I have a series of TEXT inputs each with a corresponding SELECT next to it. I don't know the actual ID of these controls because .net assigns them, but I can use a wildcard.
When the focus leaves one of the Text inputs, I want to display the corresponding Select (which is previously hidden). My ready function looks like this:

It works but I can't have it like that because the form posts to another PHP page that needs the input name as an array.
what would be the best way to have a hidden array of possible text directed at a textarea and then if something is not within that array "onfocus", a certain select option is chosen within that form?

I'm trying to add the text of a textarea form to the string that's contained at:
myarray[a][b][c]
It was easy to pull out the value of the textarea with this:
textinput = $('#mytextarea').val();
But then when I try to add the variable into the array, it doesn't work. I'm not able (apparently) to do this. Fingers crossed that I'm doing something dumb?
This doesn't work:
myarray[a][b][c] += newstringvariable;
Nor this:
myarray[a][b][c] = myarray[a][b][c] + textinput;
I'm guessing there is a very simple (probably syntax related!) solution to this. I'm open to doing this via jQuery or regular javascript.

i've been breaking my brain about this issue for a bit now, so here is my question.

Now what do I write in this iteration loop to first get the text from the FIRST name and age box, in the first <table> (so I can work with tem). And in the next iteration loop get the SECOND <table>´s input fields text values?
Why when i compare input value with array, he match only the first input.

I'd like to have an alert of some type, either standard alert or a hidden div, show up when a user selects an option in a select element.
For instance, if a select element has 5 options in it and the user chooses the first one, they would get an alert that says "You have chosen the first option". I'm confident this is something that can be done with a few lines of code, but I'm not sure where to begin.
Here's the logic - I'm just not sure how to write the syntax...

jQuery is a bit new to me, and I would appreciate a few pointers when dealing with writing some code that takes care of fields in an array one-by-one.On our webpage, we have an option to book "multiple destination" flights, so there are lists of fields that need to be configured for an autocompleter and a calendar. I would like to pull the displayed value from a select control, here is an example:

I'd like Javascript to grab the Yes or No of the select, not the 1 or 0. So, for simplicity, lets use an alert: alert(document.getElementById("test").value) That produces the alert box with 1, I'd like it to alert saying Yes.
I am trying to make a bunch of checkbox inputs and then a button input. when you click the button it will display all the checkboxes clicked. If I can control the output that would be great (not "true", like I want to type my own alert), anyone know how? I just want the simplest way, no ifs or elses or anything like that.

If I take out the alert, it works sometimes - other times it leaves the select box on the first option. I don't want to leave the alert in.

In a form I have an input field. It's supposed to get input form a
scanning device. Thus, the input might contain special characters (like
the Group Separator in a EAN barcode). Now, I want to manipulate a
little with the input in a javascript, but I'm not able to find the
Group Separator:

This is a snip that parses the input, character by character, and gives
me an alert if the Group Separator (Hex: 1D) is found. But it never
matches, even if I know that the input string contains in. I have a
similar script written in Perl, an that script finds the Group Separtor.
What can I do to find the %"#¤ Group Separator??

And it does indeed allow the user to select a file on his computer.
But when I access the value of the control I get an odd value. I do this, in javascript:

And the FileName that I get is "C:/fakepath/MyPicture.jpg"
The actual path is C:/MyDocuments/MyPictures/MyPicture.jpg". But instead it's coming up with "fakepath".
Very weird! How do I get it to return the actual full path to the file on the user's computer?
I have up to 3 dropdown lists that I can select using javascript functions. Depending on what I select in the first dropdown loads what is in the 2nd drop down and so on. i want to be able to select the first drop down and it skips the 2nd one and displays the 3rd one. How do I do that with the current functions I am using.

Is there a method I can call to click on a particular <option> within a <Select>?
I've got a select with several <option> lines,and I have the ID of the one I want to click, but have tried .click() but that doesn't work. It always picks the top of the list, and reading up on it, it sounds like the click isn't what I'd choose. Is there another?
