Jcarousel Customization - Build A Scrolling Slideshow
Jul 21, 2010
I'm using jcarousel to build a scrolling slideshow and need to make some customizations. There is a callback function that is referenced whenever an item becomes the last visible item in the carousel.
I'm working on a project and I need some advice/help on how to build a slideshow using arrays in javascript. What I'm trying to accomplish is having an array of 16 different photos and a button that you can click to display the next image. When the last image is reached it will then start over at the first image. I can put all the photos in the array and I have created the next button but im not sure how to make the function.
I made a scrolling slideshow script, the problem is that although I move my pictures 1px a time I get some occasional "hiccups" in the images while they scroll. Here's the script: <script type="text/javascript"> var i; var k; var speed=40; var status=1; var slides=new Array; var position=new Array; ..... How to make the slideshow run smoother?
I'm working on a site for a client and there is an accordion gadget on the home page (BELOW the nav menu). [URL] The first tab does not conform with the with others in that it is not tab img with the content to the right of it. The client wants the content to overlap the img area (only on the first one). As you can see, the problem is that the img hides the content for a split second when it loads. Logically I think the best solution would be to have the content of that first tab slide in, say from margin-left:1000px to it's final landing place which at this moment is position:relative; left:-110px;. (note: right now the content is a background image, just one of the many things I've tried, but obviously I'm not locked into that)
I am new to jQuery & Superfish, but it seemd like the most logical way to do a quick prototype for a menusystem. I am trying to create a verertical menu system (using superfish-vertical). However, I'd like to tweak the behaviour of the submenu, and have been unsuccessful so far. Here's what the current solution does (straight out of the box) assume menu item 3 is hovered over:
I am customizing jquery scrollshow, it can be found originally here As you can see in the original script there are only images which scroll, now I have the description to show below each image which should also scroll as the images scroll. This description will include -
1. 'Name of the person in Image'
2.Article Title
3.Article short paragraph (Also this content will come from the db with PHP !)(Initially it can be implemented for some small dynamic text for images) To achieve that i tried to add the 'p tag' inside the image's li tag but they doesn't scroll. So I am trying to do some changes in the jquery functions they wrote. I tried this much, in the case link of wrap function
I am building a firefox plugin which customizes Google Mail. I want a feature in it to automatically send email by a event raised by my plugin. This feature is required when I am on compose page but I don't want the user to hit the Send button.
jQuery - Scrolling browser Window. I have two demos of scrolling page content with jQuery.
This one - [url] is scrolling the contents inside a container and it works as I wanted on Mac/PC
Code:
I need the same effect as above but I need to scroll the whole browser window.
I have a demo here - [url]
Code:
Problem here is on the Mac the transition are jumpy and it seems to flash the first yellow div before sliding up or down. Testing on a PC it will slide down but won't slide up. How can I get the whole browser window to slide up and down with a smooth transition.
im searching for a plugin/code example for text scrolling. I got some text in a <div> if text is longer than for example 300px it gets cut and is scrolling from start to end, stops for a second and then scrolls back, stops and all over, and if its not long enough than 300px then just displays normaly. Something similar to the Song name scrolling inin anyMP3 player.
So Im trying to create a slideshow with thumbnails the user can scroll through and use to navigate the slideshow. I'm a big fan of cycle so I wanted to use that as my main slideshow component and was planning on using jcarousel for the pager. So far it works great in Firefox, Chrome, and Safari, yet in IE the thumbnails are not loading. I'm guessing it has something to do with how the images in the pager are generated and then jcarousel just isnt proccessing that in IE but I 'm not sure. I feel like I'm very close to getting this slideshow to work, yet I need to figure out why it is failing in IE.
I am using a simple prototype slideshow and a more comprehensive jquery slideshow on my website. When these are used on the same webpage on my website there appears to be a collision: (For example)Code:element.attachEvent is not a function[Break on this error] element.attachEvent("on" + actualEventName, responder); How can I avoid the conflict without reverting to a new slideshow?
[URL]... I would like to add a auto to the carousel does anybody know how its done.
An example of it is here but not sure what to do[URl].. I have used this framework from this site to build the one i am currently using but not sure how to add the feature.
I'm using jCarousel Lite on my site for a best sellers rotator and a logo rotator.

After a lot of trial and error, it seems to work great, except for one thing.
If javascript is turned off, the carousels don't load correctly and the home page gets messed up. But in the demo page for jCarousel Lite, turning off javascript isn't a problem as long as only one instance of it is used in a page.
Is there a way I can put 2 carousels on the same page and have them deprecate (if I'm using that word correctly here?) properly?
I'm trying to get jQuery to hide jCarousel images while they load using the following code. It actually worked at one point but refuses to now (which makes me think it's a minor syntax issue). '#carousel' is the containing ul element. You can see I've tried it a few different ways. No errors appeared in Chrome's debugging console. "show('slow')" doesn't work either...
I am using jcarousel for a scrollable list of images (vertical). Unfortunately, when you try to scroll it the first time you enter the website its not working properly. Just when you try to visit the site the second time it the scrolling will work as intended (when cache deleted, again, it will not work). [URL]. To load the script earlier, I tried to already put it in the head of the index page (starting page), but this had no effect. The Problem is for IE and Firefox the same. I am using Dreamweaver CS4.
Everything was perfect until I uploaded one too many pictures. Using "SmoothSlider" for Wordpress and it seems that jCarousel 'overloads' when there are more than 12 images. Here is what happens on the page: display: block; overflow: hidden; position: relative; top: 0px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; left: -43650px ; width: 72750px; left: # ; reaches a 'limit' approximately around 10,000px and results in the slider sliding back to the first image (left: 0px++) and then it goes to the correct pixel size. View the page here: [URL] and try it your self.
i am using [URL] when i have reached the last item, where the next button shld have been disabled, its still enabled leading to an extra space when next is clicked. [URL]
We have jcarousel on our forum site which rotates automatically. It is vbulleting forum. In fact originally it was working fine with old design and rotating images automatically in horizontal direction with a set of 5 images visible at a time and total 12 images in set.
But we have upgraded our forum design in last week and I started getting issues with Jcarousel scroller.
Our site URL is [URL]
While old site design is still active at Parenting Forums - Natural Parenting Forum
At new design when we implemented jcarousel scroller it is showing only one image in a horizontal row at jscroller and it disappears immediately and after 3-4 min it do reappear again. When I inspected it using firebug I have noticed that other images are coming below vertically not horizontally, really strange. Also I noticed another thing is that it is not updating width at element.style in firebug for UL tag. It is showing fix width 220 px all time. I think due to that all images appearing vertically one after one rather than horizontally.
I have a problem on my website that I'm doing for a company, they have a Wordpress blog, and the blog page is set as a static home page, which is great. The problem is, the Atlantica theme puts a gallery on much of the blog, and worse, makes an even bigger gallery on the Home page (lucky me:-/). With some twiddling, I quickly figured out that I could just set the div "gallery" to "display: none" via CSS, and wah-LA! it disappeared..until 5 seconds later, when the error message "jCarousel: No width/height set for items. This will cause an infinite loop. Aborting..." continues to re-assert itself, provides an OK to out of the error message, and keeps pestering me again.
I know next to nothing about the format of JScript. I've tried if/then statements, but once again, I'm so new at this, that I haven't gotten that far. I'm a whiz at CSS, but Javascript is kind of kicking my tail.
I use jcarousel in one of my project. As we know active image in jCarousel, default set in the left or right. Can i customized so active image will centered? Let say there's 5 image and i want image number 3 in the middle is set as active image.
