JQuery :: Sliding A DIV And Swapping Images/text At The End Of Slide?

My client wants a series of 4 background images that cycle (probably fade), and each time a new image appears, they need text to slide in from either the right or left, depending on the image.I've done the fading background image part quite often, but have never tied another action to the new image loading.
<picture 1, fades in><text for picture 1, slides in from right>
<picture 2, fades in><text for picture 2, slides in from left>
<picture 3, fades in><text for picture 3, slides in from right>
<picture 4, fades in><text for picture 4, slides in from left>
I've seen a lot of tutorials for the two things separately, but not for the two combined. And I'm the first to say I'm a newbie to jQuery and relative newbie to Javascript. So I'm not sure how to go about even knowing if this is do-able.

I'll slideUp a div, load some ajax, then slideDown the result.In the result, there are two more divs (navigation and 'subcontent' containers)I have links in the navigation div that should fadeIn new content (via ajax) into the subcontent container.Now, the fadeIn fadeOut functions operate correctly _until_ I use a slide on the larger div. If I slide at all, everything turns into a slide, even within the subcontainers. I'm not sure what's going on.ere's an example structure for the divs:
<div id="globalnav">Anchors/Links for the maincontent div</div>
<div id="maincontent">"maincontent" should slide open and closed.
<div id="nav">Anchors/Links in here</div>
[code]....

I have a container div with two inner divs. I have one inner div visible taking up 100% of the visible area and another hidden div. I
want the visible div to slide to the left while simultaneously sliding the other div in from the right. This works fine except that while the right div is sliding in, it appears below the left div. How can this be done?
Here is the code:
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/jQuery/jquery.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/jQuery/effects.core.js"></
script>
[code]....

I'm working on a page, where I want to use jQuery to build a "Portfolio" div that contains pics and info about some of my work. I found a bunch of cool tutorials about making a slide show, but they all have a sliding animation. With my page, the sliding animation would look awkward. I'm fine if it just replaces the current div with the next one. I'm just planning on using a previous and next button (Within the same div) to cycle through these.

What I would like to do is enable swapping between the black images? I would like to drag and drop to another image and that image will fill up the dragged earlier image position?

I've run into a problem with swapping images for site navigation.The "hover" part works just fine, but the problem lies within the click part. When the user clicks the first thing that happens is to reset all of the images for all of the links, and then set the hover image for the link that was clicked. However it seems that after resetting all of the images 'src' attributes, the code for setting the link that was clicked either doesn't execute, or executes before the reset.

I prefer jQuery over flash and not sure how to tackle this, so please advise as best you can. Trying to create a site that allows for images to go full browser and then have the ability to have the other images slide in based on a click.
I also want to float a menu that will allow it to pull in other media (video, that would slide in the same way). The best example I can share is this: http://j.mp/5U79i1 What he is using is flash based (slideshowpro director and slideshow pro for flash). Not interested in flash for this personal project.

I'm looking for a good super-fast sliding plugin for an entire row of images.
Basically I want to replicate what I have here:
[URL]
Using prototype (and a painfully slow load) in jquery.
But I also want to add the ability to click on the images to move back and forth and I want to get rid of the load delay.

I have a script that will slide a div up from the bottom of the page. The toggle button for this div however is going to be right on top of the sliding div. But, when the button is pressed and the div starts to slide down, the script hides the button. Here's an example... [URL] How can I get the toggle button to slide with it, but not disappear?

I know this is sorta reposting but I want to simplify the issue a bit. Take the following script:
function replacemain(s){
var x = document.images['MainImage'];
var y = document.images[s];
var pictemp = x.src;
x.src = y.src;
y.src = pictemp;
}
All I want to do is replace the image specified as "s" with the MainImage. Actually swap them so that each execution of the function will swapp and reswap the images without loosing anything. This generally works, however, on a couple IE6 browsers it causes blank images to swap in....

I've got a JavaScript / CSS question if anyone has a spare minute and the interest? I've got a page with a background image set by CSS. I want to use a Javascript function to change that image with a link click. Here's a snippet from my HTML:
HTML Code:
<body>
<script type="text/javascript" src="changeBGimage.js"></script>
<style type="text/css">
body {background: url('red.jpg') no-repeat}
</style>
[Code]...
Would you be able to tell me how I would structure that function?

i am using a sliding image gallery and want to indicate the selected thumbnail by showing a dot below the thumbnail. i am new to scripting and have been trying tweak the code i found (which had the thumbnails at 50% opacity when unselected and 100% opacity when selected), using that code, i'm hoping i can instead make an image of a dot show at 100% opacity when the thumbnail above is selected and 0% opacity when the thumbnail is not selected. here is the script where i think i can achieve this:

I need to create a page containing five image tags, two buttons, a <select> and a <textarea>. The images tags will each contain a picture of one of six possible outcomes for the dice portraying the numbers one through six..
The first button: When the user clicks on the button, all dice are rolled once. For each die when rolled, the src of its image tag is replaced with a random one of six possible pictures -- each picture being chosen with equal probability (1/6).... I HAVE THIS DONE
The select: The user may select any of the numbers one through six. Whenever a picture is clicked upon, then that die takes on the value shown inside the <select> THIS IS WHAT I NEED HELP WITH
The textarea: Results of the dice rolls should be kept as a running log (a cumulative history) in a textarea at the bottom of the page. With each roll (initiated by the click of the button), we should be able to see the complete history of all current and previous dice rolls. You need not consider changes brought about clicks on individual dice in conjunction with the <select>....I HAVE THIS DONE
The second button: A button below the textarea, should allow the user to obtain a report (overwriting the current contents of the log in the textarea) which tabulates the frequency of each of the six outcomes plotted separately for each of the dice. The frequency tabulation should show how often each die was rolled, as consistent with the data stored in the log..

I have an image inside of a div that I'd like to swap every time the function is triggered. I was able to attach first image through this: Code JavaScript: this.titlecontainer.appendChild(document.createElement('img')).src = 'images/picture' + padded_index + '-t.png';
This indeed does add another image on each function iteration but as the code suggests, it actually APPENDS additional images. Instead, I'd like to SWAP the existing image for a new one. My guess is to remove what's currently loaded inside the div prior to appending another one. What would the line preceding the above have to look like to accomplish removing of the content?

working on a feature that displays 3 news stories. The stories are accessed by 3 buttons on the top, sort of like a tab-style navigation. The catch is that all 3 stories are on the same html page, the "navigation" is just showing/hiding content based on Java, CSS & div's. Where I'm stuck is creating On/Off state for the tab buttons. What I'd like to do is:
Click button 1, buttons 2 & 3 turn off.
Click button 2, buttons 1 & 3 turn off.
Click button 3, buttons 1 & 2 turn off.
Naturally I have separate version of each button for the on/off state, I'm just not sure how to initiate the swap...Do I set a JS variable on the onclick? Or is it just a function?

Newbie here. I am seeking to swap out three images when rolling over one. Cursor hovers over one image - three new images, in different locations, are seen on screen. When cursor moves away - the images revert to "normal" state.
Image 1 - thumbnail - bottom right of screen
When rolling over Image 1, three images change:
Image 1 - to shaded version of the thumbnail
Image 2 - main image center of screen
Image 3 - text box image top right of screen

I think right now jQuery slideDown() will show the content bit by bit (line by line) of that DIV, showing top content first, and then little by little, the content below it...
Is there a way to actually slide the *content* down as well? In order words, showing the bottom of the DIV, and then it will move down, a little by little, and then show more of the content above it.

I'm a real newbie with Javascript, but I'm having fun. I just bought the book, "Simply Javascript" (have only just cracked it so far). I'm reasonably familiar with PHP (I use a lot of it to do simple things). I'm a Web desinger and do custom CSS Websites (I'm fairly new to that too couple of years or more working with CSS and I've never done a table based layout.

But when the button is clicked, nothing will call the showCaption() function again, and I can't figure out how to call that function as the images advance. I have tried a lot of things with a lot of weird results, one being the tne next caption will display in a blank browser window, without the Webpage! I'm not sure why that happens, but I have a clue.
Is there an easier way to do what I want to do? I only want to show a few lines of text that will describe each image. Seems simple enough to me, but I'm just too new to make it work.

I have an image on my page. And I want, when someone clicks on it, it must cycle through an array of images. However, I can't seem to get it to work.
HTML Code:
<div id="slide">
<h3>Some of my work</h3>
<img src="images/slide/slide1.jpg" width="650" height="300" alt="Slide" id="slideShow" onclick="processNext();" />
</div>
Code:
window.onload = initLinks();
window.onload = processNext();
var slidePics = new Array("images/slide/slide1.jpg","images/slide/slide2.jpg","images/slide/slide3.jpg","images/slide/slide4.jpg","images/slide/slide5.jpg","images/slide/slide6.jpg");
var thisPic = 0;
function initLinks(){
document.getElementById("slideShow").onclick = processNext;
}
function processNext(){
thisPic++;
if(thisPic == slidePix.length){
thisPic = 0;
}
document.getElementById("slideShow").src = slidePix[thisPic];
return false;
}

I'm trying to set up a series of questions, which would look basically like an unordered list. Then, upon clicking a box next to any of the questions, the answer would appear underneath the question. Clicking that same box a second time would cause the answer to disappear. It seems very simple, and I've tried using a couple of different text swapping functions, but for some reason I can't get the answer text to appear in the right places. The script seems to have a hard time keeping track of where things are supposed to go, and it's really irritating me. I need to find a solution ASAP.

If slideToggle()'s parameters were expanded to include a separate callback for sliding up and sliding down. Or for backwards compatibility, perhaps include an optional boolean parameter in the callback to more easily discern between a slideUp and slideDown operation.

I am very new to jQuery and am trying to learn by incorporating and editing things I have done in tutorials into an actual website design.
The problem I am having is how to get some text to slide down from behind an image after it is clicked. So for instance; I'd have an image which says "Things to do" or whatever then when the image is rolled over/clicked some text will slide down from behind the image with links to pages of different things to do.
I think it might be something like what was done in this tutorial: [URL]..but that tutorial uses two images rather than an image and a div with text in it which is what I am trying to achieve.
