Is there a way in Javascript or Jquery to return an array of all objects underneath a certain point, ie. the mouse position. Basically, I have a series of images which link to various web pages but I have a large semi transparent image positioned over the top of the other images. I want to find the href of the background image that the mouse pointer clicks over.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am really hoping someone is willing to take the time to read this post and take a minute to take a look at my code. What is happening is there are some matches for a script I made and then an area for segments during an event. If you notice on the segment part of the form is that there is a dropdown that asks for where in the event that segment needs to go. With the Introduction or the different numbered matches. What I need to happen for a subArray I need it to take the introduction, all the matches, and all the segments and order them accordingly. With the introduction first, the matches in order based off there match number and then the segments in between the introduction or matches based off the user's input.[URL]..
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'd like to do something like this: After the page is loaded I have some forms with submit buttons. The buttons have a class called "open". By clicking any of these buttons the script is using AJAX to take some data from database and add some HTML to the document. This part of generated HTML has also buttons with a class "open". By clicking any of the new buttons script should do what it does with the old ones. The problem is I have no idea how to "refresh" a click function. After generating HTML it "sees" only the old buttons.
Here's some code:
$(document).ready(function(){
$(".open").click(function(){
var idVal = $(this).parent().parent().find("#PlaceId").val();
if($("#admin_places_"+idVal).html()=='')
[Code].....
function get_states(country_element,state_element){
countryElementIDHash = "#" + country_element;
stateElementIDHash = "#" + state_element;
$(stateElementIDHash).empty();
var geonameId = $(countryElementIDHash).val();
$.getJSON("[URL]",
{ 'geonameId': geonameId },
function(data) {
if (data.geonames == null) alert('No regions');
$.each(data.geonames, function(i,item){
$(stateElementIDHash).append($('<option>' + item.name + '</option>'));
});
});
}
I'm writing a function to populate a SELECT based on the select value of another SELECT. I can't figure out why this isn't working. It has something to do with not having "'s in my $(). for example: If this function wasn't dynamic.
The code:
$(countryElementIDHash).val(); could simply be
$("#country option:selected").val();
How can I pass dynamically assigned names into a $() ?
I'm new to js and jquery. I need to get access to select forms which are named dynamically. I have no problem when named statically, so this works fine:

I would like to dynamically set a tab title/name depending on the ajax content returned to the page when it loads, is there a way to do this? example
<LI><A href="lookup_return_data.php" title="result"><SPAN>set this content when page loads ie results:6</SPAN></A></LI>
It can be done perhaps with reg expression, but I assume there is a simple jquery solution.
I know that I can retrieve the values from a single object and place them in a <ul> with the following code :
$('document').ready(function(){
var employees = {
name: 'Mary Brown',

I'm opening a dialog box using the jQuery UI dialog methods, this box will display a form, and I would like to autofocus the first element. I'm also modifying tabindex of the different form fields of this new form in order to make them a lot higher than those of the original page, and thus navigate through the form using only the tab key. The issue is that I can correctly change tabindex values, and correctly focus the first element but pressing tab will not focus the next element in my newly added form but seems to act as I was focusing the first "tabindexable" element of my original page. I also note that manually focusing (ie. clicking) the element cause no problem, new tab index order is respected. Does anyone have a clue where it can came from ? Something seems to be messed up in the tabindex order. Tested on FF3, maybe the browser only update tabindex order on "manual" focus and not when modifying attributes ?

<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
var obj = jQuery.parseJSON('{"a":"sss","b":"sss","question":"whi?"}');
//alert(obj.question);
});

How could I know how many objects variable obj has?
I have a table with onw row and one column.I have set class for column also written function for click event for class.Now added table row dynamically and set same class.But click event works only for existing row not for newly added row.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a set of functions that will transition/fade photos in and out as background images. Easy. But now I would like to run the same functions on a different html page with different photos (each different page represents a different JavaScript array).
I've been reading online on how jQuery methods can be called into functions. So my thought process is to create 2 methods (1 for the original images and the 2nd method for the other images).
So here is my base code which works...
$.landingpage = function() {
/*Enable background image cycles on landing page*/
var images=new Array('/image01.jpg','/image02.jpg');
var nextimage=0;

I have an object with a member function that changes something on the objects state. This works perfectly fine in the easy case. But when I use an $.ajax call within the function it doesn't work. Here is the example code and failing QUnit tests: [URL]
View 3 Replies View RelatedOK, I am very new to jQuery so bare with me here. I am trying to get the document body height and set it as the height of a table, after the page has been loaded. Below is an example of what I am trying to do.
[Code]...
I am not sure where to place the jQuery code, before or after the table tag...and I am not even sure if any of my jQuery code is correct. Once again, i need to set the table height AFTER the document has been loaded and then dynamically change the height of the table.
I have kind of a complicated setup, and I was hoping to bounce this off some one's head who's more experienced with JavaScript.Assuming I have the following HTML markup:
<div id="one-root">
ONE
<div id="one">

I have an array form input with an id: field[0], field[1] etc.How can I set the value of each array element directly?
$("#field[0]").val("value") doesn't appear to work.
I've got an input with a value. The input is called 'command2' and I want to send it's value to the 'rover2' object (although I don't know if that object exists yet). I test and say if(rover2){... and if not then I create the object/if so then I insert the value.Question is: I want to do:Code JavaScript:var rover2 = new Rover();but I want to pass the name of the new object by association, so in effect:Code JavaScript:var "rover"+i = new Rover();How would you do that? So that the objects and their names are generated dynamically (or [perhaps a better explanation] so that the string value of a variable can be used as the name of new variable/object)?PS Bonus marks: If I hold HTML fragments as an object and those fragments include inputs, is the value of the input collected as well? i.e. if I have
Code HTML4Strict:
<fieldset>
<input id="foo" type="text" />
[code]....
I am trying to add an event listener to the keyup event for some text
inputs that I am creating dynamically. I have no problems getting it
to work in Firefox, but IE just ignores them. I have created a few
functions to aid in making this process work semi-cross-browser. (I
develop in FF, but everyone who uses it will be using IE6.) ....
I am currently working on building a library and having my functions(methods) within my library. I am having trouble find some code for JavaScript that can help me to do the following:
I need to give an array of objects and the name of a key, return the array sorted by the value of that key in each of the objects: "a" + [{a:2},{a:3},{a:1}] → [{a:1},{a:2},{a:3}]
I want to create an associative array dynamically pulling the index values from an array (propertyArray); Associative array is created inside create function and then returned. But after it is returned, I cant use index names to retrieve values. It returns undefined as below code shows.
Code JavaScript:
var propertyArray=["a","b","c"];
function create(){
var array=[];
[code]....
I need to make a functions with this characteristics:
- params: an array of strings with the names of components in a page
(for example, some inputs)
- body: i need to assign to the property readOnly the value true for
all the objects in the array
Is it possible to create an array of objects? I require a two dimensional array of objects.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo, I'm using code like the following and getting errors: result = a list of cars with each property separated by ',' and each car separated by '|' This code creates and populates the array (seems to work)
var carList = new Array();
var cars = new Array();
var properties = new Array();
cars = result.split("|");
for(var i=0; i<cars.length;i++){

As they all have the same property set but with different values I thought I'd try creating a servo object, the create an array of servo's but I don't think I'm getting anywhere fast. Heres what I have
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-W3CDTD XHTML 1.0 TransitionalEN" "http:www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http:www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
<title>Untitled Document</title>
[Code]...
Once this is done and I've got all the servo objects created with their properties, I'm hoping to be able to search for all servo's with a set property i.e all servo's with servo.application = 1 would that be possible, if not I geuss I'd be wasting all our time trying to create classes I can't use the way I'd like.
I have a list of about 70 servo's that I'd like to apply set properties too.As they all have the same property set but with different values I thought I'd try creating a servo object, the create an array of servo's but I don't think I'm getting anywhere fast.[code]...

Well let's say i have a bunch of div tags with name attribute 'hello'
<div name='hello'></div>
<div name='hello'></div>
<div name='hello'></div>
I want to use JavaScript so that i can look through the array of these div objects.
var helloDivs = document.getElementByName('hello');
var len = helloDivs.length;
.....
So, it works for all the recent version of browsers but not for IE6. There is still about a 10% market share who are still using IE6. What is the workaround for this browser support?
If i were to print the variable len in IE6 says that is 0 and if i print helloDivs, it says it is an object as if helloDivs is a variable that contains an object but not an array of objects.
