I need to hide the "next" table.
But with my given example above, it just works for the first <a> Element.

But why ? I cant get the reason... how can I hide the next table after the <p> tag ?

I'm using .parent on a draggable table row and need to check the contents of every cell in a particular column in the table. $(ui.draggable.parents("table")[0]) This gives me the table.. how do I get say the collection of cells in column 2. I thought about something like this: $(ui.draggable.parents("table")[0](tr td[1]))

I'm spawning a child window from a parent. In the child I'm dynamically building a table. When I click "finished" I want the entire table to go back to the parent and replace the original table "shell" (an empty <table> </table> tag-pair).
Note: The table ID is the same at the parent and child. This allows the replacement to work repeatedly. The child window closes but I don't see the table on the parent.
I get the feeling I'm mixing DHTML and DOM (ie "window.opener....") and .. well, I don't know what to think.
Is it OK to nest DOM functions as shown in the code?
I've tried a couple of different things - I'd like to use "replaceNode", but the syntax is not clear in the reference I have.
[b]The problem{/b]
Below is the function triggered by the child window "finished" button's onclick event.
I suspect the variable assignment is wrong as an alert box immediately after it (removed in this sample) did not show up.
function finished() {
var oldReport = window.opener.document.getElementbyId('DBReportsTable');
oldReport.firstChild.removeNode(true); // the <tbody>
oldReport.appendChild(document.getElementById('DBReportsTable').firstChild);
window.close();
return true;
} // finished()

I'm having problems changing a table from a child window.
What works (but I really want to add more complex objects to teh cells
not just plain text)
var myTable = self.opener.document.getElementById("MY_TABLE");
var row = myTable.insertRow();
var cell = row.insertCell();
cell.innerText = "New value";
I've tried the two below methods but they both fail.
var myTable = self.opener.document.getElementById("MY_TABLE");
var row = myTable.insertRow();
var cell = row.insertCell();
cell.appendChild(self.opener.document.createTextNo de("New Value")); <--
Gives me an error of "Invalid arguement"
I've also tried
cell.appendChild(document.createTextNode("New Value")); <-- Gives an
error of "No such interface supported"
Any ideas?

A page I'm working on lets users open a new window, which in turn lets them send data back to the parent page to create new table rows, cells, links, etc. One of the links created is "delete", so it should delete the row that the delete link belongs to when clicked on. I can do this no problem in ff using the setAttribute('onclick',onClickEvent), but can't do this in IE. I'll show some code to make this easier to understand....

Demonstration page: [url]
Adjust the CSS margins of the BODY element with the first slider. The yellow P (paragraph) element resizes to fit its smaller containing block, as I would expect.
Then, adjust the CSS border or padding of the BODY element with the second and third sliders. The P element does not resize, though its origin changes. Instead, it overflows its containing block.
Finally, adjust the margins again. The P element snaps back into its containing block.
As you can see from the source, this is jQuery 1.6.4 and jQueryUI 1.8 pulled from googleapis.com.
Edit: Client is Google Chrome16.0.889.0 dev-m.

I have a table that I wrote/borrowed a function to clone a row in a table. I want the new row to be cleared of data.
$("#addrow").live("click", function() {
//clone last row to variable
var row = $('#dataTable tbody>tr:last').clone(true);
//clear text boxes
[Code]....
The code to clear the text boxes and selection boxes work great. The code to clear the text from the table cells that do not have a form element do not work at all. The .Client and .Project cells that I want to clear are populated by an ajax call and the .total cell is populated by a function that sums the values the text boxes.

I have a site with 2 side by side tables with matching data. The left table is a drag-n-drop implementation so you can reorder the values in the database just by dragging and dropping. It works wonderfully. I want the right table to reflect the changes instantaneously. I got the right table to reload itself with the following jquery line:
$("#newMeet").load(location.href+" #newMeet>*","");
I stuck that line in the "Update" function of my "Sortable" funtion. And the line that I am using to initially stripe the right table is:
$(".checks2:even").addClass("grayBack");
Now matter where I stick that line, I cannot get the table re-striped after it reloads.

have done it many times but today its not working.
function validate() {
(window.parent.opener.location.href)=(window.parent.opener.location.href);
window.parent.opener.location.reload(true);// this is tried as well
}

I am using an AJAX to get an HTML response and insert it into the DOM.This is how my request looks like:
function ajax_get_update() {
$.get(url, function(results) {
var table = $("table", results);
var span = $("span.step-links", results);
[code]....
So, this results in an empty table on the page, though it shouldn't be.

how I would dynamically add another table once text fields in the existing table is clicked on. So pretty much what I have is a table with 5 textboxes lined up horizontally in the first row along with couple of buttons in the second row. What I want is that once one text box is clicked, another table like the one above is created and appears below that initial table. So this is the inital table that should be replicated on each click:
<table>
<tr>
<td><input type="text" /></td>
<td><input type="text" /></td>
<td><input type="text" /></td>
<td><input type="text" /></td>
<td><input type="text" ></td>

I am trying to get the ID of a parent. For example:
<div id="parent_holder1">
<div class="child_div">child div instance one</div>
<br /><div class="child_div">child div instance two</div>
</div><!-- PARENT HOLDER 1 -->
<br /><br />
<div id="parent_holder2">
<div class="child_div">child div instance three</div>
<br /><div class="child_div">child div instance four</div>
</div><!-- PARENT HOLDER 1 -->
When I click any of the children with a class of 'child_dev', I would like to get the ID of the parent the clicked child is within. For example - if I click "child div instance three" it would return "parent_holder2".

I think I can make a good interesting list of postings under this subject header, 'All browsers are cool but IE.'
Anyway, the following code will show a table with an input box labeled, 'name', on all browsers (Gecko, KHTML, Opera) except IE. Is there anybody ever hit on this issue before?
