I have a .js file, we want to make it to load a html file right next to it, both files are on client system. I couldn't find any such examples and some posts talked about JavaScript security issues, I wonder if it is related to what I want.
Someone said .js file is not really JaveScript file, though Microsoft named it 'JavaScript'.
note that I am trying to "call" .html file from the .js file, not embed html code in .js.

I've ran into the problem I can't load local XML files from another directory then the html file is located.
When I try loading XML trough an ajax request with the url "content.xml" everything works fine. As soon as I want the XML to be loaded from another folder, e.g. "../../../content.xml" it doesnt enter my success function.

I was trying to display a pdf file inside a HTML div and was using JQuery $('#divid').load(url) to load the file inside a div. While other HTML files are loading properly, i am facing problem loading a pdf file.
The content does not get rendered properly, i am not sure whether this load function is supposed to handle this, but is there any other way to load a pdf inside a div?

I have a single webpage that contains information on all 50 U.S. states. There are 50 links at the top to jump down to the state you want, and at the bottom of the information for each state a Back to Top link.
I'm making the Back to Top link into something more complex, and it will require three or four lines of code.
So that I don't have to repeat the code 50 times, and create a burden when I need to edit it, I want to place it in a .js file and call it x. Then below the information for each state I'll simply have:

This script is within a blank webpage on my IIS server. Essentially, all the elements of the web app's UI get thrown within a div, but it doesn't seem to be loading the other parts of the page such as the <head>. I read on another thread that it is not a good idea to try and put everything within a div cause of the other html and head tags that already exist. I have Win 7, IE9. I have a HTML file on my hard drive, with Javascript within. When I load the page, it keeps popping up Do u want to allow this content, I have to click to allow. I want to stop this, and after doing some searching I found the setting in Internet Options, Advanced - "Allow active content to run in files on my computer".

Getting quite annoying, because this file is my home page.
My prob is that the huge amount of data (15MB of XML) that is loaded by an AJAX call, literally locks the browser while loading it into the DOM. Does any of you know if there is a way to prevent that. Btw - As you see I use jQuery and the ajaxManager plugin.

I want my site to be easy to update so that when I make a html change it will update throughout all of my pages. So I want to have the page load both the top and bottom parts of the page.
I would use a frame or iframe but those are not good for search engines.

When I load a JSON file locally, I receive the following error in my Firefox console: "not well-formed / file:///<fileLocation>/data.json / Line: 1 / {}". The loading otherwise seems successful, as I can interact with the loaded JavaScript object. For this example, I'm loading an empty JSON object, but this error occurs with non-empty JSON objects, too.

i have a page which loads content into a div from a hidden div. There are about 8 hidden divs all loaded with content loaded. Then when the user clicks a link the visible div is loaded with the content from one of them. Is this the best way? or should i be loading the content from another script via $.get()?
i use the same thing on my PM system which loads 10 hidden divs. So should i really be using $.get() for this aswell?

so if i click on the toggle div.. nothing happens so i tried to put a <p id="toggle"> in the navigation bar which is static (not being load()-ed in via jQuery) and it worked so it seems to me, that jQuery can't get the click event out of the load()-ed page
