So that user remain in same page.
For an instance, "search box" of dreamincode.net.

How can I do that?
I need a script that will open a new window (popup / new link) in a specific size, but will also close the old window (where the popup came from). I know the popup window is easy but finding a work-able close window script as the new window is opened is impossible!!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI need a script that can open an external page, or some type of content, in a box. This is kind of hard to explain, but here's what I mean, go to facepunch . com (I'm not a spambot dammit) and click on that litte face at the top.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the following code, basically I want to load first page of google into my "ajax tab 1".
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;

<title>jQuery UI Example Page</title>

Fetch external content via Ajax for the tabs by setting an href value in the tab links. While the Ajax request is waiting for a response, the tab label changes to say "Loading...", then returns to the normal label once loaded.

We use for a project the following code for tab navigation. Now the client wants to link directly to a specific tab from outside (for example to tab 3). Is it possible to modify this code with less work or I have to switch to Jquery UI Tabs and build it up again?
/* - TAB SWITCH - */
$(document).ready(function() {
$(".tab_content").hide(); //Hide all content
$("ul.tabs li:first").addClass("active").show(); //Activate first tab
$(".tab_content:first").show(); //Show first tab content
$("ul.tabs li").click(function() {
$("ul.tabs li").removeClass("aktiv"); //Remove any "active" class
$(this).addClass("aktiv"); //Add "active" class to selected tab
$(".tab_content").hide(); //Hide all tab content
var activeTab = $(this).find("a").attr("href"); //Find the rel attribute value to identify the active tab + content
$(activeTab).fadeIn(); //Fade in the active content
return false;
});
});
And in the html:
<ul class="tabs">
<li class="aktiv"><a href="#tab1"><span>Tab 1</span></a></li>
<li><a href="#tab2"><span>Tab 2</span></a></li>
<li><a href="#tab3"><span>Tab 3</span></a></li>
<li><a href="#tab4"><span>Tab 4</span></a></li>
</ul>
<div id="inhalt">

I have a small problem which I haven't succeeded to find any answer to. How do I get this to open in an external window?
$("#id").click(function() {
window.location=$(this).find("a").attr("href");
return false;});
I'm trying to call a specific function in an external javaScript file:
<script src="myCode.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
How do say I just want a certain function to run. I'm using this:
<script src="myCode.js:certainfunction()" type="text/javascript"></script>
but it's not working, any ideas?
How to link an external JQuery file to my web page. I understand using <script src=""/>. My question is regarding the file I downloaded from Jquery.com. Do I add code to that file and link it, or do I link that file and then create a new file with javascript in it and link that as well? Do I create a javascript file and somehow link the Jquery file to that javascript file? how to set up Jquery using all external files.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've created a horizontal scrolling site using the following:
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#nav a").bind("click",function(event){
event.preventDefault();
var target = $(this).attr("href");

which is working fine, however, some of the external links on my page are now not working.
I have a slideshow on the "Projects" page. The javascript is external.
There's a link on the homepage that when clicked needs to open the Projects page with the appropriate slide loaded. How do I do that?
Here's the code I have for the slideshow code...
I have a site with several external links which need to have a link warning dialog when clicked. I am trying to pass the link's href to the modal confirmation so that when a user clicks 'continue' they go on to the new URL--or standard 'cancel'I have this code so far (cobbled together from a few sources--I AM A NOT A PROGRAMMER!!!!), but the dialog is not triggering (links just go to new URL without dialog popping up) (linking to Google API version of jQuery):
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#dialog").dialog({

I have a some divs in a list which are shown or hidden using doslide. I would like to be able to make a link on another page or an email which will go to the page and reveal a specific div automatically without the user having to land on the page and then search through the list.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is a weird one. I am new to jQuery so have been following a tute online. My script works, its just takes ages to load - up to a minute! Things were working fine before when the script was on the same page as the HTML but when I put it on its own file it just slows right down. All these files are just operating straight from my local.All I am doing is changing the color of a list (ul) with jQuery on an external .js file.This is the only code on that .js file (called script.js)
$(function () {
$('#list1 li').addClass('alert');
});

I'm looking for a jQuery code that will show a little mini screenshot of a website when you hover over an external link - been looking for a while with little joy.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've tried looking at various online sources but they are all either too technical or don't seem to work. I'm obviously doing something wrong!The code is posted below, it's not very long so hopefully someone will be able to debug it!Original page:

I cannot make a new window open with my simple little javascript. I'm trying to make it so that when a user clicks the appropriate button, a new window will open. I've been researching this and trying everything i can think of for the last few hours and no matter what I do, nothing happens when the button is clicked. I want to use an external javascript so that no one can simply view source on my webpages and look at the code. the html and Jscript follows:The webpage:

I have a pdf document toolkit.pdf (202.81K)Number of downloads: 81 that serves as a home page or table of contents for reference materials. This is NOT a web-based document. We use this as a reference tool in a face-to-face classroom setting. Each item on the list or table of contents is a button that the user clicks on to see a dropdown menu of reference documents. Javascript is used to execute the individual documents in the dropdown menus. I am trying to get a document sfract.pdf (112.5K)Number of downloads: 72 in the dropdown menu to open at a certain page. I don't want to set this at the document level, because we have several references that open the same document at different pages.
The javascript is:
if (cChoice=="Boating Infrastructure Grant Program")
var otherDoc = app.openDoc
("sfract.pdf", this);
else
How can I get the document to open "sfract.pdf" to a certain page (like page 30)? I have attached the home page/table of contents (toolkit.pdf) and the document I want to open to a certain page (sfract.pdf).
I am a beginner and I am trying to make a script that will open a window when mouse hovers over an image and close when mouse leaves the image
So far I only have the open window part,
<div>
<img id='buttons' src="buttons/buttons.png" onmouseover="window.open ('http:DreamInCode.net');" />
</div>
PS: im using DIV so i can CSS it later(which is probably obvious, but still)
I've set up a portfolio using the Cycle Plugin. It works great, but now I want to link directly to one of the slides from the home page, and I'm not sure how to make this work or where to even begin. Here is a page on my site with a slideshow using Cycle. (I'm actually transitioning divs, not just images) [URL].
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using Toby's iKonize script and would like to add a little more functionality to the script but not sure how to.
I would like the script to find all external links and have them open in a new window, rather than setting the target, can this be achieved? Also, if the image could be added after the anchor so it doesn't get any of the styling associated with the anchor element.
I would like to have a page on my site containing links to external URLs. When I click on these links, a new window should open with the new URL and some text formatting javascript (or other language) code be applied to it. This would be like loading a new URL and then apply a bookmarklet to it. But I want to be able to do both in one shot. you click on the link, open a new window, and apply the code to the URL. Also, when you open the new window, the location bar should show the external URL, not mine. It doesn't have to necessarily be done with Javascript.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the following:
$(".buy_icon").click(function () {
window.location = "http://www.theuntappedsource.com/results.php?category=422"
});
Which opens the url in the current window when the icon is clicked.How would I open the url in a new tab?I should mention that I can't simply use an anchor tag.
