I have a text input on a particular page with the option for the user to type in a four-digit year. Let's say 1981 for example.

When the user clicks submit or enter, I don't want anything submitted, but rather javascript taking the user to url: http://www.mysite.com/year/1981

How can I do this?

Hangman (DHTML/ActiveX)

Jan 3, 2003

I thought I'd post this and see what you guys think (go easy on me :)). Anyway, my teacher gave the class a project to see if we could make a hangman game with an ActiveX object's draw methods and some good ole' DHTML. I've always wondered why javascript doesn't have any draw methods or graphics objects like Java has.

I suppose SVG will take the place of activeX and Flash... hopefully. Once we had the right object id it was a piece of cake (I found it by the way). Anyway, here's my program. I would've put the code in this post but I have a few includes and graphics that go with it. Best viewed in 1024 x 768 resolution, and IE only (of course).

JQuery :: Use One Input Text Field To Drive Two Hidden Input Text Fields?

Jul 16, 2011

I have a problem created by my complete [rookie] status – only second time venturing into jQuery. I created a simple shopping cart using php and the PayPal buttons (1: buy now, 2: add to cart). The php back end does it great, it generates the table and the buttons and everything works just like it’s supposed to; Except, I forgot to add sizes. So I found out what I need to add, and I realize that the way the buttons work, I will have two different text boxes for size. Not very visually appealing, and since I’m not submitting this to the server before it goes to PayPal to pay, I cannot modify it with php the way I normally would. jQuery / javascript are my only hope of making this work. What I want to do:Have a single textbox where [size] is entered by the user.

Copy the value from the [correct] text box to the Value=”” section of the now hidden field in the PayPal form That way, no matter whether they [BUY NOW] or [ADD to CART] the right size is submitted to the PayPal shopping cart. This is the actual PayPal code that I’m trying to change

<table>
<tr>
<td>
<input type="hidden" name="on1" value="Size" maxlength="200">Size</td>

[code].....

I got this far, and then decided to find how to insert the "enteredVALUE" into the right place in the input text field (what I called output) and I've not been able to figure out how to stuff it in there.

JS Arrays In Storing Input Frm Form Into Array / Displaying Result

Mar 18, 2009

need urgent help with javascript arrays. I need to store the checked value of the radiobutton into an array and then display the result from that array.I have created an empty array to store the input from the textbox of the form using the JS insert() function and then used show() function to display the result... but I am unable to display which option the user has selected from the radiobutton.if you look at it in the browser, and type in a name in the name textbox and click submit....it displays the result (which was stored in the inputarray) but the radiobutton doesnt work...gives.."undefined" and should give either Male or Female, depending on what the user selects.

Javascript:print

Jul 20, 2005

I use a print link that causes a problem with Opera 7. The link looks
like this <a href="javascript:parent.frames.mainFrame.print()">Print
this page</a>

I also used
<a href="javascript:print()">Print this page</a>

and it also worked with most browsers. I realize that it only works if
you have Microsoft Windows versions for PC but that is what most of
out customers have anyway. I have also noticed that there is a problem
with certain browswers, for example Explorer 4 version but also with
newer browser like Opera 7.01.

I does work perfecly well with Mozilla-compatible browsers but why not with Opera. With Opera it first looks as if it would work, but when you choose print from the
Operating system it prints the wrong frame although i specifically try
to call the right frame. Has anyone found a workaroung or sollution to
my problem.

JavaScript To Print?

Nov 13, 2003

I've got a client who has a investor presentations that I take from PowerPoint and optimize into jpegs then into a JavaScript slide show.

What I'd like to do is have a button in there that states, 'Print Current Slide' that would allow them to do just that. Problem is, the JavaScript slideshow is in a popup window and I really don't want to have another when they want to print a slide. Also, the optimized jpegs are smaller and not very good print quality.

Could I have my button dynamically select a full sized jpeg on the server and auto print that without actually showing it? So clicking on the 'Print Current Slide' button would tell the script what slide they want to print and to search it out in a directory and automatically send that to the printer?

To Print With Javascript

Nov 24, 2003

I know this Javascript code prints the current page:

"<a href="javascript:window.print()">IMPRIMIR</a> ";
What I am looking for is to print a page which is not the current one, so I need to address the pointer such as :

"<a href="javascript:file.txt.print()">IMPRIMIR</a> ";
I know it does not work, but you imagine what I mean.
Is there anything similar to try?
In short, I want to print a page which is not the current displayed in the screen with a simple clik on a button or on a hyperlink.

Javascript Print Command

I know this should be kind of easy, but I am very unfamiliar with Javascript.

What I am looking to do is have an image (coupon) that when clicked on,
it either prompts for printing only that image, or pops up a window and
automatically after loading the image in the new window, brings up the
print dialog box. What would you suggest is the best way to do this?

Javascript:window.print() In Landscape?

Is it possible to send attributes into this function to change the
print preferences from Portrait to Landscape with IE 6.0 set as the
standard browser? Right now I'm using

javascript:window.print()

as the command.

Clients want it and I want to confirm it's not possible. If I'm using
an old, deprecated process, please give me a heads-up. I'm no

Javascript Can't Print Viewed Information

Mar 11, 2007

I have a printing problem that I'm hoping someone can solve.

I have a small company website that uses javacript under IE5.5. For
web pages that display large lists I used a div to build a simulated
iframe.

When a user pulls the right slide to move down the table and decides
to print the screen, the printed output shows the information from the
beginning of the table and stop after 13 lines. This often differs
from the "view area" on the client desktop.

Any suggestions how to get the "view area" to the printer?

Css Print Styles Conflict With Javascript Precedence

Jul 14, 2007

Basically, I have a div section in my xhtml that I want visible for
print (div {display: block;} in my print css), and visible if somebody
has javascript disabled (therefore also div {display: block;} in my
screen css), but not visible on screen with javascript activated
(i.e., turned off in javascript with div.style.display = "none").

The problem is one of precedence. When displaying the page on screen I
want my non-interactive javascript code to execute after the css rules
have been applied (so I put my javascript within window.onload). But
when a user attempts to print, I'd prefer if the css (for print) were
applied after the javascript. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to be
what happens.

Automatically Move The Curser From Input Text Box To The Next Input Text Box?

Jul 27, 2010

I have taken a class on PHP and started making some math homework and drills for the tutoring I do. I have asked my kids for feedback and they are telling me that it is inconvenient to hit tab to go to the next text box (They have small arms/fingers..)I then thought of a brilliant ideaLets say it was 12 divided by 3. If they wrote a 4 in the input area, the JavaScript would recognize the correct answer and automatically move to the next box. However, if they wrote a 3 in the box, the JavaScript wouldn't move over.This kills two birds with one stone. The inconvenience of hitting tab or clicking on the next box disappears, and they are forced to put in the correct answer.Ironically, I have learned PHP and skipped over JavaScript. Which code would I use to do this?
