i want to create a form that allows a user to enter his/her info then display the result overlayed a bg image [URL]
My question has to do with fonts. Does this work if the user does not have the same font on their system?
If yes, what is this called (as in, what should I be searching for (google or dev shed)). [don't need to be baby-sat if I know how to feed myself :-) ].
what I am exactly trying to do is get data from a form, push that data into an array of objects and when a "display" button is clicked, to display the data in the form a div layer with a table in it for each object created. I have problems with dynamically creating the divs. Here's my code
As you can see in the "action" attribute, I'm calling this function:
function SubmitEditedInvoice(invno) { $.post('output.php?mode=6&invno=' + invno, $('#formEditInvoice' + invno).serialize(), function(output){[code]....
The problem I'm having is that no data is passed to the PHP back end. I have verified that the variable invno is correctly passed to the javascript function, and have tested my .serialize() by using a hard-coded form ID, but I still get no data passed through.
I am analyzing header tags for submitting forms online in order to better understand how htmlhttp forms work- signing in to gmail, yahoo mail, and amazon, using the network tab of google developer tools, to view the http headers of requests and responses, and learn where they come from. I am seeing very peculiar behavior in my browser's (chrome)request headers when signing into amazon. The form data, always has the following two header names appended to the second and third to last places of the form data query: x=(some random number), and y=(some random number).
There are no input tags getting dynamically generated,since when i tell google chrome to break on all subtree modifications, the site still sends off the post with the added parameters before anything gets modified, BEFORE crashing. There also is NO ajax call which is causing dynamically added data to be appended to the form post.My question is this: is there any way, using javascript, to instruct a browser, to append data as data, to a form post, WITHOUT the use of dynamically appended input elements, or ajax?
Ive got a collection of forms all with check boxes, its basically a coffee menu with four sections.
Say for example the user selects (clicks check box) a small cappuccino, a latte, and an espresso, how can i get the input names (name+size of coffee) to appear with the value (cost of coffee) in another div so i can then calculate sub-total, add vat etc
So far ive only managed to get the users selections to appear where i want using jQuery serialize, however im having a little trouble picking out the values to carry out calculations on them.
note : this is a made up project for a fake client and cant involve any server side scripting.
Someone on this site made a form for me that hides and displays fields, depending on which variable is chosen from a given array. They did a very good job with it with one exception. It seems the code that is used to hide certain fields also hides the form data rather than posting it when the form is submitted.
Here is the code for both the java (listed first) and the form itself.
// Funtion // Description: show or hide element in the form according to selected element // function show_hide(){ if (!document.getElementById) return false;
Relatively new to jQuery but have a problem with getting data to display.Using a webform with 2 forms. User slects and inputs data into the first form, clicks a button then using jQuery .ajax submits the serialized data to a php script. The script processes the input into multiple paragraphs of text which is based on the input from the first form.The data is returned to the webpage and displayed in a text area (of the 2nd form) where the user can edit it to fine tune the wording. The 2 forms are displayed in different tabs so it is easy to move back and forward between the 2 forms.
The problem occurs when the user goes back to the first form and enters or selects different text and then click the submit button to generate a whole new text for insertion into the textarea on the second form. For certain fields the modified text is displayed.However if the whole of the text in the textarea is deleted, then the user clicks the submit button to re-generate the text content area then nothing at all is ever interted into the textarea. If have user alert to check that data is returned from the php handler and this text is correct. BUT when I click on the tab to see the textarea (id is "draftrec") there is no text inserted. The relevant function is below and the line that should insert the text into the textarea is:
At the moment i am using javascript to show and hide elements to show notifications, but this doesnt work well because i can not show more than one notification, so i would like to be able to dynamically create and destroy elements like:
create element set class set innerHTML display wait for user input and destroy
How do I dynamically display images in javascript without hardcoding it. I cannot use php or any other language. My teacher said it is doable in javascript. so right now I have it hardcoded in:
var bellTowerArray = new Array(); bellTowerArray[0] = "bellTower01.jpg"; bellTowerArray[1] = "bellTower02.jpg"; bellTowerArray[2] = "bellTower03.jpg";
[Code]....
I have multiple categories of images so not just these two. I don't want to have to type in fountain# etc and stuff like that.
I would like to use jQuery to prepopulate a form - ie make a call to a php program to get data from a database and pre-populatea form with appropriate data for the user. Can anyone point me in the right direction for some examples on the simplest way to do this?

I'm working on my personal website, and I got everything up and going mostly. I have a menu going down the left of the web page (Home, About Me, Recent Programs, etc). On the right, I have the main content area with a div named 'content'. It's a pain in the butt when I modify my menu because I have to go to each page and C/P.
I just learned about AJAX, and was wondering how to dynamically refresh my 'content' div with specific information. Currently while in Dreamweaver, it dynamically displays correctly. When I preview in Firefox, Chrome, and Internet Explorer, nothing happens
I've spent about a day trying to figure it out on my own, and nothing has changed. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I've tried different variations and different approaches as mentioned by websites. Bottom line I guess is:
I am writing a small data entry screen that will post the form data to a page and return a message. But i cannot get the Success or Error functions working properly.
Here's the code where strData is the posted querystring of:
I'm not sure whether it should be in a form and using the onsubmit or click of a button.
i am creating a table dynamically using java script- the number of cells in a row is constant and the data is accepted from the user from x text boxes(based on number of cells).now, i want to insert a button in the x+1th cell of each row and i want to extract the data in the row that contains the button that gets clicked back into the text boxes for editing.how do i go about doing this? dynamically creating the table is not a problem, but am not able to extract the row data for editing :-(i forgot to mention this- but after editing the data in the text box, i need to be able to insert the data back into the same row from which the data was extracted in the first place...
I have an issue in dynamically assigning Onclick/<a href> action to the data within <td> cell.
Am pulling out data from a XML file, and displaying it as a table data on HTML page within a for loop. But within a loop, when am trying to do <a href> for the data by providing a dynamically changing URL value, the data is not getting displayed.
I donot know how to do it!! code...
In the code, name is the data element that am pulling from XML file.
On clicking each name, an URL should appear which has name as part of it.
For example, if the name is Kiran, then the URL will be 'Kiran.html'.
Is it possible to do it this way? Please suggest if there is any other way?Kiran.html
Here's what I'd like to do using pure JavaScript and HTML (no Ajax or PHP): My website loads different JavaScript files dynamically which contain a bunch of data, that I will display on the website. The dynamical loading function is placed in the <HEAD> and looks like that:
Code: function loadJsFile(filename){ console.log("loading js file") var fileref=document.createElement('script') fileref.setAttribute("type","text/javascript") fileref.setAttribute("src", filename) fileref.onload = dataIsLoaded; if (typeof fileref!="undefined"){ document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0].appendChild(fileref) }}
The dataIsLoaded method in there is a callback that is triggered when the JavaScript file has been loaded: Code: function dataIsLoaded(){ console.log("loading js file done") dataLoaded = true; data = new Data(); }
DataLoaded is simply a global boolean that is per default false and the 'data' variable contains all the data I want to display on my site. While the JavaScript file is being loaded, the browser continues building the site. When it gets to the <body> that wants to access some information from the data variable, I get the unsurprising error that 'data' is undefined. I looked for a way to wait until 'data' is defined and then continue with building the <body> but couldn't find a solution.
Alternatively I wanted to reload the divs in the <body> when the 'data' is available: Code: function reloadDivs(){ if(dataLoaded){ console.log("data available, reloading divs"); document.getElementById('someDiv').innerHTML = document.getElementById('someDiv').innerHTML }else{ console.log("data is not yet available"); setTimeout('loadReportData();', 500); }} This does not work, I get a blank div when I do that.
I'm fairly new to jQuery and JavaScript. I've beat around the block a couple times modifying code from here and there, but never written anything myself. Just thought I'd warn you.I'm writing a tidbit of code that is going to be used for a photographer's website. The concept of the site is very simple; I am going to have Drupal generating two lists. The first list is simply photographs, semantically they just come one after another. The second is a list of div tags that contain a description of the photographs.The only way that the imagescorrelatecurrently is their semantic order. The first image should be matched with the first description, the second image with the second description, and so on. I do plan on changing this, but for the time being it is not my main concern.
Because the number of images added to the page might not necessarily be limited, I need to have jQuery pair up the images with the proper description, and then display it on hover—dynamically. My current method requires me to write out each hover functionindividually.This is a problem because, as I have mentioned, the amount of photos on any given page should not be limited.Currently I have the functionality that I want, with the exception of the dynamic creation of functions. You can view what I have managed to do so far athttp://calvintennant.ca/blakeley.me/mock.htm.I have attached a .zip with all the files used to create that mock-up.
I am currently encountering a problem with setting "display" property from "none" to "block":
Browsers will refresh itself when the display property is changed; this causes the element to display then suddenly disappear after the page reload. Do you guys have an idea what I can do to avoid it?
I tried using jquery's show command, css command with setting display to block, and pure javascript method like document.getElementById("theId").style.display="block".
I have two text fields one is TECH field and another is JOB NUMBER... If I type a number in the tech field and If I select a number from the autopopulated/autosuggested list of tech number(which is queried from the database) it should display a dropdown list of JOBNUMBERS associated to that particular TECH number. The TECH is not a Primary key in database)
This is the code that I have to fetch the and the tech number will be the autosuggest field for which I have used JQUERY..
I want to create a recipe site with similar functionality to a feature on coolspotters. I've only dabbled in jQuery so I'm not sure how complicated it would be to do this. Basically what I want to do is allow a user to add recipes to dynamically created lists. For example if a user searches for Italian food they should be able to create a list called "Italian" and add italian recipes to the list. Or if they do a search for Japanese dishes they will be able to create a list called "Japanese" and add Japanese recipes to it, etc. I know their would be some back-end code involved but I was wondering if jQuery could handle the front-end. I've only dabbled in jQuery so this sounds like a complex thing to do.
I am having a single row which repeat dynamically. My issue is i want to make alternate colors in rows. (i.e white n gray) I can put the class for the row. but when it repeats it get the same bg color. How can i do the alternate thing.?
I am running through a MySQL database using PHP and extracting all of the makes of cars in that database and trying to create a JavaScript array named after each make. Then I am trying to fill each array will all of the models for that make. When I just try to display each Make and Model in an alert box it seems to come up right. And my arrays seem to be getting created but they won't populate with the models (even though my alert msg shows the loops and everything is working).
PHP Code:
while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { $i=0; //Used so each model is added to the array starting at 0 and ++ $make = $row['make'];//PHP var used to extract data from MySQL

Haven't used JavaScript since a college class a couple of years ago and haven't used it in the real world for even longer. Never with PHP like this. But I am working on this marketing site and need to be able to list products by type according to each brand and as they can be added to a MySQL database it needs to be dynamic. I have the whole thing working by stepping through separate pages using PHP to populate select fields with the data but I want to be able to dynamically add the content to select field using JavaScript so it can all be done on one page and thought that if I could create these arrays on page load then the right information could be selected client side.
