Loading Screen (or Similar) On Submit
Nov 11, 2011
I have a basic page which has a PHP form. It creates a record and uploads a picture. When they user clicks submit, I need it to display a "loading" notice of some description. I was using this:
[Code]....
and then placed a div in the page but it shows the message right at the top of the screen. As the form is long, the user cannot see the message. I need to create some sort of notice so users know the form is being processed.

I'm trying to add an overlay (similar to how lightbox works) over the entire screen. The problem is that in IE6, it only seems to work if the DIV overlay is added at the top of the page before any other content is displayed. IE6 (only IE6!) displays about a 15px bar across the top of the page (representing the overlay).[code]

I'm building some forms, and when they are submitted, I'd like to integrate a method that will fade out the screen a bit, and show an animated "processing" .gif. Basically when the "submit" button is pressed, the form is being submitted to it's destination. The page will hang on the form until the next page is ready to load. While it's hanging there after submitting, I'd like the screen to fade out, and display an image in the center of the screen. I'm hoping this can be achieved with CSS, as I try to use as little Javascript as possible.What's the best way to achieve this? I figure if anything a javascript "onsubmit" function will be a good start. Can the screen be faded with CSS?

I have only started to learn HTML, CSS, and Javascript (roughly 2 weeks now). I am having a issues regarding when I submit form data to the server. I want to temporarily disable the 'submit' button while the browser is loading and then reactivate it once everything has finished loading. This was my attempt at doing this.

I've run into a roadblock I just can't seem to get past. I'm developing a website for work (internal) and I have a lot of javascript calculations going on when someone enters data. What I want to do is to have a div apear when it begins calculating and goes away when it ends. I'm using:
// CSS code
div.loading-invisible{ display: none; }
div.loading-visible { display: block; ... various formatting here ... }
// Javascript
function calculate(evalForm) {
document.getElementById("loading").className = "loading-visible";
[Code]...
It works great in firefox. The div display appropriately, calculates, then disappears when it's finished. However, in IE it seems to want to calculate everything before anything is displayed. I placed alerts in the code to be able to pause it mid way and it worked. But without alerts it just hangs while everything is being calculated and the code for the loading screen just seems to cancel itself out. I attempted to put some waits in the code such as:

This might be a combo Javascript / CSS question I'm building a website, and I'm wanting to have small, approx 100px x 100px pop up display that has a "page loading" spinning gif. I also want the page to fade out while this image is displayed. For instance, someone submits a form that takes 3-4 seconds to load. Once they hit submit, the screen darkens, the new window comes into focus, center of screen, and it has some kind of rotating gif, basically a trigger 'on submit'..

The form processor I'm using can take a few seconds to complete (and either take me to the thank-you page or back to the form with error messages). I'd like to change the "submit" button to a loading GIF. I'm using the following code but realize that the form (using ajaxSubmit) doesn't actually submit when I do this.
function pleaseWait() {
var x = document.getElementById("submitdiv");
x.innerHTML = "Please Wait... <img src='/images/ajax-loader.gif' />";
}

I have dynamically created divs. Their ids all start with 'info':
<div id="info1a"></div>
<div id="info1b"></div>
<div id="info2a"></div>
<div id="info123456"></div>
I need a function to loop through all those ids starting with 'info' to put the display property to 'none'.
Code:
document.getElementById(startWithInfo).style.display='none';
Is there any way I can do that withoput having to specify the full id for every div that starts with 'info'?

I have a 'confirm' form that hides a table when a certain field contains a null value.I actually need 3 fields to be null in order for the table not to show rather than one.here part of the working code.
Code:
if (document.getElementById('FIELDNAME').value=='') {
document.getElementById('ID_OF_TABLE').style.display='none';
}
How or what do i do to allow for 3 (or multiple) fields?This is doing my Head in.I know getElementById is most likely not the way to go as it only allows for one.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a syntax checker/varifier that can be run command line in Linux. I recently ran across JsLint, an online JS verifier that works pretty good. The verification code is written in JavaScript, but he did provide an explanation on how to run it command line using WSH (windows script host).
Does anyone know of something similar on Linux (I'm actually running FreeBSD, but figured Linux would get more responses )? Is there a way to execute javasript command line? Or is there a similar program that varifies javascript?
The reason I'm asking is I would love it if I could check javascript syntax while editing in Vim (I can do this with php, and I can't live without it now ). I thought about maybe creating a wrapper html that runs the script and outputs the errors, but figured why create something new (and not elegant) when there might be a solution out there already.

Now the problem I am facing is if users upload large images and small images, the layout get scattered. So I decided to do layout similar to here they have aligned the images very nicely. They looks prety aligned in the way of rows and columns. they are not scattered. So I would like to get exact same layout.

I have 2 monitors from a different size. It is important in my application that I get the screen size of the monitor where the webbrowser is located. When I try to get the screen size (window.screen.height + window.screen.width) only IE gives me always the screen size of the main monitor where my taskbar (windows7) is located, instead of the screen size of the secondary screen where the webbrowser is located.

We have to develop a small engine which the client uses. It supposed
to work like this. Our engine resides in a frame (frameA) which will
be loaded only once and it provides set of functions. The client can
call these functions. We inturn should get the values from the server
or set the values in the server and return with the values. The way we
are planning to implement is that we will have have another frame
(frameB hidden) and submit it whenever the client (frameClient) calls
our function and wait till the page reloads and return with the value
( set in the reloaded page by the server). The problem we face now is
that we don't have any sleep functionality in javascript ( being event
driven) and if we have a loop waiting for the reply, it will consume
the cpu cycles and the the frameB wont load.
