View 1 RepliesI want to check the email address type in a contact form but want to reject it if it's from a certain domain I actually use this regexp : /^[a-zA-Z0-9_.-]+@([a-zA-Z0-9-]+.)+[a-zA-Z0-9]{2,4}$/ (taken from the jquery validationengine) to check if the email address is correctly formated but I'd like to reject it if contains hotmail between the @ and the. I tried many things but couldn't get something that works.

However, this will work fine when calling with a link "javascript:validate('inputForm');" but if I try to prevent users by submitting form with pressing enter I put it in form onSubmit parameter: <form .. onSubmit="javascript:validate('inputForm');"> which will check the forms and submit data (do return) no matter if it matched or no.
I have an issue with a registration form. What I would like to do is only allow a certain email domain in the 'email' field. Eg. Only allowing @gmail.com email addresses, and all others would receive an error. This is the line of code that I believe needs changing:

I am not too familiar with this but through my hours of research, I believe that I need to add something to this line.
I currently use the following code to make sure that users of my form have entered the 3 basic peices of information into my form.

Now i want to make it so if they enter a email address from a specific domain (ie @garbage.com.au) it comes up with a message saying they cannot use that domain name....

I'm aware there's a built-in setting to validate an email address. However, I'd like to validate a list of email addresses, and I don't think the plugin contains a built-in solution. What's the best way to implement this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedBasically I'm using the plugin to validate a form. I've got the basics set up and working. Now I'm trying to use remote so that I can check for a duplicate email address. The problem is as soon as I add my checking script the validation stops working on the email field completely. It constantly says "please enter a valid email address" no matter what I put in the field. If I don't have the remote bit in my code the email field validation works correctly. The following code asks the user to sumbit a name, email address, and some
text for a quotation via a FORM. I have written a javascript function to
evaluate the fields in the form and pop-up a message to tell the user if all
the fields have been fill-out. If the user has missed some information the
form re-displays with red "alerts" indicating where the user have missed the
information while re-populating the information the user has submitted.
May question is, after the user has successfully filled out the form, how
can the submit request be forwarded to another jsp so the information can be
emailed to me. I have written a jsp to accept the request and email it. This
works if I remove the validation code. I am not familiar enough with
javascript to be able to figure this one out. I may be on the wrong track.....
My understanding of regular expressions is rudimentary, at best.
I have this RegExp to to a very simple validation of an email-address, but it turns out that it refuses to accept mail-addresses with hypens in them.
Can anybody please help me adjust it so it will accept addresses like dag-sunde@test-domain.net too?

Ive put a pop up box in the head of the second page and it asks for email, but how do i make it so if the email is incorrect it will not go onto the second page? at present if i click the link for the second page the box pops up but that is it. I can document.write their response and it comes on the top of the second page, but i want it validated!

I am trying to validate a web form. Someone else wrote the Html code and implemented it with an iframe using asp and php. I didn't want to mess too much with the code so I decided to use javascript to make the form validate, before it was sending email alerts with every field blank. For the most part the validation works but it skips the email field for some reasons and is really bugging me to death. this is the code:

I just started using the grate validate plugin today and I can't really find an example of what I'm trying to customize...
Basically, I think it's confusing for a select element to change on focus instead of on change, meaning: the user forgets to select an option, the drop down is highlighted with some CSS, so use selects an option, but CSS error styling doesn't go away until the user clicks somewhere else on the page... A minor gripe, but I'm a big believer of the Steve Krug "don't make me think" school ;)
I'm still not quite clearly on how to implement own customizations of this plugin even after going through the docs...
I use the Validation plugin [URL] and do like this:

I have two fields; zip and city, I validate zip with remote and it checks against a list if the zip is valid, but i want it too:
Check if the zip is valid
Return true if it is valid and return the city of the zip and paste it in the city-input...
Of course I have a database/array/list with all zip and city's.
I have thought about using the standard email checker pattern but we have had problems in the past so looking to check if the string follows these simple rules.
has no spaces, has a character/s at the start followed by an @ then has a character/s followed by a (dot) then another character/s
i.e
a@a.a
aa@aa.aa
aaa@aaaaaaaaa.aaa
i am not sure how the standard pattern works but feel that it may be to complex which causes some email address to fail.
