Jan 22, 2009I am using javascript to switch between a series of divs, on clicking a navigation tab the divs display property is set to 'block' and all other divs have their display property set to 'none'. That works fine, the problem I have is when I redirect to another page (e.g. a PHP script) on return to the index the divs have reset and only the default div is shown, rather than the div that was showing when the user left the page. The solution, as I see it, is two stages: Write a function to display the relevant div based on the variable passed to it, then work out how to pass this variable around various pages (post/get). I am very inexperienced with javascript and it drives me mad that the script literally does nothing rather than throwing up an error (as in PHP) but this is what I have so far in terms of a function:

May 12, 2010There is a project called Seed which allows JavaScript programs to run on the Linux desktop. There is connected project called SeedKit which runs HTML files as a Graphical User Interface front end for JavaScript files run by Seed. It acts like a webpage which rather than linked to a web-server is linked to a JavaScript program with HTML events like buton clicks etc that drives JavaScript much in the same way as normal desktop Graphical toolkits do. Both projects are quite new so is very experimental. I am not involved in the development of any of the projects but I am trying to create a few examples to show how it works. My first example is to take the contents of the log folder /var/log, display it in the SeedKit HTML file and when a user clicks on it, it displays the contents of the log file.The way I am going about this is firstly to create a two column table in the HTML thus:

The table on the HTML file is populated with the file names but I can't get the contents of the specific div I have clicked on. I tried $(this).text() but it displays all the text in the table.
JQuery :: Binding Events To Dynamically Created Divs?
Aug 26, 2009I have a page with a div that contains other divs. In the outer div, I have links that add new divs inside. I also have a link outside the outer div that adds more of those outer divs to the page (with an inner div, and the same links to add more). This works on the div that is hard coded on the page, but when I use the link to add additional container divs the links inside there to add more inner divs does not function.

JQuery :: Display Divs In A Specified Order?
Mar 22, 2010I have a list of checkboxes that a user can select and drag and drop in any order. The selected items and the order thatthey are in are saved in a cookie value (using a cookie plugin). The function below retrieves the cookie value and loops through the values stored in the cookie and now I want to display only those div sections which are in the cookie and in the same order (this is the part that I'm having trouble with). I have each div with a style of display:none and I could just just the display: value to show them but how do I output them/display them in the same order as the cookie value?

Dec 13, 2011I've used countdown timers etc. that use the Jquery library, so I know it's possible for Jquery to retrieve the date and time for use.I was wondering if there is a way to limit the time a DIV is shown depending on the time or date. For example:

Loop A Js Process That Dynamically Appends Hidden Divs ?
Jan 22, 2010I'm trying to add some js automation to a blogging application I've developed for a wysiwig site builder program. This program doesn't allow php or any kind of server scripting, so everything has to be done with js. The basic set up is that a user enters a blog post in the application and the code below appends a comments div (which are already on the page but hidden by css) to the post:

Instead of using this code for every post instance, I'd like to create a simple loop that will assign an incremental number to the post and comments id's when a new post appears in the page's html, and then append a comments div to the post. I tried a for routine that would add 1 to every post, but couldn't get it to work right.

May 3, 2010I'm fairly new to jQuery and JavaScript. I've beat around the block a couple times modifying code from here and there, but never written anything myself. Just thought I'd warn you.I'm writing a tidbit of code that is going to be used for a photographer's website. The concept of the site is very simple; I am going to have Drupal generating two lists. The first list is simply photographs, semantically they just come one after another. The second is a list of div tags that contain a description of the photographs.The only way that the imagescorrelatecurrently is their semantic order. The first image should be matched with the first description, the second image with the second description, and so on. I do plan on changing this, but for the time being it is not my main concern.
Because the number of images added to the page might not necessarily be limited, I need to have jQuery pair up the images with the proper description, and then display it on hover—dynamically. My current method requires me to write out each hover functionindividually.This is a problem because, as I have mentioned, the amount of photos on any given page should not be limited.Currently I have the functionality that I want, with the exception of the dynamic creation of functions. finding is that only the first setInterval call is being fired and then the scripts stops.
Using Form/function To Hide And Display <divs>
Jul 31, 2009I have two left floated divs - in the left div I want a series of drop downs (possibly check boxes as well) about a series of products. When the user makes their decision and presses submit, I want the form to submit to a javascript function that says "Right, you will need, from your responses, product C" and in the right hand floated div, a series of hidden product info divs whose visibility is changed depending on which product the function determines is the one for you.
Broken down into parts I think I need to do the following:
a) Standard HTML form with drop downs etc and submit
b) Hidden divs
c) Submission process locally to javascript function to determine which product to show/hide
d) Javascript function that makes the decision
e) Javascript that hides/shows products
Unfortunately a server side option is not available; it has to be a client side solution and I only could think of javascript. I can probably handle all bar c) and d)

However, when I apply the datepicker to a textbox with the initial value dynamically set to display a value from a database, the date picker genertes an error when anything on it is selected. The datepicker will display when the trigger icon is selected but you cannot select anything from the date picker without generating the following errors: When selecting:
a day: 'undefined' is null or not an object (ui.datepicker.js line 767) a month or year: 'input' is null or not an object (ui.datepicker.js line 755) a back or forward arrow: 'settings' is null or not an object (u.i datepicker.js line 1137) I have looked at these lines in the file, but I have no idea where to begin.
Randomizing DIVs - Display Only One Of The Tags On Each Page Load

I need to randomize these DIV tags (id="d1" - "d5") to display only one of the tags on each page load. Only one div is displayed at a time, and every 5 seconds, the next div slides over the top of the current div (from right to left) until it is completely obscured. At the conclusion of the fifth, it starts again with number 1.

I got it to work by GetElementsByTagName('div') but it then selects all divs rather then the select few i actually want it to work on. I tried changing the selection to GetElementsByName but this doesn't work, why i don't really know.

JQuery :: Show Two Separate Divs, Hide Divs On One Click?
Aug 19, 2009I'm looking for some javascript to work with wordpress (jQuery preferrably) that will show/hide multiple divs on one click.
I had one working but it was kinda janky because it was causing me to have two divs with the same ID on one page. No good.
Since I updated to wp2.8.3 prior to launch, it's not working. So I've decided to just try and do it right.

So, what I want to happen: On page load, the first tab: "general" and it's corresponding div beneath should be showing. And the first image should be showing. The other content divs and images should be hidden. I've given the text content divs a dashed border to show their borders. When a visitor clicks "dine at home" the general div and image hide, the second content div shows, as does the second image (it's currently the identical image, but the client may change later.) Etc.
I'll be using this function on a few other pages as well.
how to adjust this javascript to work on two different IDs at once?
