JQuery :: Subscribe And Respond To AJAX Updated DIV?
Aug 25, 2011Nutshell version: I need to fire off a javascript call whenever an ASP.NET UpdatePanel is updated, and I'm not sure how to do it. Detailed version: I have an ASP.NET page that has several UpdatePanels. Some of these are in my own code and I have access to, some are used by third party controls (e.g. ReportViewer) and I don't have direct access to them.
My website also uses jQuery Mobile to render the controls in a mobile friendly way. The problem I'm having is that whenever something in an UpdatePanel is updated, the newly updated contents don't get re-parsed by jQuery Mobile, and so they revert to their original style(s).

The problem I'm having is that I can't figure out how to make that happen. document.Ready() doesn't refire on an AJAX update. I've tried using $('div').live(),$('div').load(),$('div').change() and a few others (I am adding these to the Master page for the website) but nothing seems to fire off when the DIV updates.
JQuery :: Execute Function And Subscribe At Same Time?
Apr 11, 2011We're trying to enhance and optimize the forms in our projects with jQuery, but I don't know if something we want is possible. Nowadays we are using simple javascript to enable and disable elements in our forms, we have a part to execute when the document is loaded and another that is executed with the interaction of the user.
For example, we have a simple select with "Race" : "Caucassian", "African" and "Other", when the user selects something we enable or disable a textfield (where the user specifies the other race) depending of the election; and when the user saves the data and reopen the form to modify the elements, we execute a function that evaluates the value of the select (previously loaded from the database) and enable or disable the textfield.
We need to optimize this because we've got really large forms (sometimes with 400 different fields) and it would be great to do this in 1 step and have one file with the behaviours instead of doing this once for the interaction and once for the reload. I've been thinking in a way for subscribing to the onchange and execute it at the same time, but I don't know if there's any way of doing that...

This is a form to subscribe people to a newsletter on Mailchimp. There are two lists: community, student. I am trying to separate people into one or the other based on the checkbox input, "Check if you are a student." To do this, on submit, I need the two hidden inputs, "u" and "id," to be set differently depending on whether the checkbox is checked. The error right now I'm getting is that it's not being linked to a mailing list. Most likely "u" and "id" are not being set properly. The javascript is fairly short, and I'm wondering if its setting the values correctly.

Dec 12, 2009I have a form which submits data to a php file, which than sends a pdf file containing the inputted data via php headers. So after the submit, you still see the page with the form on and get a pdf-download now I want to see if the pdf download-window came up and if so, redirect the user to another page (instead of the page where the form is on), but the window to download the pdf should be still there so the user is still able to download the file.

JQuery :: Array Of Checkboxes - Values Gets Duplicated When Posted Via Ajax Call
Dec 9, 2010I have a very large form and have a couple of checkbox groups where multiple items can be selected. They are grouped as an array of checkboxes. When I post the checkbox groups, the PHP script receives duplicate values. If the group has 2 checkboxes, 4 values are posted. If it has 10 checkboxes, 20 values will be posted.
i.e:
I then submit everything to a PHP script via an Ajax call, then output the result to a div. (see below)
However, when my PHP script loops over the $_POST array, it seems that each checkbox array is duplicated, so my PHP array returns:
This happens with all my checkbox arrays, but not with an array of hidden fields for some reason.
I don't think this is a PHP problem, as it looped over everything correctly when submitting via a conventional POST. I checked the contents of $_POST, and it seems that the duplicates are being posted.
Getting Posted Parameter From Headers
Mar 9, 2009Firebug's console is showing when visiting my test.html page Headers, Post and Response. In the Post tab it is showing: "id 9". I need to create a new page and get that 9 in it so I can use it. I don't mind jQuery, Ajax or Javascript but I need that 9. I know that with php I just need $_REQUEST["id"]; but I cannot use php.

When a user sees that page, he is going to choose what word describes the picture best. (purpose of CAPTCHA: verify the user is a human)

The selection is sent to backend php script using POST method.
Here is my problem: In the php script, I know, for example, the user chose Dog to describe the mysterious jpg generated by js code. But there's no way for me to know the id of the jpg file generated by js code. Hence, I will not be able to check whether the user chose a valid description of the jpg file.
How can I send information about the id of the jpg file to the php script?
Dynamic Form Content Not Posted

Keyboard A Picture Is Posted Instead Of A Letter?

Apr 10, 2011I am using ajax in my site and want to implement a friend request button. When a user clicks this button their userid and the userid of the friend thwey are requesting will go into a table called notifications in my mysql database. This works fine in regular html/php with javascript disabled but not when using javascript/ajax.

The above code works perfect if javascript is disabled and the button is clicked as the new row is inserted into the database however if javascript is enabled the alert shows inidicating the ajax file is working but the new row is not inserted. Is this something to do with the POST process between my javascript code and my ajax_processrequests.php file?
BTW $loggedinuserid and $userid are retrieved earlier on in my code but showing how they are retrieved is irrelevant to this because I know they are present at the point of the above code.

Linking A Cookie (posted In A Div) To A Text Box To Search?
Aug 27, 2011How do I link a cookie, presented in a div, to a text box on the same page - so it can be searched?
Now I have a search box that link to the Google Maps API. I also have the two most recently search items to show up as cookies below the map. My goal is to have the cookies show up as links so that when you click them, they show up in the text box to search.
I'm thinking of three ways to do this and wonder which is the best way to do it.
1) Can I just adjust the div tag to link to the text box?
2) Can I adjust the function relating to how the cookies are posted on the page?

Dynamically Added Form Elements Dont Get Posted In FF?

Feb 2, 2011I am trying to dynamically clear the value of a form input field and then submit the form.When I used $('#my_field').val('') to clear the field, it was cleared on the screen but when the form was submitted the original value of the input field was posted.My browser is FireFox and I can see using FireBug that when the field is cleared, firebug is still showing the html code with the old value. E.G. <input type="text" value="old_value" />The same situation occurred if I used $('#my_field').attr('value', '') to clear the field.The same situation occurred if I actually changed the value of the field rather than just clearing it.To work around this problem I ended up using the $('#my_field').removeAttr('value') to clear the field before it was submitted.

On every click, this javascript will make use of AJAX to update the database on a table that stores the current state of the table row (whether to hide or display). Ok, basically it works on every page until i reach a page where only after "posting a form" will reach.
For this particular page, AJAx stop working. I do have a few more AJAX stuff in my website and it works on every page.

Aug 12, 2010Imagine an element with a specific selector getting created and then once the element exists and the selector is applied, all of the behaviors are applied (events, styles and plugin methods).

This would be similar to the live event where a function is applied to the specified event of all selectors even if they do not exist yet. The only difference is that the event is not the typical peripheral driven event (mousemove, keyup,etc) but would be fired once that element exists in DOM.
JQuery :: Form Created By It Won't Validate
Dec 6, 2010I have created a large form with jQuery that only shows up when a link is clicked (sort of works like a lightbox). Without the jQuery validation (which I made because the plugin never worked) the form submits fine. The same set of validation scripts works fine on a form that is placed directly into the HTML (not created by a script). I have found that I have to put the Close Button script inside of the function that creates the form, otherwise it wouldn't work.My question is, where do I put my validation script for it to work. I have tried to put it inside of the "create form" script with the Close Button AND outside of it. There are plenty of ways around this, I know, but I want this to work for my own learning purposes.[code]...
