View 1 RepliesI would like to create a html E-test form run on PC and the data will save into a file on disk. I search online for this function code but found that most the script only save the cookie, is it possible for javascript save form data to file? Here is the ideal for my survay form,
1. user click "start" button for the e-test,
2. user need to finish the e-test with in 20 minutes, after 20 minutes the form will auto submit and the data will save into file,
3. me will go to the file folder open it and print out the qestion and anwser.
4. The file will be detele after i print out and the next user can do the e-test again.
I got the time counter and the auto submit script. but i just have no ideal how to save the data into file.
I'm trying to create a 4 x 4 array filled with numbers input by the user. I then need to rotate the grid clockwise like I've shown below.

I made all numbers double digit just for show in the example so the table is easier to read. So far the code I have is just trying to create the array and fill with numbers from the user. This asks for a number once then doesn't display anything at all.

I'll admit to being a newbie with JQuery, XML and Ajax. I'm trying to create a page which pulls dynamic links from an XML file. Here is the page: [URL] Here is the link to the xml file: [URL] I can get the url to pull as text, but I cannot make it into a link, no matter what I seem to try. I'm sure it's a syntax error - but I just don't know enough to know what it is. I'm also going to need to pull a URL for an image, and I am guessing that the process is similar.

I have got my ajax file calling the php file properly and executing some code in it, but nothing will get returned with json_encode().
Right now I am skipping form validation and just trying to get a response back of any sort:
Currently my site just shows the 'processing...' string but will change my css class to indicate a sucess.
Here is my ajax calling the php file:
When I change .html(data.msg) to something like html("<p>hello world</p>") I get the string back. So this line is working, but just not recieving 'data.msg' from my php file.
The script calls the php file without a problem when the submit key is hit. However, it doesnt post the form data with it. The HTML form

I am attempting to do two things and I'm missing a vital element: ajax call to an XML file to be inserted onto a page, FOLLOWED by selecting these newly created elements to apply event handlers on them. I am near certain that the problem is that the selectors are not 'seeing' these elments and it's an issue of running the event handler only AFTER these elements have been loaded.
How do you do this? I already have a $(document).ready(function() { in order which I naively thought would take care of this exact issue...
Is Json considered the better file format for loadind data via Jquery AJAX? I am going to use it either way, but from a cutting edge stand point, is JSON looked at a more cutting edge since it loads faster. 2. And for that matter is anyone using css3 and E4X? All these seem to require the latest versions of all browsers. Since my goal is to be cutting edge I was thinking to do some stuff in the above listed that require only the latest browser if it is detected, if not use what works in most all browsers? What are cutting edge web app developers really doing at this time?

I now need to add a file input to my form and pass the file upload ot the same PHP script.
I have read an article [url] which explains how to do this but this would suggest it is a completely separate function.
My question is, is there anyway I can expand my existing function (below) to inlude the file upload process to save having 2 functions doing the same process?

User will write some input, it will be added to file in specific place.
I need an ability to change element value in file (in one of them - depends what user choose) (or it even can be some trigger word it-self like CHANGE_ME for not to use attributes)

I am using .ajax() to access cross-domain data using JSONP. Because I need to be able to cache the data I want to use a static name for thejsonpCallback function, so I have set the jsonpCallback option in the .ajax() request. However that appears to requires a global function whereas the auto generated function didn't (well maybe it did but that was all hidden from me).
I definitely need to be able to cache the results. Ideally I wouldn't have a global function handling the data. Is there another way to do this? If not what is the best practice way to go about using a global function these days and how do I provide it with the context of the object/module it was called from - which is where the data is needed?

This is working fine on itself. What is does is when I click a link it loads data into the following div. When done loading it slides out. But I want to change the appearance of the slide. I have tried to do that like this: $(this).show("slide", { direction: "down" }, 1000); But this doesn't work. The first one, via ajax(), generates a 2nd one, based on the first ones' data with the .change() method. there is then a 3rd <select> - who's data will depend on choice of the second one although step 1 works, and i can generate the 2nd one, i still can't generate the 3rd one.
when i test the script on its own, both the 2nd and 3rd <select> fields are fine - but not via the ajax, which leads me to believe that the .change() from the 2nd one, isnt triggering the ajax call - its not being picked up (even the 'hello' alert isnt working).

I am doing a few tests with javascript and oop. but one failed so i falled back to the way i usually do this but it still isnt working properly. i am using $.post() but instead of returning whatever is echoed in the php file like it does with all my other scripts it returns the content of the file:
Isnt returned in var data but the whole file is returned as a string.
If the XML contain over hundreds+ nodes and text, is it even remotely possibleable to do the code?
Tried look for it on the internet on all i got is script that manuel write the nodes and text out line by line , that cant be good for the person who need to write over hundred plus data from xml ...

Basically, there is a list box, and when the user selects an option, it calls a service that streams back a base64 encoded image that will be the preview of what they're looking at.in FF you can do this: img.src = "data:image/png;base64," + args ; This doesnt work for IE. from what ive learned, IE doesnt support this type of inline coding.
I was thinking that maybe the next best solution would be to convert the base64 back into binary, and set the new image object to that source. something like this:

now obviously, img.source isnt a real method. but i would like to be ale to set the binary data as the image.
possiblities: Is there anyway to save that binary as a file on the client? and then be able to reference that file as the picture img.src = "images/" + newfilename;
Some other alternatives is to stream back a reference on the server to get the picture, this would require two callbacks, which i dont want.
Also, there is a method of turning the image into a big array of HTMl elements, and each element holds a color, being a pixel. im not doing that, that is the biggest hack job i have ever seen.
