JQuery :: Hosting 1.4.1 On Google's API Hosting Service?

Jan 27, 2010

Is there any way to get Google to host jQuery 1.4.1? For a while, I have been using their copy of 1.4.0 at[URL]. I tried [URL] and it doesn't work. I get a 404 error. I tried running the command google.load("jquery", "1"); in their API loader to get the latest version, but I am getting 1.4.0. Do I just need to wait for them to get 1.4.1?

Not Working On Hosting Site?

Apr 27, 2011

I got a a JS code sometime ago to create dropdown menus. The instructions said that I should insert into the head section. The script works very well.Off late, I've been reading up on Javascript on w3schools and realised that I could move the script to an outside file and share it gloabally because I have galleries on seven pages that uses the same code. This works perfectly well, locally, on my desktop. But when I uploaded it to my hosting site(go daddy), the javascript doesn't work. This code worked perfectly well earlier when it was inside the HTML.Some of the classes I've used for the dropdowns are defined in a external styling sheet. I know for a fact that this styling sheet is accessible because the gallery styling is applied. It is only the dropdowns that don't work. I've checked on google and other forums and while the problem of JS not working on the hosting exists, it doesn't match the problem I'm facing. I am also able to access the JS file using the navbar and double checked the path.Can someone please help? I'm posting the JS code, the CSS styling and the HTML code below:

Working Locally But Not When Uploaded To Hosting Server?

Oct 23, 2011

I am working on the following page: [URL]

There is a news script on the right-handside which rotates news items (a kind of scroller).

Locally this works without any problems, but once I've uploaded it to the hosting server this doesn't work. There is no javascript error sign.

I have double checked with the hosting and they support javascript by default.

AJAX :: Windows XP - Yahoo Hosting - Site Worked Fine In IE But Not In Firefox

Apr 8, 2010

I ran in to a strange problem with a client who uses Yahoo hosting. The web site uses AJAX (jquery, php, javascript). There is no problem viewing the site using IE8, Firefox on a Windows 7 computer. On an XP computer the site worked fine in IE, but not in Firefox. The site never worked properly using Chrome or Safari.

I tried jquery 1.3.2 and 1.4.2 but got the same results.

I use this same combination (jquery, php, javascript) on other web hosts and don't have these problems.

I know that Yahoo hosting injects tracking code in the web pages it serves for the sites it hosts (at least for my client). I think this could be the source of the problem.

When I removed jquery (I was only using the load function anyway) and used my own code- the problem disappeared. The site now works in all browsers.

Notice Change Of Window.location.hash Without Polling

Nov 29, 2005

Is it possible to notice a change of window.location.hash without
polling?

I'm working on a Ajax-platform (yes, inventing the wheel again) and
have finished almost everything except the support for
back/forward-buttons. The track I'm working on is "hidden frames" to
keep state in window.location.hash. I've seen some solutions along this
way that includes polling window.location for a change... which doesn't
comply with my otherwise strict event-driven design...

Alternatives To OverLib

Oct 19, 2006

I'm currently using overLib 4.21 which works well for the most part, but it
doesn't fully support CSS and doesn't always behave properly with Safari
(for the Mac.) It's also overly bloated for my needs.

I simply want a popup div to display a form. The user either inputs some
data and submit or ckicks cancel to close. Code:

Alternatives To GetElementsByTagName

Are there any ways to edit the html within an element without knowing the TagName?

I'm trying to add html code within a <td> element that has no name or ID. What I do know is that it's the third <td> element within the only <tr> in the table. Assume that none of the elements in the file have IDs or names. The html is produced by a compiled program, so I have no way of editing the HTML in order to add names or IDs. Code:

Alternatives To Built-in Objects As Prototypes

Jul 21, 2006

I have been looking at Prototype.js quite a bit lately as I need to
create a very small library of similar functionality to a subset of
Prototype.js. This is for use with Ruby on Rails.

About Prototype.js Rob G wrote:

1. It modifies the protoype of some built-in objects so that
using say, for..in with an array object produces unexpected
results.

I can see that modifying the prototypes of Object or Array could break
other JavaScript libraries that depend on for..in. Prototype.js also
adds functions to the prototype of Element. How bad is that? (I notice
that in Flanagan's JavaScript 4th edition he mentions that you can
modify the prototypes of built in objects however there is no mention
of the dangers involved.)

I then thought I could use an instance of Element as the prototype of a
MyElement constructor but that option has been squashed in the past as
being not cross browser.

Assuming I shouldn't be playing with the prototypes of built-in
JavaScript objects I can see a couple options that might still be
available. Code:

Alternatives To Body Onload Not Working

Jul 26, 2006

I have dynamically named form elements set in divs based on a
server-side language. I am displaying these using DHTML in a
display:none, display:block format.

Due to some code (and deadline) issues I do not have the total number
of form elements set by the time the body tag is run. I wanted to have
a script tag later on in the document which reads something like:

<query>
<builds div element1i1, element1i2, etc>

<script language="javascript">
document.getElementById(' query variable '+1).style.display = 'block'
</script>

</query>

However the JavaScript code does not run. Alerts run inside the code
consistently, but the other code does change the display to block.
also tried running this same code as on OnFocus...

Search Through Siblings For Shared XML Attributes

Jun 29, 2010

how to search through siblings for shared attributes I have a a long list of links and I suppose Im going to apply a number of classes to each one [describing a number of attributes for each] and I want to do a conditional search probably in javascript/jquery so that when i hover over one of the links I highlight its relatives - those that have the same attributes.

What Im having trouble wrapping my head around is the idea of classes to ID these custom attributes. The attributes are coming from a database converted to XML. In my Javascript I essentially want to say that

for each link should the user mouseover or mouseclick for each of its sibling links if its sibling link share its attributes style or highlight these compliant siblings a certain way

how do I do the 'if statement' without spelling out every possible attribute entry? I know in plain OOP Java how I could test for this but in that scenario I have access to these entries as fields in an object's instantiation.

Alternatives To Sending The Amount To Paypal?

Mar 29, 2011

I wrote a website in html, which has an ecommerce that sends the purchase to paypal. My client wants to offer a coupon. I found code in javascript that validates the coupon, but I want to be able to tell PayPal the discounted amount as this discount will not apply to all customers. PayPal Merchant Services told me that I can not use a variable in the following line:

<input name="amount" type="hidden" value="132" />

Is there a way I can use Javascript to do the following? At this time, this code doesn't give me an error, but it doesn't send the amount to PayPal either.

<script language="javascript">function validate(text1,text2) {
if (text1 == text2)
{ document.write('<input name="amount" type="hidden" value="0" />')

Creating A Game - Object Changes By Itself - Shared Memory ?

Nov 6, 2011

I am creating a game in JavaScript!

It is going to be a clone of the game ChuChu Rocket! that I used to play on the Dreamcast.

The game is set up so that the levels sit inside a nested array of objects, like your typical JSON string. So that within levels[] there are objects with level names, an array of moveable items, an array of arrows you can place, etc.

I have set it up so that when the level is loaded in to the DOM, it also duplicates a part of the object, the part responsible for the positioning of the moveable items on screen so that when they are animated, and if there is a fail scenario (cat eats mouse, cat gets to rocket before mouse) you should be able to reset and it remembers your coordinates.

From what I have learned in my years of studying and using JavaScript, the following should always hold true: a=1; b=a; b++; // b would become 2, a would stay as 1 (they are separate variables)

I seem to have found an exception to this rule.

When creating a level, I duplicate the part of my object called o.chuchu and I call it o.chuchuMoving

If I make a change to anything in o.chuchuMoving, it also changes o.chuchu.

o.chuchu and o.chuchuMoving are arrays within the object. Formatted like this: [0,0,1],[1,0,1],[2,0,1],[3,0,1] ... etc

If I tell my object the following: o.chuchuMoving[0][0]=1... then o.chuchu[0][0] also becomes 1.

Please check the code at [url] when you get a moment

How Do You Develop Long Bookmarklets?

Jan 16, 2007

To edit or modify a bookmarklet code, it must be in the form of a multi
line code in a html file or a js file.

But to test or run the bookmarklet, I need to do three things:

1. go to online bookmarklet builder site
2. paste my (multi-line) code there and generate bookmarklet link
3. drag it to toolbar

And I need to go thru these tedious three steps several times because
developing a long bookmarklet (like MyPage) is not like:
write code -test it -done.
but it's like:

write code -test it -it doesn't work. -modify code(put debugging
code) -test it -it still not work -modify code -...
How do you get around with this tediousness? Is there a way to skip the
three steps?

Long Number To Array?

Feb 7, 2011

How do you take a long number such as Math.PI and break it out into an array? code...

I suppose that because of the decimal you would have to convert it into a string first? It would be ideal if I could keep the number as a number without converting it to a string, but I'm not sure if that's possible.

Every thread I've found online so far seems to indicate that you need a delimiter between the string you want to split up - that you can't just put every character of a string into an array... but there must be a way.
