a textbox depending on how many characters are enter (putting it green/red depending on count), and I'm having a hell of a time. There are 50 different textbox IDs on the page (give or take, dynamically generated), each unique/sequentially numbered (id1, id2 ... id50).Now I'm not that good with Javascript, but this is what I can up with so far.I was trying to use 'this.id' so I wouldn't have to name each of the IDs.

I want to change the color of a each word in a block of text. For example I want each word in a sentence to change to a different color automatically.
I was thinking that is if it was possible to move the color tags around each word and put a time delay between each time it moves but how I will accomplish these two actions.
