JQuery :: Ajax Email Response Not Going Through - Not Receiving 'data.msg' From My Php File
Jun 29, 2011
I have got my ajax file calling the php file properly and executing some code in it, but nothing will get returned with json_encode().
Right now I am skipping form validation and just trying to get a response back of any sort:
Currently my site just shows the 'processing...' string but will change my css class to indicate a sucess.
Here is my ajax calling the php file:
When I change .html(data.msg) to something like html("<p>hello world</p>") I get the string back. So this line is working, but just not recieving 'data.msg' from my php file.
when I use Firefox to run my application (this involves sending an IFRAME request to the servlet and handling the response), there is no delay in displaying the data after each response. But when I use IE, there seems to be a 1-2 second delay. The script sends a request using IFrame, goes through a loop to return script tags containing data to the browser, and then data is displayed by the browser and a new request is sent. For IE, when a new request is sent, the delay in receiving the response is quite noticeable.
I would like to send my form data to a php file but not to get any response. I want to send an ID so that PHP can do MySQL search and generate a PDF file. Problem seems to be that PHP is responding something back to HTML and that is messing my code. So I just want to send the data and run the scripit in PHP so that nothing is returned back to HTML.
I have a page which loads the HTML for a table using $.post(). Sometimes, the table will be quite large (maybe 2000 rows). Is there a way to display the content as it arrives instead of waiting for the whole thing?It would probably be OK if this requires a synchronous request. The purpose of the page is to display the table, so it doesn't matter if nothing else can happen while it loads.
I have Javascript code that looks like this: var data1; $.post('save_search.php', formData, function(data) { data1 = data; }); jsonData = eval('(' + data1 + ')'); if (jsonData.return_status.search("successful") > -1) $('#msg_div').html("<font color=red>Search was saved</font>"); else $('#msg_div').html("<font color=red>Search was not saved. Try saving again.</font>"); "data1" comes up as undefined in the statement jsonData = eval('(' + data1 + ')');
Even though "data" is a perfectly correct JSON string *inside* the callback function! I can put the eval statement inside the callback function and it will form a good JSON object, like this: jsonData = eval('(' + data + ')'); I'm simply trying to get my Ajax response data to the outside of my callback function so I can use it in other Javascript code. I've never seen an ordinary function behave this way.
I am doing a few tests with javascript and oop. but one failed so i falled back to the way i usually do this but it still isnt working properly. i am using $.post() but instead of returning whatever is echoed in the php file like it does with all my other scripts it returns the content of the file:
Isnt returned in var data but the whole file is returned as a string.
I have a list where each list item has a click event attached to it. Upon clicking a list item, the click calls a PHP script and passes the list's title attribute as a parameter to the script. How can I take the data returned (some HTML) from the AJAX call and append it to the list item which was clicked? I know that the data variable contains the correct HTML coming back from the script and thought that $ (this).append(data) would work but it doesn't. I was thinking of calling another function from within the AJAX return function call, but don't know how to reference the list item which was originally clicked.
I seem to be experiencing a character length cut-off with XMLHTTPRequest. I suspect this because the ActiveX .XMLHTTP works just fine for supporting IE. The data supposed to be recieved is a database outputting in an HTML table format. Any gecko based browser cuts off at about 4200 characters Code:
I have an ajax post which returns a large html response. It is getting truncated at 98784 characters everytime. Is there a limit to a response size or a way around this?
I am trying to replace the names of each link in my html page with $f1 (Page) and replace some content with $f2 (Description).
How would I insert the data from this php file into my html page?
output.php:
mysql_connect(localhost,$username,$password); @mysql_select_db($database) or die( "Unable to select database"); $query="SELECT * FROM Pages"; $result=mysql_query($query);
I've got a page that has a navigation and content div.
The navigation consists of a JS tree menu that has AJAX event handlers associated to all its links so that when the user clicks on any of the links, the content div will update accordingly. The content div is making use of a number of JQueryUI elements such as tabs and accordions among others.
All the JS works fine when I initially open the page; it's only until I click on any navigation link when the problems surface. Once I do none of the JS appears enabled any more in the content div.
I've tried linking to the JS file from the AJAX PHP script called, and that gets the JS to work but only after exhibiting strange behavior - the content div flickers between a JS enabled/disabled state for a few seconds. I figured this may be because the JS file's contents will have been duplicated as it is the same script loaded when initially opening the page.
Last week after much searching, I found the answer to my problem in this newsgroup. I can't find the thread from which I got my solution, but I wanted to report back what worked.
When the site visitor fills out the form and submits it, this calls a rather ordinary asp script like formmail.asp that sends the emails and displays a "thank you" web page. At the very end of my "thank you" web page I placed the following:
This causes the file download to get triggered, and asks the user if they want to save the file. In limited testing this appears to work fine in both Firefox and IE.
I am attempting to do two things and I'm missing a vital element: ajax call to an XML file to be inserted onto a page, FOLLOWED by selecting these newly created elements to apply event handlers on them. I am near certain that the problem is that the selectors are not 'seeing' these elments and it's an issue of running the event handler only AFTER these elements have been loaded.
How do you do this? I already have a $(document).ready(function() { in order which I naively thought would take care of this exact issue...
Is Json considered the better file format for loadind data via Jquery AJAX? I am going to use it either way, but from a cutting edge stand point, is JSON looked at a more cutting edge since it loads faster. 2. And for that matter is anyone using css3 and E4X? All these seem to require the latest versions of all browsers. Since my goal is to be cutting edge I was thinking to do some stuff in the above listed that require only the latest browser if it is detected, if not use what works in most all browsers? What are cutting edge web app developers really doing at this time?
I m getting problem while creating a dynamic website. In Ajax I have good tutorial book. but it missing, "how to create XML file filled with data which comes from SQL server. How to retrieve the data from XML file.
I've been searching for a few hours and haven't been able to find a code snippet to see if this is available. I'm attempting to pass text from my website to another website that has a form setup on it. I'd like to fill in the pertinent data for my users on the page that I load for them. I cannot make any changes to the receiving page as it is run by another company. I've pasted some of the code that is available on the receiving form.
<script type="text/javascript"> //<![CDATA[ var theForm = document.forms['form1']; if (!theForm) {
php page is echoing out:{"species":"Please select a species!"} I double checked the response from the php and firebug shows the same. On success alert is not alerting the JSON data instead, I'm receiving [object Object]. Why is that and how do what should I do to fix this?
In both the cases I am getting an empty response instead of expected html response.If I just copy paste this adnwurl in browser, I do get a proper html response. Its not working with ajax call.
I'm using $.ajax for an ajax request and I've setup a basic html form and if there are errors in the form when the user submits them my server side script is returning them in an array to the client with the errors.
If there are multiple values in the array, how do I display each error on its own line either using <li> tags or even just a <br/>? I'm injecting the ajax response into a div using .html() but how do I iterate the array within that div so I get one error message per line?
Do I need to construct the HTML on the client side after the ajax response has come back or should I do this on the server side before the data is even returned to the client? Right now I'm returning a raw array so that is why I'm asking the question about how to format things up and get the form errors into my div.
What I'm doing is creating a div element dynamically when the user clicks on a point in the page. Once created I create a record in my database table the corresponds to this div element and save information such as the width,height, x coordinate, and y coordinate of the element. This is done via AJAX accessing my web service. The weird thing is, I get really fast responses 80% of the time but 20% of the time, its taking a lot longer. For example, I would get a response after 50-100ms and at times I would get it in 2 seconds What do you think is the source of this problem?
I have ajax request with a success function. The data I'm getting back are an entire <html> ..</html> page. Is there a way to retrieve from those data only a given DOM element by its id ?
