JQuery :: Calling A Function From Page Load?

Apr 27, 2009

I'm using this code to create a modal box:

$(document).ready(function() {
//select all the a tag with name equal to modal
$('a[name=modal]').click(function(e) {
//Cancel the link behavior

[Cpde].....

I've come across a problem however, as i need a modal box to appear when a page loads, but i can't work out how to call the function at the top.

I guess it is just a case of in the:

$(document).ready(function() {}

of the page i want this to appear straight away calling the function:

$('a[name=modal]').click(function(e) {

but i don't know how to reference it, or if it can be?

Ajax :: Cannot Call User Defined JS Function After Return The Content?

Dec 6, 2010

I am having a problem of calling the user defined JS function after I make the AJAX call. Basically, I created couple radio buttons on the main html page. When the user clicks on one of the radio button, it will trigger the AJAX call and return another html file in the "div" content that I set in the main html page. The other html file contains a user defined JS function (e.g. "updateContent()") which use the onclick event handler to call the function. When I'm running the app, and click on the button. I had seen the firebug was complaining the "updateContent() is not defined" error. The function itself works fine and must be defined properly.

Here is the code in the main.html page:

Code:

Ajax :: Calling A PHP Function?

Aug 27, 2008

I have a page that has php code at the top. Ajax before the body tag and a form. I need to be able to call a php function (the one at the top of my page) that adds info from the form into the DB. Normally I'd do this in the traditional sense of "if($_REQUEST('submit')" but I have a jquery progress bar that works with ajax to request progress data from the server. The following code is the code that retrieves the data from the server:

if (@$_GET['id']) {
echo json_encode(uploadprogress_get_info($_GET['id']));
exit();
}

This as you can see executes repeatedly till the upload is finished. The problem is I can't incorporate my database insertion code with this because the progress bar stops working altogether.

Ajax :: Calling The Same Function For Each Onchange, Or Different Functions?

I'm trying to build a t-shirt creator application w/ php and ajax.You can see where I'm at here.Thus far, I've successfully passed the first parameter from the form via a function called from an onchange event, which uses a php script to pass simple text (for the time being, 'til i get this figured out), which you can see working on the page.trying to update the output w/ each change they make via the form. For every step, the output on the right needs to update.Should I be calling the same function for each onchange, or different functions? Here's what I'm using as far as AJAX/form goes:

JQuery :: Ajax Load Function - Show / Hide Report DIV

Jul 28, 2009

I have a function that uses the ajax load function to post off some parameters and fill a div with the returned content after a db query has been run to create it. This all works fine, however I would like to be able to replace the div with a loading graphic whilst the content
is generated. I assumed this was done by placing the graphic at the start of the function, then using a callback function to remove it and display the actual data once it has been fully generated...

However when I trey to implement this I am getting a strange result in that the callback fires before the content is generated. So my loading graphic disappears and then the content appears sometimes 10 seconds later. How can I ensure the call back only executes once the new content is
ready to be displayed ??

Here's my code ...
function get_report(){
// Hide #report_here div and show loading graphic here ...
$("#report_here").load("/admin/reports/statistics_report/", {
// Parameters sent go here
}, finished()
);
function finished() {
// Hide loading graphic and show #report_here div here ...
}

JQuery :: Click Function Not Working After Document-load Ajax Call?

Oct 15, 2011

big fan -- first time poster. I've been learning javascript and jquery on the fly so bear with me if I seem to lack understanding of what may be semantic basics.

Anyway, I'm building a mobile app using phonegap. One page grabs data for a table from ajax, and each table element has a delete button in one of the cells. In short: the clicks aren't working. I put the alert in to test, and no dice. I'm not asking for help on the internals, I'm just stumped on why the function isn't being activated,

JQuery :: Calling A Function ... $('submit").click(ClickGeocode) Versus Simply Calling ClickGeocode(credentials)

Jul 17, 2011

I have a form button with id="submit". When pressed, ClickGeocode(credentials) is called. This works fine and dandy with: $('submit").click(ClickGeocode) Despite there being no indication that the function takes an argument 'credentials'. So when I want to call the function at some point in my code, I should be able to do something like ClickGeocode(credentials) ... no? However, my issue is that credentials isn't once defined in my code - it is part of Bing Maps function... like so:

function ClickGeocode(credentials)
{
map.getCredentials(MakeGeocodeRequest);
}

So why does it work using .click(), and how can I call the function without user interaction (simply somewhere in my code) even if 'credentials' is not defined?

Ajax :: First Function Call On Page Load Always Skipped

Oct 9, 2010

Trying to call the same Ajax function twice on initial load of the page, but only the second one executed. I try to load mainpage, and inside mainpage I try to use ajax to load content1.asp to div1 and content2.asp to div2.

Test scenario (based on the Situation below):
- Page loaded, 1st ajax function skipped, 2nd ajax function loaded
- Remarked 1st ajax function, then 2nd ajax function loaded
- Remarked 2nd ajax function, then 1st ajax function loaded
- Moved the 2nd ajax function to above 1st ajax function, the 2nd ajax function is skipped.

Conclusion:
- the 1st ajax function always skipped. But Why? How to ensure both ajax is called upon loading of the page?

Situation:
mainpage.asp
<div id="div1"></div>
<div id="div2"></div>
<script language="JavaScript1.2">
ajax('div1', 'GET', 'page1.asp');
ajax('div2', 'GET', 'page2.asp');
</script>

ajax.js -
function ajax(strDivID, strMethod, strURL){
if (window.XMLHttpRequest)
{// code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari
xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest();
}else
{// code for IE6, IE5
xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
}xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function(){
if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 && xmlhttp.status==200){
document.getElementById(strDivID).innerHTML=xmlhttp.responseText;
}}
xmlhttp.open(strMethod,strURL,true);
if (strMethod="POST"){
xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Content-type","application/x-www-form-urlencoded");
}xmlhttp.send();
