Security - Password Strength Meter ?
Nov 12, 2005Password Strength meter: Looking at ways of improving site security:
[url] is a great security feature (in my humble opinion) and I seem to think Ebay, Hotmail, or maybe Amazon use a similar tool. It looks at a proposed password, counts the upper and lower case characters used as well as the use of numerical and other symbols such as #@~? Etc. then rates the password on its perceived unbreakability. Thus it encourages users to use a strong password and therefore improves the security on my site and maybe on other sites too
So far I have linked to this site with success, but I would like to integrate the feature into my site. Does anyone have the code or something similar?

Aug 12, 2011I got the functionality of this plugin working tonight. It allows for a checkbox or link to make the password field of a form show the hidden characters, because sometimes it's nice to see them. I turned it into a plugin, and because I still consider myself a beginner with javascript, I thought I'd ask for a review so hopefully I can learn something. I tested it in FF5, IE7, IE8, IE9, Latest Opera, Latest Chrome, and Latest Safari.

2 Password Boxes On Same Page Using JavaScript Kit Encrypted Password Generator
Apr 28, 2010I'm having trouble getting two password boxes to work on the same page, which I created using the JavaScript Kit Encrypted Password Generator [URL].
I've used the code that this generator produces, with some modifications as given by cheesebagpipe [URL]. These changes enable the user to press the keyboard's enter key to submit the password (as an alternative to clicking the submit button), and will also refocus the text box and select the text in it if the user enters the wrong password.
The code works fine on pages with just one box (e.g. [URL]), but what changes are needed to make two work on the same page? (I'm new to web design and clueless when it comes to JavaScript, which I know isn't the most secure method of password protection, but will do for now).
At the moment, on pages with two boxes (e.g. [URL]), neither of the boxes work; this appears in the address bar instead: [URL] ('help!'=whatever has been entered in the text box).

Aug 18, 2011I have a slideshow plugin and there is a function in it called stopAutoplay(). This is called when I click on the pre-defined pause button in the slideshow, so it stops.
If I switch between the slideshows(Slideshow 1 2 3) the slideshow is getting messier and messier because it starts many slideshows at the same time and the plugin gets confused what to show.
I figured if I click on the pause button before I switch to another slideshow it works fine. Therefore what I would like to achieve now is to call stopAutoplay() somehow before I switch to the new slides.
How can I call stopAutoplay() from the html file when I click on one of the slideshow 1 2 3 buttons?
I've tried the codes in green below but they don't work.

Jul 12, 2011I am creating an extension plugin to the jQuery UI Date Picker plugin mostly to just standardize the options used, as well as to add an icon to open the calendar. I am aware of the plugin's use of an icon trigger, but this will not work, as I am using an icon in my sprite image and not wanting an additional request for a mere icon.

This is where it really perplexes me as this code does work to produce the calendar icon. while I could get it to work this way, it is obviously not the better choice as it should be part of the extension plugin and not get repeated in all of my various implementations of the plugin.

Aug 16, 2010I am trying to do a check on two password fields. As you can see below, I am doing an if satement on keyup to verify the fields are the same, and if so append a green checkmark.
Problem I am running into is on the if statement line #6 below, where I have :
$j(pw1).val().length >= 6 && When set to 6, and I put a six digit password into the confirm password input box, and shift tab back to the initial password input box, the image disappears. Upon tabbing out of password back into confirm password the green check mark will re-appear.
