Aug 18, 2011
i using for my contact form

The above code was copied from a Youtube tutorial about JavaScript.
I would like to ask, what additional code should be added in the existing code in order to validate the numbers only and an email format before the form to be submitted?

I am making a contact us form, when the user will submit the form it will send the entered information via email to a already specified E-mail address ( using mailto: option), Now everything is working fine, But I can not figure out how format the enterd information into a nicely formatted E-mail. I know that can be done using PHP, but it suppose to be made from javascript (Client requirement).

I am building a site of which I would like the contact information and form to pop up from the button on the menu/header frame into the main frame as a lightbox ...no matter which page is loaded in the main frame.
I was trying to experiment with the archived "jQuery Contact form for your website" tutorial from web devlopment blog . com. (I didnt want to post a link to it as I dont want to possibly flag the moderators)
Go to [URL] to see the layout and what I am going for.

I am working on a form that gets validated both on change and on submit (assignment). For the phone number, I want to validate so that the form will ONLY accept numbers entered in the following format: (###) ###-####
(ex. (555) 867-5309 ). I am new to JS, but am pretty sure this can be accomplished via using and comparing a regExp? If so, what is the code for that?
The closest one I can find is the following:
^(()?(787|939)()|-)?([0-9]{3})(-)?([0-9]{4}|[0-9]{4})$
Obviously, I do not only want to limit it to 787 or 939, so I need to remove that). Although, this accepts a variety of options that I do not want, like no parenthesis, only two numbers for area code, or no dashes, etc. I sort of understand how this works, but am unsure how to make the elements in the format REQUIRED as opposed to optional

I have a form built and on the onclick event I validate all of the
fields and then if the form is ok, on the submit event I run a
javascript function to set a cookie and download a file from the
current window.
I have a cgi script provided by my web host to send the contents of the
form through email but they only show me how to use the cgi script to
send email through the submit event of the form.
ie. <form name="downloadform" method="post"
action="/cgi-bin/cgiemail/mailtemp.txt" onSubmit="return
Validate(this)">
Can I utilize the cgi script/link from my javascript function and still
send the contents of the form through the cgi email??

This is an assignment I have for a course I am taking. The objective is to validate the zipcode of a form to ensure that it only contains numbers. I cannot get this to work. The teacher wants us to use the for loop to do this, otherwise I would use a different function.
Code:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
<meta charset="utf-8">

The following code asks the user to sumbit a name, email address, and some
text for a quotation via a FORM. I have written a javascript function to
evaluate the fields in the form and pop-up a message to tell the user if all
the fields have been fill-out. If the user has missed some information the
form re-displays with red "alerts" indicating where the user have missed the
information while re-populating the information the user has submitted.
May question is, after the user has successfully filled out the form, how
can the submit request be forwarded to another jsp so the information can be
emailed to me. I have written a jsp to accept the request and email it. This
works if I remove the validation code. I am not familiar enough with
javascript to be able to figure this one out. I may be on the wrong track.....

You can see that when selecting 'Contact' from the top navigation a light-box (fancybox) with a contact form opens, this form can be filled and when the submit button is pressed the content of the form is emailed to myself. However.... The 'Thank you message' is not appearing in the light-box as I would like it to and I cannot work out how to do this.

I am trying to validate a web form. Someone else wrote the Html code and implemented it with an iframe using asp and php. I didn't want to mess too much with the code so I decided to use javascript to make the form validate, before it was sending email alerts with every field blank. For the most part the validation works but it skips the email field for some reasons and is really bugging me to death. this is the code:
<head>
<link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="CSS/style.css"/>
<title>Bid Form</title>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1">
<script src="gen_validatorv4.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">

Quick question: I have a simple script (PHP) that emails users information along with a URL. This URL is encoded with characters and is extremely long, and needs to be clicked on by the user, as is, from within the email.
I have noticed that email clients like Hotmail, Yahoo! mail, and even other app. based clients allow the user to directly click on the URL. However other users, especially AOL users, are having problems clicking on this URL.
Does anyone know how to embed URL's within an email for AOL users? I know its a bit different because whe I receive newsletters, they normally have a separate link for AOL users.

I am creating a calculator app and I'm a bit stuck with number formatting. Example of how I would like a number to be formatted: $2,899,799
I currently have the formatting working except for the commas. I'm using the following code to achieve this. My result is currently showing up like this $2899799
function format (expr, decplaces) {
var str = "" + Math.round (eval(expr) * Math.pow(10,decplaces))
while (str.length <= decplaces) {
str = "0" + str
} var decpoint = str.length - decplaces
return str.substring(0,decpoint) + str.substring(decpoint,str.length);
}
function dollarize (expr) {
return "$" + format(expr,0)
//RESULT FIELDS
form.AnnualScrapSales.value = dollarize(((A - B) * (C2/100)) * G2)
Is there a way to add to this "function format" code to also achieve the commas?

I need to validate three textboxes and it will validate for numbers. How should I change my code to validate three textboxes?
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" >
[code]....
I need to use Javascript to validate 3 textboxes, whereby the users can only key in numbers (because they are phone numbers related fields). If any of the textbox is empty, display an alert message to show which textbox is empty. I do not want to show many alert messages to show that, for example, text1 and text2 are empty, it will show two alert messages. I would need to show one "summarized" alert message instead.

I have thought about using the standard email checker pattern but we have had problems in the past so looking to check if the string follows these simple rules.
has no spaces, has a character/s at the start followed by an @ then has a character/s followed by a (dot) then another character/s
i.e
a@a.a
aa@aa.aa
aaa@aaaaaaaaa.aaa
i am not sure how the standard pattern works but feel that it may be to complex which causes some email address to fail.

I tried searching for this but couldn't find anything that looked correct (Although, I might not have a clue what I'm actually looking at!) I have a fairly simple forum system running as part of my site as part of the member system memberkit. I would like the forum to be public - members can post to the forum, and the public can post to the forum by putting in a name and email address.....
but....I would like some simple code to either block out, xxxx out, or remove entirely email address and phone numbers from forum visitors that are not members. I'd really like to show a gray block over the phone or email address that says "please login to view this information"
Now as part fo the system, I do have IFEQ tags available to determine if the user is a member or not, so I've got somethnig to execute the code on, but I just don't know what the code needs to be.
I've seen this done on other forums before for links and such, I'm just not sure how to do it. I'm guessing it would need to read the whole post message and look for certain strings of characters, etc. [URL]...

Last week after much searching, I found the answer to my problem in
this newsgroup. I can't find the thread from which I got my solution,
but I wanted to report back what worked.
When the site visitor fills out the form and submits it, this calls a
rather ordinary asp script like formmail.asp that sends the emails and
displays a "thank you" web page. At the very end of my "thank you" web
page I placed the following:
<script type="text/javascript">
location.href="FileToDownload.exe"
</script>
This causes the file download to get triggered, and asks the user if
they want to save the file. In limited testing this appears to work
fine in both Firefox and IE.

My understanding of regular expressions is rudimentary, at best.
I have this RegExp to to a very simple validation of an email-address, but it turns out that it refuses to accept mail-addresses with hypens in them.
Can anybody please help me adjust it so it will accept addresses like dag-sunde@test-domain.net too?
Here's what got:
function validateEmail(eMail) {
return /^(w+.)*(w+)@(w+.)+([a-zA-Z]{2,4})$/.test(eMail);
}
