JQuery :: Ajax Call When Clicked On A Link

Feb 16, 2011

I am using an ajax call when clicked on a link... It asks whether you want to continue or not and if you say "ok" then it uses a perl script to delete something from the db.[code]So I was able to call confirm on each of those links and if agreed use an ajax call to a perl script to wipe the user from database. The thing is that I had to usereturn false; in the end of my js call (after ajax) otherwise the link would take me to the script, which I dont want to. I want to remain at main level (to be able to see all users)... Now how do i refresh the page after such deletion? Lets image this scenario:

User clicks on link_to_delete Brad => confirm => he confirms by clicking ok => ajax call to perl script that handles the deletion of Brad => return false (I want to remain at index.pl) => HOW DO I REALOAD INDEX.pl ? I deleted Brad but I can still see him cause the page has old data.

JQuery :: First Page Displayed When Link Clicked Again

Dec 21, 2011

I have written a very simple test. When I click on a link the page is loaded, then I press the back-button and when I click the link again, the page is loaded BUT then the first page is automatically displayed again. In Google chrome this works fine, but on iPhone 4, HTC WildFire S and HTC Sensation it does not work.

Please try this:
1. Navigate to "[URL]" (==> shows PAGE 1)
2. Just press "login" (form is not implemented) (==> shows PAGE 2)
3. Click on the first item "Click here" (==> shows PAGE 3)
4. Press back-button (==> shows PAGE 2)
5. Click on the first item "Click here" again ( ==> shows PAGE3 BUT then PAGE 2 is automatically shown again)

JQuery :: Change Mouse Pointer When A Link Is Clicked?

I'm making a webpage for a little embedded device with a touch screen. This properly hides the cursor after the first page is loaded but it doesn't display the hour glass when I click on the link. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

JQuery :: Getting A Selector Working - Expect The Class Of 'testclass' To Be Applied To The Button After The Link Is Clicked

Feb 7, 2010

I'm having trouble getting a selector working. Probably best just to give you some example code:

HTML
<input type='button' class='test' value='Button Name'>
<div>
<a href='' class='buttonLink' />Click me</a>
</div>
Jquery
$(.buttonLink).click(function() { $(this).closest(':button.test').addClass('testclass'); });

Form that code I would expect the class of 'testclass' to be applied to the button after the link is clicked, but It doesn't seem to work. This is a somewhat contrived example. In my real application I have a form with several collapsable/expandable sections. If the fields in those form sections have values when the page loads, the section needs to be expanded, and the expand/collapse button needs to have a class of 'expaned' applied to it, if not it needs to be hidden. I can check the form fields and show the div if needed without any problem, but I can't seem to figure out how to work out the selector so I can add the class to the button.

JQuery :: Selecting Sections - Delete (actually Hide) Either A Salesperson Or Client Depending On Which Link The User Clicked

Jul 18, 2011

I am building a web application using PHP. It lists each salesperson and below it, the clients assigned to them. There are only about 5 or 6 salespeople. There could be any number of clients for a salesperson. Each salesperson is given their own div and client information (name, email, phone) is grouped with an unordered list:

Code:
<div id="salesperson-1">
<h1>Salesperson 1</h1>
<ul>
<li>Steve Smith</li>
<li>steve@company-a.com</li>
<li>555-5555</li>
<li><a href="#">Delete Client</a></li>
</ul>
<a href="#">Delete Salesperson</a>
</div>

I would like to be able to delete (actually hide) either a salesperson or client depending on which link the user clicked. I have been using JQuery throughout my site so far and I can accomplish the task for the salespeople by creating individual events for 6 salespeople. If there are only 5 people, the 6th event will never be triggered. If there are 6, everyone is covered. The tricky part are the clients since I can't guarantee a specific number of them. I would like to fit best practices as much as possible and reduce the complexity of my code if I can. Keeping that in mind...Is there a better way to handle the salespeople rather than rewriting the function 6 times? Can I pass a variable to a JQuery function using the onClick binder on the <a> tag --> <a href="#" onClick=deleteClient(10)> and use the variable to determine which client to delete? Would using a function in plain javascript and ignoring JQuery for this entirely be better?

JQuery :: Can't Figure Out Physically Change Index Order Of Selected Elements?

Mar 31, 2010

I'm attempting to physically change the index order of the elements returned by a selector.For example, I'm attempting to make it so when someone clicks on a button, it swaps the index position of the element above or below it (depending on which button they press).I tried to assign it using something like $('.draggable :eq(2)').attr('index', 3)But it didn't seem to work. Is there a way to do it using jQuery, or do I have to change it within DOM itself? Or is there another way to do it?
