Problems Loading Dynamic Content Into FireFox Divs (XMLHTTP)
May 6, 2007
I wrote an "ajax" script that pulls dynamic content into a div container via xmlhttp. There is a variety of lists on this page that are all ajax. Basically the up/down arrows in the Music, Photos, Users, Community etc boxes have this javascript funtion that replaces the innerHtml properties of a div to some response data from an asp.net object.
In IE these up/down arrows works fine and pull in data, but in FireFox the divs come up with "Undefined" in the div instead of the data.. Code:
I've been trying to get this to work, but it will not load my test.html website into my div named Content, I also downloaded the demo found here :[URL]But I cant get that to work either, what am I doing wrong?
Here is my code. :
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head>
I am encountering this problem with Firefox, but no problem in IE. I have in a hidden <div> dynamically generated select options intended for re-use by dynamically created forms on page.
For Example: <div> <option value="1">xxx</option> </div>
With javascript, when I use getElementById() to get the <div>, and then get the innerHTML, on IE I get the content just as they were generated out, and I was able to put this into an empty <select> and everything works. But when I try the same in Firefox, the innerHTML returns only the text part of the content. The "<option value="1">" part has been stripped off. Wondering if there's a solution to get around this?
I am trying to create portlets that dynamically load their content (usinq jQuery). My first approach was to leave the header + footer + decorations of the portlet OUTSIDE of the dynamically loadable content. It worked just fine but I had to abandon that approach so that I could use the same code both for statically- and dynamically-loaded content (e.g. when no AJAX support was available). So far so good.
Now to my problem: I use the following code for loading my dynamic content
The loading works fine, but after the dynamic content has been loaded I can not seem to get access to it using jQuery!
Short description: Line 3 clears the content (I know! There are better solutions!) Line 4 loads the content Line 6 dumps the data on the console; this is for debuging only, so that I can establish that the correct content is loaded
After the data is properly loaded I did expect to be able to find it by traversing the DOM tree in traditional jQuery fashion (like in Line 10). However, dumping the contents of the 'tag' shows it containing no content at all; it is empty even though the browser renders the expected new result. I thought: Well! The browser holds two copies of the DOM tree; one that is the original page and one that is the modified content used for rendering". Therefore I attempted to manipulate the loaded content within the function (Line 8). The content is visible there, that I have established in Line 6. But I do not know how to access it jQuery-style.
(Why am I trying to modify the loaded content? I want to inject a title row with various decorations and clickable content.)
I'm developing a website right now for a clientIssue:On the homepage, the dropdown menu for "cities" (hover over "cities") gets overlapped by the Dynamic Content Gallery (DCG), which as a result cuts off bottom portion of the dropdown. Dropdown Menus are using Superfish. The issue only occurs in Firefox. It works fine in IE, hovering over the top of the DCG slide (weird, right?).Screenshot in FirefoxScreenshot in IEI was thinking it could be corrected by adjusting the z-index of the dropdown menu, but decided I would ask here first before I get in over my head.Attachments IE-Screenshot.jpgSize : 120.0 KB Download : 358Firefox-Screenshot.jpgSize : 119.87 KB Download : 353
Using XMLHTTP and DOM I'm able to load new HTML page content.
I'd now like to load small snippets of javascript with the HTML markup and have that <script> incorporated into the page. If any of the loaded script exists outside a function definition (eg: a call to a function), I'd like that code to be executed as soon as its added to the DOM.
Can anyone suggest the best way to do this? I've Googled but not found anything comprehensive. Do I need to use the eval() method or is there a better way?
i want to postload javscript from another javascript. This works fine in firefox and IE6 for macIE i can use an Iframe to load the code and inject it with insertAdjacentHTML The problems arise with safari and opera. Both load the new code with XMLHttpRequest, but the code is no 'executable'
To make this possible on IE i had to use the magic 'DEFER' attribute. (Sync or Async ist not the issue)
There is a problem with XMLHttpRequest and Firefox when the function that makes the asynchrounous request is called from another window. The URL of the window does not change to the next page in which i am displaying the response.
i like to access a PHP file do some work and then if all is successful return the response text update the div innerhtml compare div content with xmlhttp.responseText
Currently transitioning from a shared host to a dedicated server. The same code that works on the old server is not working on the dedicated server. It is a simple AJAX request like:
<code> function createXMLHttpRequest() { if (window.ActiveXObject) { xmlHttp = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } else if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { xmlHttp = new XMLHttpRequest(); } }
With the code as is above, the requests works fine in IE. With Firefox it throws a 403 on the page. A call to the response.php page with parameters runs correctly outside of AJAX. Changing all POST requests to GET resolves the issue, but I would prefer not to have to change ALL POST requests to GET requests.
Does anyone know of a setting on the new server that can cause FireFox (1.5.x and 2.0.x) to return a 403 with an AJAX post call?
I have a site that is very jQuery and image heavy. The main sections of the site link to sections that are built with several Tabs, and as it loads, you briefly see all the content load and then it is hidden by the Tabs code.
The plan is to have a full window DIV that sits above all the content with a loading icon that plays until the entire page loads, and then it fades down.
After some hair pulling and research I have code in place that does exactly as I ask, however it does not seem to work in IE6+7. It works in all other browsers.
The pages which are loaded look similar to the main page shown above. It works fine, except the fact that the whole page is loaded into the "gallery_content_right" DIV (including header, navigation and so on). Is it possible to just load the DIV "gallery_content_right" from the other pages, so that just the content from "gallery_content_right" is replaced onClick()?
I am trying to reload the contents of a div asynchronously using jquery. It works fine if the link/button to do so is outside of the div I am reloading, but I need the button to be inside the div I am reloading and it does not work if I do it from there. I have thought about overlaying divs but I need the buttons to be very exactly positioned as its a graphical representation of a map and recoding the way the buttons are placed would not only annoy me but be very difficult.
You see its an isometric view of a square, and the buttons need to be placed right along the edges of the 'diamond' therefore always coming inside or on top of the div that contains the map view. So, is what I am trying to do impossible or might I just be going about it the wrong way ? If it is the latter then I will post some code.
I started developing a website that for many aspects should be similar to a Flash website but of course only in JS. What a challenge! An important part, of course, should be the managing of the position of the objects and to do so I need at least to be able to get all the properties from them, also if they have dynamic content. The very simple issue I'm stuck at the moment is to get the width of a div that contain a text, to place at its right the next div. I have very different behaviors in IE and Mozilla when I move a DIV. In fact given this structure:
I have, essentially, anunlimited number of containers with dynamic ids and a dynamic menu to load each containers content. I have done this fine with static id's but do not know where to go to use dynamic.
<div class="wrapper"> <div id="pf1_1"> My content for pf1_1 container goes here </div> <div id="pf1_2">
i want to implement something very similar to this (youtube).[URL]My javascript knowledges are low. I think it has something to be with onload and onclick events with links.Do i have to write a function and include it on the html page?Where do i have to put the diferent contents?I would prefer to separate html content and javascript since i have some variable to display from my template engine like {$name}, {$uploaded_date}, etc.
So when I load a page php grabs some results and formats them for the user. This shows properly in all browsers. However, when I try to use an ajax request to get more data and then format it, the same styling doesnt work. It is causing the text to appear below the image, not floated next to it. Also the dynamic styling works fine on Safari and Chrome, but not in Firefox (only mac tested) and IE. Here's my code code...
I am using xmlhttp.open();xmlhttp.send(); to send a php content to a div. This php content is again using the same method to get php content from a further page. The content of the div, does not seem to be using the css and javascript files defined in the calling pages <head> section.
Javascript file: scripts.js client.php ----> loads data from: display_client.php display_client.php ----> loads data from: display_brand.php
I'm loading a list of elements into mydiv with ajax, I want them to be selectable so I call the UI plugin selectable after the list has loaded.
The list building function produces this:
<div id='mydiv'> <ul id='mylist'> .... </ul>
[Code].....
The problem is, every time I click the link to reload the list via ajax, I get a duplicate selectable event handler created. Should I be removing the old event handlers before reloading the div ? if so, how?
Everything works, as in selectable still works, and only seems to fire once but I get ever growing memory usage in firefox and an ever growing list of event handlers in the firebug script tab. Eventually firefox starts to crawl and I have to restart the browser.
i have looked around all over the place for some code that will do this, but everything seems to fall short. i'm relatively new to js, but this seems like it would be one of the more simple things to do.
basically, i'm after an effect similiar to the "sign in" box at the top of twitter's pages - not the pop-up form, just the swapping images and background colors, etc. i have a couple of simple scripts that work, but only with simple text and not blocks of code - i.e. a div with a class containing some text and a small image.
all of the examples i have found involve swapping the div from a source somewhere else on the page, such as a menu or something similar, which is obviously not the same thing.
