JQuery :: Find In Window Location And Open In External
Sep 13, 2011
I have a small problem which I haven't succeeded to find any answer to. How do I get this to open in an external window?
$("#id").click(function() {
window.location=$(this).find("a").attr("href");
return false;});
Danged if I can find the thread, but I swear I saw a $.url() reference in here a day or two ago. It was beingutilized for parsing out the window.location or window.location.search parameters. I made a mental note because that was something I would be needing to do.
Now I can't find it, either because the search isn't finding it or I was dreaming about this function existing.
I rummaged about the API docs and didn't find it there either. Is it something provided by one of the plugins and not a function native to jQuery?
I cannot make a new window open with my simple little javascript. I'm trying to make it so that when a user clicks the appropriate button, a new window will open. I've been researching this and trying everything i can think of for the last few hours and no matter what I do, nothing happens when the button is clicked. I want to use an external javascript so that no one can simply view source on my webpages and look at the code. the html and Jscript follows:The webpage:
I am using Toby's iKonize script and would like to add a little more functionality to the script but not sure how to.
I would like the script to find all external links and have them open in a new window, rather than setting the target, can this be achieved? Also, if the image could be added after the anchor so it doesn't get any of the styling associated with the anchor element.
I would like to have a page on my site containing links to external URLs. When I click on these links, a new window should open with the new URL and some text formatting javascript (or other language) code be applied to it. This would be like loading a new URL and then apply a bookmarklet to it. But I want to be able to do both in one shot. you click on the link, open a new window, and apply the code to the URL. Also, when you open the new window, the location bar should show the external URL, not mine. It doesn't have to necessarily be done with Javascript.
into an external javascript function that will do the same thing (open all links in a new window individually if javascript is enabled, without destroying links in html for if javascript is not enabled).
I have the existing code that will change all my links to external sites to open in a new window. I now want to change it to allow me to have a way that it will not do this if I put something special in the a href tag.
I link a .js file in my .html, the .js might be in the same directrory as the .html or somewhere else. within the .js file, I'd like to find out with which path the .js was loaded by the .html. So, if the .html contains script src="path/here/there/myscript.js" type="text/javascript" I'd like to have a way, in the file myscript.js to gather "path/here/there/"
below is my code and i cant seem to figure out how i can loop the string and find the location of letter "a" in the string and display it like "1 3 17" ... i cant seem to figure out what i am doing wrong in the loop and keep getting "1 1" ... Thanks before hand!
I am using a conveyor-belt slideshow script from Dynamic Drive and I am wanting to move the script to an external location. But when I do so, the slideshow does not stay in its original location.

I have inherited some code that changes the behavior or menu links with submenus to open the submenu but I need it to both open the submenu and go to the link location.
Here is the code: $('#leftNav #menu li a').click( function() { $('#leftNav #menu li a').removeClass('selectedAccordion'); $(this).addClass('selectedAccordion'); $('#leftNav #menu ul.currentnav li a').removeClass('selectedAccordion'); $('#leftNav #menu li ul li a').removeClass('selectedAccordion'); //$(this).parent('li').addClass('selectedAccordion'); var checkElement = $(this).next(); if((checkElement.is('ul')) && (checkElement.is(':visible'))){ return false; } if((checkElement.is('ul')) && (!checkElement.is(':visible'))) { if(checkElement.parent().parent().parent().is(':visible')) { checkElement.slideDown('normal'); return false; } $('#leftNav #menu ul:visible').slideUp('normal'); checkElement.slideDown('normal'); return false; }}
How do I put back the behavior to open the submenu AND go to the link location? I found I could add location.href = $(this).attr('href'); and go to the correct, but then the submenus slideUp and are hidden again. I can't figure out why changing the page closes the menus.
I need a script that can open an external page, or some type of content, in a box. This is kind of hard to explain, but here's what I mean, go to facepunch . com (I'm not a spambot dammit) and click on that litte face at the top.

</div> </div> </div><!-- End demo --> <div class="demo-description"> Fetch external content via Ajax for the tabs by setting an href value in the tab links. I'm using window.showModalDialog but having an issue trying to set the parent window(main browser). I open modal window A which is then opens modal window B, top of modal window B onload I do window.opener.close()". My issue now is when i'm finished with B I set parent window(main browser) to a new url with window.opener.location. So my problem is modal window A the parent has been closed so window.opener.location will not work.
Although the file "product.html" can be opened at the new page, but with scrollbar, menu, location, and so on, please help me to write the javascript code or others in order to remove all such features when open this page.
