I am workong on a long polling chat for my site by finding examples on the net and i am using this particular one i found, but am slightly confused as to what i need to add to complete the long polling effect. Currently it loops infinetly isntead of waiting for the server to push a message so its obviously not working.
I currently have a method which calls a number of other methods:
sth like:
Code:
function myMainMethod() { smallMethod1();
[Code]....
If I try to Change the color of the text in a button, right before the call to smallMethod1();, changes will not take effect untill the end of smallMEthod4() execution.
Im using IE8 and calls to smallMethod1,2,3,4 are actually calls to methods from an activeX library.
I tried changing the style on the button and then making the call to "myMainMethod()" on a different thread: like
Code: setTimeout("myMainMethod()",1);
I managed to get things working, it did change before running the methods,.. but what happend was that smallMethods()1,2,3,4 started giving me errors,..
Also If I add an alert right after changing the style things seem to work,.. and the button changes styles before calling all the other methods...
Sth like:
Code:
function myMainMethod() { changeButtonColorStyle(); alert('Hi'); smallMethod1();
[Code]....
Also is there a way to create the same effect that the 'alert' does, but without showing an alert window,..? Kind of: "execute everything up to here, and then carry on...."
Is it possible to notice a change of window.location.hash without polling?
I'm working on a Ajax-platform (yes, inventing the wheel again) and have finished almost everything except the support for back/forward-buttons. The track I'm working on is "hidden frames" to keep state in window.location.hash. I've seen some solutions along this way that includes polling window.location for a change... which doesn't comply with my otherwise strict event-driven design...
I am seeking to change the color attribute in my CSS file under the ID's #realmaturesingles and #seniorpeoplemeet upon the hovering of these links. These two ID's are initialized inside an <a> tag (these are links). How can I do this with JavaScript? This is what I tried:
Im having a bit of trouble with the bounce show effect from jquery ui. To see what I mean, check out my development site. Anytime you modify a part in this computer builder, the rigth side gets updated. Right now its removing and adding list items. Problem is when click items too fast, the animation doesnt finish and the next item gets bumped lower and lower.
I've got the following jquery code querying my server, but can't figure out how to Abort the query and reload the page immediately if someone clicks on <a> link. how to abort the current (all) ajax calls if someone clicks on <a> link??
But in IE 8 it takes very long to hide? I don't like to set it in CSS because if javascript is turned off people can still login as it is visible... is there anyway to make it faster ?
Using jQuery Mobile, when I turn my phone (iPhone 3) into landscape, the width adjusts correctly and then extends. It's too long. It does this with paragraphs as well as lists. Even the [URL] site does this :)
How can I override the width? Is there any way to test iPhone 4? Any of you have one to test the [URL] site in landscape view?
I am trying to send with getJSON a very long string as parameter: $.getJSON("/ajax.php",{id:myid, thetext:mytext},myAjaxResult)where "mytext" - is value from my fckeditor.If "mytext" value is not so long, everything is going fine, but if it become a very long, getJSON doesn't work. How can I solve this question?
I've got quite a challenging problem (for me) with jQuery and highlighting a parent <li> from activating checkboxes.I've got a nested unordered list which contains checkboxes... Example HTML:
What is jQuery's long-term strategy for browser support - cut off browsers after a certain number of years or when going below a certain market share? [I'm asking because of the current trend among some webdevs and also library developers advocating to remove IE6 support and force these users to upgrade their browser. I work with several clients that do not want to "lead the way" in this respect, and need to support IE6 as long as it has a fair usage share, which may be for several more
I couldn't find any in Google or in the JQuery plugin library.I am trying to develop a book like app, where the site manage enters a text as long as he like into CKEditor textbox. the editor of course create tags around the text, and also there might be images inside the text.Then when someone chooses the book (bunch of DIV tags), he gets a book like js (this is working) and i need to populate the book with the content from the DB.
The problem is that i just can't figure a way to split the text into small chunks without destroying tags in the process.Is there a split app in jquery that does that?
It's my first post/thread here, I haven't been active in forums for some time cause frankly I didn't need it, but this one just got me. I tried everything in my knowledge -and I mean everything, I'm a fanatic trial-and-error tester. Situation: jQuery, posts some data through Ajax collected primarily from a $('#textarea') to a php file on server. If the data is >X Bytes, I get 404 Not Found and the 404 Html page in Ajax error handler. Otherwise, everything runs smoothly and I get my results. I must specify that I post to a php file that loads Wordpress's wp-blog-header.php before doing calculations, as the code is intended to be part of a WPplugin.
I tried to return header("HTTP/1.1 200 OK") as some suggested, considering WP was altering the header for not finding the file as part of the system, and it solved the issue locally for some cases, but not remotly.
I tried to set the Content-Length in ajax call. I switched between the WP type of handling Ajax calls, and having my own .php file, in the folder of my plugin. Nothing worked, but trimming content. What could this be? post_data_size is 8M on server. Could this be maybe related to SSL as I've seen in some cases?
I'm looking for a solution to take an element value to an autocomplete event: (something like this, but it's not working)[code]the autocomlete works but I can't reach the "pid" element's value by this way in the getList.php
I am new to jQuery.I have a problem where I want to traverse through DOM.For example a complete webpage.Is there any jQuery way to traverse complete DOM of the current page where the jQuery script resides ?
I was wondering if there was an event thrown after the twitter items are generated on the page. There is an example here. I cannot seem to get the li items to change after they are loaded. I have tried using .ajaxComplete, but it doesn't seem to be working. Does anyone know what events are thrown after the above code, and that doesn't need user input? You could you alter the above code and fork your own version. For ideas on examples that could be created; you could change all spaces to periods or periods to exclamation marks.
I want to be able to send my whole form using jQuery ajax.The reason I want to send everything is that I have a lot of dynamic fields generated depending on choices the user does in the form and before the form is generated.
