Dynamically Added Form Elements Dont Get Posted In FF?
Sep 8, 2010
I have cleated a bit of code that will dynamicly add a new line to a form so the use can add an infinat number of entires for this element.The code adds the form elemetns in IE and FF ok but when i click the submit button it does not submit the information from the dynamicly added elements in FF.Oddly enough IE works fine!Here is the code:
I have a grid that I'm adding rows to that include form text input boxes using addRowData. I know I can use the "editable:true" for that but I'd rather not at this time. Anyway I have the <div id=list1></div> surrounded by a <form></form>. Also statically I have a couple of text input boxes and a submit button. When I press the submit button the only parameters that show up in the POSTED data are the static ones. Is there a way to get the form elements "registered" with the form? I know I can always use javascript to extract the data and save it via an ajax call, but if there is a way to do it "correctly"
Example var myRow = {id:"0",call:"<input name='callt"+boxNo+"' id='call"+boxNo+"' class='calls' type='text'/>",amount:"<input name='amt"+boxNo+"' id='amt"+boxNo+"' type='text' value='"+defaultDep+"'/>",residual:"",calculate:"<input type='button' class='buttons' id='b"+boxNo+"'/>"}; $("#list1").addRowData(boxNo,myRow);
In my application I render a couple of elements dynamically after the user selects an option in a dropdown list. When the user selects another option in the dropdown, I want to remove all the previous elements that was added dynamically. I've tried with the .Remove() function, but it seems the elements cannot be found in the DOM. I've looked a lot at the .live() events.
I will be adding 3 additional <div class="slide"></div> after the first one dynamically on $(document).ready(). In the DOM, it looks like this. code...
I am generating HTML based on user actions (in this case, populating a table with the result from AJAX calls).
In my context, I have a link where there is a Quantity field, which I would like to be editable. When I create the html, I give a unique ID to each row, (to reference to a JSON object), however I am unable to get the ID for said row, seeing as the DOM tree is parsed on the pageload and doesn't seem to update when I add elements to the page.
This means that $(this).parent('tr').attr('id') is not returning anything at all.
How would I make it so I can retrieve the ID of my row (which was created/added to the page after it was parsed)?
When the user select an option in a dropdownlist, new dropdownlist elements are added dynamically using jquery. When a user clicks on a new option i the first dropdown, I want all the dynamically added events to be removed so that I can render new ones. But it seems the dynamically added events haven't been added to the DOM, so they cannot be removed. Is it possible to remove them? In that case, how? I've read a lot about .Live(), but my problem is not regarding an event - I just need to reach an element(?).
In IE the selection box is created, and there is a drop-down box if I click on the down arrow, but I can't see the OPTION text for each option. The options are invisible, yet the box seems fully functional. I went into the debugger and sure enough the selection box has "OPTION" child nodes with the correct "value" and "text" attributes.
I'm using the following plugin to include pagination functionality in my application In a nutshell I'm developing a map-based application using Google Maps. The markers that I display on the map and the corresponding information windows (infowindows) that are displayed when clicking on a marker are dynamically rendered from records in a database as the user moves around the map. So basically these DOM elements are dynamically removed and added throughout a user's sessionThe contents of these infowindows are what I need to paginate in cases where multiple markers are stacked on top of one another.
I call the paginate() function from the marker's click event handler if that marker's infowindow contains more than one DIV. It all works beautifully until the user triggers an event that causes the markers to redraw (e.g panning the map). Once the following happens the paginate() function mysteriously no longer works. 1. I click on a stacked marker that causes the paginate() function to execute 2. I then execute some event that causes the markers (and corresponding infowindow DOM elements) redraw3. I click on the same marker as was clicked in #1. No errors are generated and the paginate() function is definitely called but the pagination does not occur. I think it might have something to do with jQuery seeing the containing DIV's id as a duplicate ID? Could I be on to something there?
I am selecting an image as part of a html form. Once selected, jQuery assigns a user-defined attribute of the image to a hidden form variable and passes it to form handler. Problem is when I dynamically add images that can be selected. I am using live function to ensure that the dynamically added image is highlighted when clicked - but the user-defined attribute is not being grabbed by jQuery.
I think that when the page is first loaded, all the existing image attributes are loaded into the DOM, but when extra images are added with ajax, the DOM doesn't have the new attribute values, despite them appearing in the html on the page. I don't think I can use the live function in this instance, because an attribute is not an event. Out of ideas now. HTML/PHP, with jQuery:
I am using jquery to copy a DIV containing some form elements. The copy is appended to the DIV in another DIV to allow an unlimited number of form elements to be sent. The problem is that none of the copy DIVs are being sent by the browser Firefox. There is some chatter via google, but nothing conclusive. I see the DIVs show up in Firebug. Could this be jquery related?
I am using the jquery validation plugin, i am wanting to place all the rrors in one div at the top of the form - which works. The problem is that the first time I submit the form (in FF for MAC) the classes that get assigned to the form elements get added, and removed real quickly. (I have a bg color of red on the form, so i can see a flicker basically) - works just fine in safari. has anyone seen anything like
I'm having a problem where the serialize method isn't serializing form elements that are added to the DOM after the page load. Specifically, when the user clicks on a button some elements are displayed in a dialog that are generated from my server and returned via AJAX. I'm converting from Prototype and didn't run into this problem.
I'm working with a form that has both static and dynamic form elements (add textbox, etc), and while I can access the static elements via request.form, the dynamic elements cannot be accessed. I have the dynamic elements appended within a div that lies within a table.
Here is the javascript:
Code:
function add3<%=strGoalCount%><%=strObjCount%>() { var foo = document.getElementById('fooBar<%=strGoalCount%><%=strObjCount%>'); var numi = document.getElementById('theValue'); var num = (document.getElementById('theValue').value -1)+ 2;
The code below will add new form elements when ever I click the add button. However when you add more elements the combo box element goes out of alignment.
multientry.js function addValue(divname){ var newdiv = document.createElement('div'); newdiv.innerHTML = "<BR><INPUT TYPE='text' name='index1'>";
Code: Is this something that is better suited for Javascript/DHTML or AJAX? I have not been able to find any tutorials on how to do this. Can anyone give any suggestions? I am very new to both Javascript, and of course AJAX, since with out Javascript there is no AJAX.
And I doing some validation like this. function checkvalue() { var f = document.forms['formA']; var eLen = f.elements.length; for (var i=0; i<eLen; i++) { if(f.elements[i].name == "text_" + i) { alert ( f.elements[i].name); } else { alert (f.elements[i].name); } }
It never goes into first part of if statement.. Is there a way I can access these kind form elements..
So, what I want to happen is that there is an add vehicle link or button so that when someone hits it, it allows them to add in another vehicle. Of course it should also add some index to the id's of all the inputs as I will use the post data to add the vehicles to a database.
Now at first I thought I had found a solution, that works a little bit. But then when the PHP comes into effect things break.
Also, this is an aside: the truck vin row is controlled by jquery now. If the plan type selected is for a truck, it will show that row, if it's not then that row is hidden. I'm pretty sure I'll need to build a loop in the Jquery script that will allow that hide and show feature to work based on the index added to the truck row.
in my searching, the only thing I've really been able to find is that I might have to use AJAX, but that's not something I familiar with just yet.
I have form that asks a simple question: "How many XYZs do you want to create?" Then, for every XYZ, it should create several new labels/inputs in the form.
That is, every XYZ looks like this: <div id="xyz"> <label>Whatever</label> <input> blah blah blah </input </div>
I looked into .each() and .live(), but I can't wrap my mind around how to do this.
It works perfectly but I need to add more fields than stated in the post. If I add in another field, only one field gets the increment. The other doesn't. Eg.
I am trying to insert and remove form element dynamically. What I was doing was some sort of recipe program where a user can prefer to add for elements as he/she is done inputting a recipe. He/She can also remove the ingredient if he/she opts to. Here is the link: [URL]
I already solved the problem but I am not sure if what I did is an efficient one. The thing I did was clone the first child of the form. But I realized that if I would put text inside the first child of the for, the duplicate field will also contain the same text as the first child which I don't want to happen. This is why, I set the display of the first child of the form as none. I am not sure if this would cause some problem when I would submit the whole form so that the inputs will be saved in the database since the first child is empty. I was thinking that as the form will be submitted, I would just remove the first child.
I'm created a set amount of dynamic elements based on some elements in another form to try to submit them when the current form is submitted and this just doesnt work. It creates all the elements succesfully and puts in their proper names and values, but on the next page they are not available in $_POST in php.Here's the exact javascript I'm using, I tried appendChild and innerHTML,
Code: var elem = document.getElementById('submission_options').elements; for(var k = 0; k < elem.length; k++) {[code].....
Is there a way to access a form element that was created using AJAX?I've had no luck when using 'document.getElementById( elementID )' as the element doesn't appear to be recognised.
I am currently working on a site as part of a student work term. One of the features of this site is the ability to upload a resume. The resume can have a arbitrary number of "work experiences". I have set up a form and want the user to be able to add new input elements with a click of a button. Here is a very pared down(for simplicity) version of the form:
I'm working on a form that I can add additional fields to dynamically (select fields and text input fields). I do so by clicking a button, which calls a javascript function, which in turn adds elements to the DOM. However, only the hardcoded (non-javascript created) fields are being POSTed. I assume this might have to do with the fact that the form uses tables to lay the fields out. The basic structure is similar to below:
