JQuery :: Dynamically Add Link After Certain Hrefs?

I work on a portal website that has approximately 700 pages and several thousand links.Some of these links are to various documents (.doc, .pdf, .xls). I would like to use Jquery to dynamically find these links on a page when the pages load and add another link directly after it that can invoke a modal window. When the modal window opens I need to hold onto the values of the original link as it will be stored in a DB. So I think I will need the second link to contain the first links name and URL pattern as some sort of property that I can store. I am not sure the best way to accomplish this. For example:

e new to jQuery and have a question. I'm populating a table with rows where some of the columns include links and buttons. For some of these links and buttons I want to run some jQuery stuff before it's redirected (acually, I want to have the result loaded in a div via ajax). In the jQuery function I want to be able to extract the ID of the button or the href target that was clicked.

Iīve gone thru a few exaples of the 'hello world' equivalent for ajax; the classic example having main.html with div id="main_panel", then having ON THE SAME folder of the main.html file, the few files for getting via ajax and then render itīs content inside div id=main_panel and so on, happy with that;my question is: All of those examples, always get those 'few files', lets say, one.html, two.html, and so, in the same folder where main.html resides; I want to achieve to have the 'some files' in a different folder, letīs say, /editors/ relative to the path where main.html is; Iīve done this, the ajax call works fine; the PROBLEM is that the xmlhttpresponse (consumed ajax text) wich is basically html 4, changes the links (hrefs) in those to the path of main, letīs say, for example, one.html has a link that points to itself, not an anchor, just a link pointing to itself as we often use for pagination of a grid, well, that link href attribute is changed to the path of the main.html file, and not preserving the original href attribute... why? where should I start from? changing the context parametere prior to calling ajax get?

I want to use an anchor tag to invoke some javascript and I've read that it's bad form to use <a href="javascript:foo()">
I've read endless usenet posts and hint sites on the net, they all suggest different things and I can't get any kind of consistency, and I can't find any solution that works properly for IE, opera and mozilla.
many of the recommended solutions go something like this:
<a href="javascript:void(0);" onclick="foo()" />
this generates an <a> that looks like a hyperlink (good) and it invokes foo() as well (also good). the problem is that if in function foo, I put
window.location.href = "some new url";
it just seems to get ignored. If I miss out the href altogether, the link works but it's not formatted as a hyperlink.
All I'm trying to do is make something that looks like a normal hyperlink but whereby I can build the URL with some javascript rather than having it coded into the HTML, and I have to say it's driving me mad!!.

Ok so i'm trying to write a Greasemonkey script to change all the hrefs on a single page. The href by default looks like this:
<a href="javascript:get('246154895')" class="postid">ID</a>
What i'm trying to do is make the number from get() appear in stead of "ID". How should i get this done? I started up with this:
var posts = document.getElementsByClassname('postid');
for (i=0; i<posts.length; i++) {

}
But i doubt it will work, since there are other items with the class "postid" that aren't related to these tags i'm trying to change.

I am new to jquery but i have figured out how to link datepicker to a dynamically generated tablethis funtion works but only posts the date to my ajax call (Array ( [date] => 04/01/2009 ) for example)I need for it to post the id of the original input which i than can derive the actual id of the mysql file so i can update the correct date ( for example id = "picker_2343", the attached number would actually be the file id )so how can i include in $_POST the original input id or class id ??, $_GET could work also....

I have a set of scripts which rely on the ability to dynamically load css by constructing <link> elements via DOM scripting, and appending them into the page header. It works, for the most part, extremely well, but I need to be able to attach an onload function to said links. Unfortunately, this only seems to work in IE, not in FireFox or Safari (the three being my 'target' browsers under which the whole system needs to work.) Any means by which I can determine via Javascript whether such a link has finished loading? It doesn't have to be via onload if it's unsupported, but I need to be able to implement it across IE / Mozilla / Safari.

I have a website with several pages. Each page having the same menu.I need one of this menu item's text to vary according to each of my customers, where the customer id will be passed from an external link at launch time.I also need to change the menu item link <a href.../a> dynamically.I'm planning to create a redir.html pacge for each client and within that page, I can insert a url with parameters to launch the main page.

I am using the Collapsible Checkbox Tree jquery Plugin.For that I have inserted this linein the javascrypt code:
When I make a list in the HTML code using the <ul id="example"> works perfectly.
But when I tried to make the list dynamically calling a JSON file, does not works fine.
If I insert theready(fn) mentioned above inside the javascrypt function that create dynamically the element<ul >as is shown next:
Improves a little bit, but still does not work fine. Specifically does not show the plus and minus sign, then I can not open or collapse it.
I tried also with thecheckboxtree pluginand I encountered the same problem.

I'm building a t-shirt shop whose interface includes a gallery of designs in an IFrame. When the user clicks on a design, a dedicated page is loaded into the IFrame which shows all the available products associated with the design the user clicked.
I've put each design's image and associated page as the first and second elements of a nested array, and am using a for loop to then load all the images into the page that's shown in the IFrame when the web-site loads. It's looking beautiful, but here's the rub I've been stuck on for two days now with no solution in sight...
The array, "designImages", has 37 elements (ie. designImages[0]... designImages[36]). When I click on a design image on the page, any design image, the browser (all browsers, so I can't blame Microsoft for this one :rolleyes: ), loads the page for design #36. I've tried all sorts of things, but still cannot tell if the issue is because the dynamically generated divs are being reassigned the value [36] after the for loop's executed, or if the div id's are okay but somehow the code is rooting for [36], the last element of the array anyway.

I have strip of navigation tabs, which are marked up as a <ul> and styled to look like tabs with borders and all that. In my stylesheet I have the pseudo-classes for :link , :visited , :hover , :active and all of those work fine.
But I'd like to have the browser highlight whichever link a viewer is currently on by having Javascript activate the already defined :active pseudo-class. What's the syntax for that? Is it even possible?
I've been googling for almost an hour and havn't gotten anything.

I'm trying to append the title attribute to the text of my link. I've got it working, except for the fact that all three links are showing the first link's attribute. Check out the demo at http://outdoor/fuelmultimedia.ca Hover over the Products menu item, and you'll see the drop-down with the attributes.This is the code I'm currently using:

I'm new to jQuery and have a problem with links inside an accordion.
The simplified code looks like this:

The problem is, that the links inside the table are not active. If i click them, the accordion is closing What do i have to do, to keep the links inside the open accordion as normal links, without closing the accordion?

I'm using Firefox 3.5.5 on Vista 32 Home Premium SP2 and only recently noticed that (javascript/jquery being enabled) link focus is lost when you tab through a page, follow the link to another page and then hit the backspace key to come back. Tab navigation continues at top of page, not with the next link after the one in focus before.
No problems in this respect with IE8 and Opera. As soon as you disable javascript with noscript, the problem disappears and link focus stays, so that tabbing brings on the next link instead of starting on top of page again.
Just confirmed it on jquery/com (following navigation link to Plugins and hitting backspace) and on learningjquery/com (navigation links). A Google search didn't yield any answers nor even any similar reports on this particular problem.
It's even more irksome in my particular case, since I have just implemented a stylesheet switcher in order to enhance certain accessibility aspects, but ironically this particular bug leads to a loss of accessibility.
Does anybody know what might be the reason (version 1.3.2.min related?, cookies related?, etc.) for this and how to solve it?

At this point I have been able to add the row. But what I want to do and am having trouble with is alternating the row colour to the dynamically added row element.
Sample of code I am using:

i want the link only to change color when clicked and content changes in window "#gallery". Then when click on another link, it goes back to original color and new link is now changed. Basically, only when link is acitve or focused on then it's new color so user knows link and content that's being viewed.

Umm, this is a tricky one to add a descriptive title for!
Basically I have two links on the page that go to the same page when clicked. What I want to do is when I hover over one of those links for the hover to work for both of them and visa versa.
So I have this links

Im updating a website to use ajax instead of Iframes. Ajax is working fine to load html content into a <div> yet my issue lies with the navigation buttons that trigger my ajax requests.
I have css styled buttons that contain <a> links </a>, i have removed the href and used a onclick event instead but when i remove the href the mouse will lose its hand cursor on hover and the css styled buttons stop working correctly.
