Insert A Start Tag - But Not An End Tag

Jun 25, 2011

I need to isolate some auto-generated content that is displayed after an end </a> tag, and before a start <div> tag. This text doesn't have any surrounding tags itself, so I need to add some kind of hook to it in order to style it with CSS.

I have tried to use insertAfter to put a <span> after the </a> tag, and then an insertBefore to put a </span> before the <div> tag, but this just results in putting both the start and end <span> tags before the bit of text I want to isolate.

JQuery :: Cycle: Play Slideshow Manually OR Automatically?

Sep 6, 2010

I would like user to be able to switch photos manually (with "next" and "previous" links ) or automatically, i.e., to have a link on the page that says "play slideshow" or something, then the slides switch automatically, like this guy has here, [URL] ("play" link in the middle switches photos automatically; he doesn't use cycle plugin, but I'd like to do this w/cycle plugin if possible..)

Manually Abort JavaScript?

Jul 22, 2006

I'm playing around with forms and wrote a JavaScript
function that loops through all form elements and displays every option
in every select field with an alert for each one.

var els = form.elements;
var l = els.length;
for (var i=0; i<l; i++) // loop through all form elements
{
if (els[i].type.substring(0,6) == 'select')
{
var options = els[i].options;
for (var j=0, len=options.length; j<len; j++)
{
alert(els[i].name + ' option ' + j + ' = "' + options[j].text + '"')
}}}

In the form I am using this results in many alert boxes popping up.

This seems like a very, very basic question, but I've Googled it quite a
bit and can not find an answer. Is there a way to manually abort that
script (other than closing my browser) or do I have to keep clicking OK
until the loop has run it's complete course?

Calling Input Button Click Manually

Jul 23, 2005

In my javascript, when enter key is pressed, I want to simulate the effect
of clicking a button.

var mykey;
var posted=false;

if (window.Event){
document.captureEvents(Event.KEYDOWN);
}

document.onkeydown = myKeyDown;

function myKeyDown(e){

if (window.Event){
mykey = e.which;
}
else{
mykey = event.keyCode;
}
//alert(mykey);

var theform;
if (window.navigator.appName.toLowerCase().indexOf("netscape") > -1) {
theform = document.forms["Form1"];
}
else {
theform = document.Form1;
}

if ((mykey==13) && (posted==false) && (theform.btnSend.click))
{
posted=true;
theform.btnSend.click();
}
}

Everything works fine in IE4 to IE6. But NS behaviour is really bizzare.

Thing work as expected in NS7.

In NS6, theform.btnSend.click() does not cause form submission.

In NS4, it complains that theform.btnSend.click() does not exist (despite
having passed the if test that verifies theform.btnSend.click exists).

JQuery :: Start New Div On <hr/>?

Mar 18, 2011

Problem: I have a piece of HTML-content, with <hr/> as section breaks. I want to replace the <hr/> with a new <div>. Thus, original: <div>Test test test<hr/>Test test test</div> Result: <div>Test test test </div<div>Test test test</div> With $('hr').replaceWith('</div><div>') it does not work, because the replacement is not valid HTML.

I want to create columns, with <hr/> the column-divider. Perhaps there is also a better solution. The editor is creating the content and inserting HR's where a new column should start.

JQuery :: Finishing An Animation Before Another Can Start?

Aug 15, 2011

I have a page on a site that features a list with clickable items in it. When one item is clicked, a div slides down that displays another div with more clickable items. What I am finding is that when I click on two items in the first div quickly, two divs drop down and clutter up the space on the site forcing everything else on the page downward.

$('#cars').click(function () {$("li").removeClass("active_class");
$("#cars").addClass("active_class");
$(".car_type").hide();
$("#cars_div").slideDown("slow");

[Code]..

So basically, the <li> with the id of "cars" removes any active class from the list items, adds the class to the currently selected <li> hides the .car_type and slides down the matching #cars_div. If I click on "cars" and "trucks" quickly, both divs with the class car_type are displayed at the same time.

Is there an easier way to complete all these tasks while toggling between the div that is displayed so only one shows at a time?

JQuery :: Start Webpage In Certain Area?

Jun 1, 2009

Looking for a script that will start a website at a custom location [URL]tarts page at top: 800px, left: 400px) I am NOT looking for any sort of popup window positioning. When a visitor access the site using their browser I want that page to start at a location I specify like this website does: Please note, I realize this site uses anchor tags to accomplish this. I'm not good enough at Jquery to know how they did it, or modify it so that it also handles points left as well as top.The ideal script would position this point in the center of the browser window.

JQuery :: Image Slider - How To Start With First Element

Feb 2, 2011

I created that function for an image slider:
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#gallery").click(function(){
$(this).find("li.third").fadeOut(800).removeClass("third").next().addClass("third").fadeIn(800);
$(this).find("li.second").fadeOut(800).removeClass("second").next().addClass("second").fadeIn(800);
$(this).find("li.first").next().addClass("first").fadeIn(800); $($(this).find("li.first")[0]).removeAttr("class").hide().appendTo($(this)).fadeIn(800);
});
});

Actually I want to fade in the first picture first. Than the second and at the end the third. To achieve that I changed the order of these following three lines:
$(this).find("li.first").next().addClass("first").fadeIn(800);
$(this).find("li.second").fadeOut(800).removeClass("second").next().addClass("second").fadeIn(800);
$(this).find("li.third").fadeOut(800).removeClass("third").next().addClass("third").fadeIn(800);Unfortunately it doesn't work.
