JQuery :: Split A Long HTML Content Into Small Divs?

Jun 4, 2011

I couldn't find any in Google or in the JQuery plugin library.I am trying to develop a book like app, where the site manage enters a text as long as he like into CKEditor textbox. the editor of course create tags around the text, and also there might be images inside the text.Then when someone chooses the book (bunch of DIV tags), he gets a book like js (this is working) and i need to populate the book with the content from the DB.

The problem is that i just can't figure a way to split the text into small chunks without destroying tags in the process.Is there a split app in jquery that does that?

Content Positioning W/ Small Javascript

Mar 25, 2007

i made this javascript using the new "screen.width" property, which would make it easy to center content in a webpage no matter what the screen resolution is. Here it goes:

<html>
<head>
<script type="text/javascript">
function pos_center() {
var content = document.getElementById("carrier")
var width = screen.width
var contentwidth = content.offsetWidth
value = parseFloat((width - contentwidth)/2)
content.style.marginLeft = value }
</script>
</head>
<body
<div class="body" id="carrier">
</div>
</body>
</html>

The "body onload" makes the page first load all the way to the left, and then after completely loading switches the content to the center, that is dynamically gross.
Now, instead of using the "body onload", is there any other way that i can make the content appear. Seeing that there is no "onbeforeload", there must be another way to solve this.

JQuery :: Tabs - Long Content In Hidden Tabs

Nov 9, 2009

I am using jQuery tabs and when I have very long content within the tabs, my browsers scroll bar reflects the content in the tab with the most content.

Example, "Tab 1" & "Tab 3" has a very long scroll bar, even though it has no content (because of Tab 2) and you can scroll down through the empty space

Is there a way I can hide the content in Tab 2 so that my browsers scroll bar displays correctly in relation to the content in the active tab?

Switching Banner With Image Click - Page Itself Is Long And Must Be Vertically-scrolled To See Entire Content

Jun 11, 2009

I have a banner that has image navigation on the lower right. The navigation links are images which, when clicked, change the banner without reloading the page. The actual switching of the banner is working when each image is clicked.

However, my problem is this:

The page itself is long and must be vertically-scrolled to see the entire content. Because of the scrolling, the banner could appear anywhere vertically on the page. And whenever I click the banner navigation hrefs, the page "jumps" so that the banner is at the top. The page should really stay in the fixed position.

I'm not sure how to set it up so that no matter where the banner section is on the scrolled page, that the page stays in the same position when the navigation is clicked.

My href's in that navigation are set up as :

Do I need something in my script so that the page won't jump? Or am I missing something in the HTML?

JQuery :: Swap The Content Within A Div Without Affecting The Other Divs With The Same Class?

May 28, 2010

I have a listing of items on the page and each one has a <div> with a description in it. There are two versions of each description, one short and one full length. I like the user to be able to swap between them by clicking the 'more' and 'close' links. The problem with what I wrote is that it applies to all the divs on the page instead of the specific one that was clicked. What can I change to correct it?

The jQuery:

$(document).ready(function() {
$('div.desc > p.desc-full').hide();
$('a.more').click(function() {
$('div.desc > p.desc-trunc').slideUp('fast');

JQuery :: Tabs : All Content Divs Showing At Same Time

Apr 2, 2009

For some reason, when my first div loads, I'm seeing all 3 text show up even though they're in different <div> containers:

<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
$('#Tabs').tabs({ fx: { opacity: 'toggle'} });
});

[Code].....

Here's a print screen: [URL] so you can see that for some reason all of that text is showing up at the same time. Do I need to hide the other divs first? I even tried that with adding $('#Tabs div0').hide(); // Hide all divs but it did not help. I would assume out of the box, it would hide the rest of the divs for me and only show the default first.

JQuery :: Nested Divs: Making Content Visible?

Feb 25, 2011

I'm trying to debug a tabbed menu implementation, where I have a variety of pages that are made visible based on tab clicks. This works well, until I have a page that is laid out with nested divs. Any content beyond the child of the selected page (page_about shows 'Put an image here' but not 'This is where...') remains invisible. I've tried a number of options in the slideDown statement, but failed thus far.

JQuery :: Synchronizing Vertical Scroll Of 2 Divs Based On When Waypoints Inside The Content Are Reached?

Nov 1, 2011

To synchronize the vertical scroll of the following "left" and "right" divs only when the beginning and end of each "blahN " div is reached inside the left div. Both divs have a finite height, which basically insures that the scroll bar will be present. The left div outputs text-based content from various database procedures while the right div outputs images corresponding to the text. The text is nothing more than pages from the website and as you can see inside the left div, each is encapsulated within a subsequent div with an incremental class (i.e.- "blah1", "blah2", and so forth.) When one scrolls through each "blah" content inside of the left div, I would like the right div to output the image that corresponds to the text (again, this data comes from the website through previous transactions.) Here's an example: John Doe comes to the website and starts reading the various pages listed inside the left div.

There might be 2 pages loaded inside the left div, or, there might be 20, but in any event, when he loads the entire page containing all this, the first page will be displayed along with the first pages' image. When he scrolls past this first entry (page) inside the left div, the corresponding image related to it inside the MySQL database is then output as well over in the right div and so on with every other "blahN " piece of content. Right now, the jQuery I'm using has synchronized both divs to scroll at the same time, regardless of specific waypoints that might be reached per-scrolling.

Here's the basic markup I'm using right now:

<div class="left">
<?php
foreach($obj->field_page_objs as $k1=>$v1){

[code]....

few other websites and the responsiveness has been minimal-to-nonexistent. I'm sure this is because of both how I've explained the problem combined with the overall difficulty (or niche-ness) it introduces. In any event, I apologize beforehand if this carries over into this website.

JQuery :: Dynamically Add Divs To HTML Page And Get Its Contents?

May 12, 2010

There is a project called Seed which allows JavaScript programs to run on the Linux desktop. There is connected project called SeedKit which runs HTML files as a Graphical User Interface front end for JavaScript files run by Seed. It acts like a webpage which rather than linked to a web-server is linked to a JavaScript program with HTML events like buton clicks etc that drives JavaScript much in the same way as normal desktop Graphical toolkits do. I hope this page from my blog starts a bit.

http:[url]....

Both projects are quite new so is very experimental. I am not involved in the development of any of the projects but I am trying to create a few examples to show how it works. My first example is to take the contents of the log folder /var/log, display it in the SeedKit HTML file and when a user clicks on it, it displays the contents of the log file.The way I am going about this is firstly to create a two column table in the HTML thus:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
<head>[code]....

The table on the HTML file is populated with the file names but I can't get the contents of the specific div I have clicked on. I tried $(this).text() but it displays all the text in the table.

Swapping Divs With Content?

Dec 29, 2010

i have looked around all over the place for some code that will do this, but everything seems to fall short. i'm relatively new to js, but this seems like it would be one of the more simple things to do.

basically, i'm after an effect similiar to the "sign in" box at the top of twitter's pages - not the pop-up form, just the swapping images and background colors, etc. i have a couple of simple scripts that work, but only with simple text and not blocks of code - i.e. a div with a class containing some text and a small image.

all of the examples i have found involve swapping the div from a source somewhere else on the page, such as a menu or something similar, which is obviously not the same thing.
