JQuery :: Add Slide Effect When Switching Images With External Trigger?
Apr 11, 2011
I am trying to achieve a relatively simple effect but having a hard time. I have the code to swap the images displayed in a particular div with an external trigger but want to add a slide effect to the new images that loads upon activating the trigger. The code I have so far is:
<script type="text/javascript">
function changeBelt(beltName,BeltHolder)
{
var obj = document.getElementById(BeltHolder);
I'm making a form with some fields. Once the form is submitted it updates the page with a new div containing the data entered without refreshing. Im using jquery form plugin. What I'd like to achieve is the new div(.record) to .slideDown. I guess I need to somehow specify the exact div by giving it an id or number. I'm not sure and why im here.
At the moment when i submit all of the divs(.record) are hidden with .hide, then they all slide down with .slide. Best i can understand is to hide the last div then slide down. But again.. I don't know how to specify to only slide down the last div added and not the current .record divs on the page.
I am creating a slide show in Javascript. So far it is running smoothly, however instead of the slides just switching to the next slide I want them to fade into the next slide. Is this possible in Javascript?
I prefer jQuery over flash and not sure how to tackle this, so please advise as best you can. Trying to create a site that allows for images to go full browser and then have the ability to have the other images slide in based on a click.
I also want to float a menu that will allow it to pull in other media (video, that would slide in the same way). The best example I can share is this: http://j.mp/5U79i1 What he is using is flash based (slideshowpro director and slideshow pro for flash). Not interested in flash for this personal project.
I am using these sites for the toggle effect: [url] [url]
My javascript looks like this :
My css looks like this:
This is what the html looks like:
I'm trying to get the captions to slide but the <p id="caption"> does not want to slide..when I added in the "ddsfdsfdfg" that slides but not the "p id"..how to get this working.
I got the "loading external pages" overlay working just fine from the examples. My project calls for me to open an external overlay but we don't have control over the trigger point. The content is being injected into our pages via an external scripts. So I created an event listener with JQuery to listen for any clicks that occur to a specific link, this works just fine. What I've been struggling to do is open up an external overlay via my listener. I've tried creating a custom function called showOverlay that will do the real work but no luck. Is it possible to trigger an external Overlay via eventListener or do I have to take a different approach?
This is my eventListener. $('#ExternalLinkReadID a').click(function() { var id = $(this).attr('href'); alert("before: " + id); $(this).showOverlay(); alert("after"); });
<a href="readreviews.jsp" rel="#overlay" style="text-decoration:none"> <button type="button">Reviews</button> </a><!-- overlayed element --> <div class="apple_overlay" id="overlay"><a class="close"></a> <!-- the external content is loaded inside this tag --> <div class="contentWrap"></div> </div><!-- make all links with the 'rel' attribute open overlays --> <script> $.fn.showOverlay = function() { // if the function argument is given to overlay, // it is assumed to be the onBeforeLoad event listener $("a[href]").overlay({ mask: 'lightgrey', effect: 'apple', onBeforeLoad: function() { // grab wrapper element inside content var wrap = this.getOverlay().find(".contentWrap"); // load the page specified in the trigger wrap.load(this.getTrigger().attr("href")); }});}; </script>
I want a menu at the top of the page. When I press a button in the menu the content of the page slides up, the content changes and it slides down. I've done this so far, but how can I do a more dynamic solution without having different divs for each menu item?
How can I get rid of the slide effect on a basic horizontal menu? I love the way the "basic" example works but I can't mimic it without having the text all slide to right and re-sizing the box.
I have created a long list of items. For each item, there is 1 image. In my case, I use the same image each time.
I would like to use JS to allow users to check an item by clicking on it. Please note, I am not using radio buttons or any other forms.
This is my JS function:
It is triggered using this:
It works for each image. It switches to 2.png when a user clicks on each instance of that image. But how do you make sure it switches back to 1.png on the next click, and so on, effectively creating a switch for multiple instances of the same image?
I have a site where i switch between two images using some JavaScript. What I need is to be able to set a session variable or something so that if someone selects shading on or off it sticks to that for the rest of the session.
Any idea or even a point in the right direction. Do i need cookies or is there a simple way to do this
I am working on a slider for a client site and all works fine when I place the css directly in the page - but when I move it to external file it does not pick up any of the styles that are required to make the slider work.
i'm New to JQuery and I recently had a problem with encorporating a transition at the beginning and end of my carousel. I found that by default it would Fast Forward/Fast Rewind through all the images at the ends, rather than just jump to the slide and wrap.
I've managed to solve the issue (bar a transition effect from the last slide back to the first) it now jumps to slide one, rather than rewinding through all the images. However (and i know this sounds silly) but i'm having trouble doing the reverse. I'll add both the zip file to show a working model if interested and also post the 2 relevant functions :)
in a non-Flash enviroment; while waiting for images and style information, I've been working on a prototype to get the behavior down. So far this is what I've come up with.

I'm using the JQuery UI "Slide" plugin to try to get the image of a particular div to slide in from the left and the content to slide in from the right. However, at the moment I'm getting a weird jump effect (at least in Firefox and Chrome; I have not yet tested in IE) that I *think* has to do with the float on the left-hand image but I'm not sure. Does anyone know how I might get rid of this, or if there's a better/more efficient way to achieve this effect?(For the record, it *is* the same image for all four divs at the moment; I was just working on the behavior so I didn't spend a lot of time on it; it's a placeholder.)
I recently implemented the Image Cross Fade Transition [url] It works great, and I'm hoping to add to the code to enhance the functionality. Currently, if I hover over the image, it runs the cross fade transition, which I would like to keep. I have another div on the page that I would like to trigger the first instance when hovered over as well. Is there a good way to add this?
I've set up a portfolio using the Cycle Plugin. It works great, but now I want to link directly to one of the slides from the home page, and I'm not sure how to make this work or where to even begin. Here is a page on my site with a slideshow using Cycle. (I'm actually transitioning divs, not just images) [URL].
I was wondering if jQuery or mootools has a set of scripts that creates a page slide effect with a stationary menu? What I mean is instead of loading a page when you click a link, all pages of the website are loaded at first, and then when a link is clicked, the corresponding page slides onto the screen. The navigation menu remains unchanged (except for dropdown menus) throughout everything. This is a perfect example of what I'm looking for: [URL] I tried to search for this but didn't come up with too many great results, and I searched the jQuery documentation and wasn't able to find a slider feature.
I have 4 images and these images are changing automatically with duration of 2 seconds with show hide animation.and there are 4 bullets with mentioned above 4 images. these bullets are highlighting for example if image number 1 is showing than bullet number 1 is highlighting. same thing for other 3 bullets and images.
I am trying to create a menu that would look and act like this image illustrates: [URL] Essentially the three boxes slide down when rolled over and menu items appear in the portion that has slid down.So far, I have figured out how to make an image slide using jQuery: [URL]
I know nothing about javascript, but have found a useful code for enlarging images, and it would be great if I could just insert a line or two to get the overlay effect - so, what I want to add is a background when an image is open: for example - [url].
I'm using Jquery to create a rollover effect on 2 images (placed on top of each other) to fade the bottom image in on a mouseover and out on a mouse out. Clicking the faded in image also opens a fancybox gallery. The problem is that sometimes the animation (the fade in and out) gets stuck after closing the fancybox window and the mouseover doesn't work anymore.
i am trying to do a mouseover effect with some images inside an unordered list. i have a lot of divs in my html (some are generated) but its fairly straight forward. i have tried all sorts of variations on my jquery code below but cannot get it to alert me. i am not sure if the other div containers matter at all or not.
I'm having a little trouble with 2 differentJS scripts. I have a drop down slide menu and a parralex slide gallery. Both work on separate pages and puton the same page they still work however the submenu of the slide down menu does not. if I remove the style sheet that belongs to the gallery
Then the munu works, however (obviously) the page layout goes wrong. if i remove<h1 class="title">Alex Holland Perspective</h1> the menu works however page layout goes wrong andI loose my header
