As an exercise, for the past few days I've been attempting to build a simple search and return data to a page.
The form parses vars to PHP with no refresh PHP gets stuff from the database PHP echos an array Array is output using Jquery in my #result div
Things seem to be working nicely, and the array is indeed coming out the other end.
My next aim was to be able to do something with the output. The first step I assumed would involve printing that array to a table. It's this that I'm having trouble with. I can't figure out the syntax.
With regards to the following code, I think the success function on line 32 and 33 should be something like:
$.each(something something) more something's with TD's and TR's interspersed
The code I have so far is as follows. This successfully echos out the contents of the array, but ultimately isn't useful without being able to access the elements.
I have a jQuery script which shows a specified div based on the select chosen from the dropdown list.The problem im having is how to retain the div state after the page has been posted and then returned too,
i have a form, and for the user to upload a file, i use window.open with my upload script. however, after the file is uploaded, i want the filename to be put back on the original page in an input text field. how would i go about doing this?
I added maphilight to an html page. Suddenly, an unrelatedtable at the bottom of the page disappeared. The box is there, but the most of the table won't appear. Click on the bottom of the table, voila.Remove the jquery, it displays fine. The W3C validator OK's the file. Thisproblem is in IE8, not Firefox.
There are 3 wide lines that divide the data inthe 'missing' preformatted table. If I shorten the length of the 1stor 2nd line (the 3rd line doesn't affect it), it displays properly..[URL]But then I got it to display with minor changes to textabove the table. But then it wouldn't. I finally got[URL]to work and[URL] doesn't work. (edit: most of the time, both files don't always display consistently, even on different computers.) They are *exactly* the same file except for the time stamp in the file!
details: I deleted a couple of lines of text above the table and it displayed OK.When adding the internal #java anchorabove the table, that extra text changed how short the 2nd line needed to be to get the table to display. I had to remove about 6 characters from the 2nd line to get the table to show up again.
I have a page that contains an iframe. The page in this iframe contains a table and the last column of every row has a textbox. Each textbox has an unique id of the form tb_rowNum(tb_1,tb_2 etc.). Each row also has some hidden input elements. I'm accessing these textboxes for processing. Right now, this is how I'm doing it:
OK, I am very new to jQuery so bare with me here. I am trying to get the document body height and set it as the height of a table, after the page has been loaded. Below is an example of what I am trying to do.
[Code]...
I am not sure where to place the jQuery code, before or after the table tag...and I am not even sure if any of my jQuery code is correct. Once again, i need to set the table height AFTER the document has been loaded and then dynamically change the height of the table.
Currently, I'm building a website with jQuery. The function below helps me to get content from a database. In the file content_ajax.php there are some functions to handle ajax-requests. JS calls the PHP-function correctly (I've send an email to myself inside that function to check) but the script doesn't return 'succes' and doesn't give me an error...Also, when I put an alert inside the succes and error function, it doesn't popup!
What may be relevant: - site uses mod_rewrite for friendly url's
I have this basic code following and its not returning anything at all. Even the alert is not alerting. I have checked and the select is sending the value fine But nothing happens on return. What i am missing?
I have a bunch of divs with the same classname, 'mediafield':
And I have this jquery code in my header:
So I know that the click function is getting implemented.. The alert box appears however I get the following error in firebug: uncaught exception: Syntax error, unrecognized expression:[@class=mediafield] Line 0
Nothing happens when firebug is turned off... So I'm not sure why it's throwing the error.
I'm working on a small project and want to create a simple dialog window. I know I can use a plug-in, however that is a bit of a over kill plus its a good way to learn more about jquery.
So everything was going well until clicking the button. I cannot find a way to return the value of what button was pressed so I can take further action within the function.
I have the hover event set up. There are 100 elements in my document of the class square. What I want to do is return the ID of the current square that is hovered and edit the style=' ' attribute of the .square with that specific ID.
Basically what I'm trying to do is write a plug in which connects to a sharepoint web service, traverse the results of the xml document that is returned by the web service for certain elements, and then return a collection of xml elements which I can use in another function on the page that is calling the plugin.My code looks like this:Main Page
<script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { var listItems = $.sharepoint();
i happen to chase my fortunes in development as a newcomer. Scenario,// using jqm-rc2, sample registration - ajax callback scenario
1. Say formtoregister.phpcalls a studentsregister.php // Ajax/json and POST 2. Thisstudentsregister.phpdoes this 2.1 validates POST data, does db work and 2.2 sends back to formtoregister.php following messages //on success echo json_encode($promoinfo);// json format, see below the echoed content echo "<p>Welcome $user </p>" problem,is plain format text is printed Message is: {promo code: JsonNAjax}<p>Welcome Beginner </p>
I am using getJSON to get results from a different domain and i wantedto get _some_ object back when calling getJSON so that i can insertsome variables into the callback scope.Basically, what i wanted to do was this:
var new_json = $.getJSON(url, function(data) { alert (this.variable_from_caller);
I know this is a simple question with a simple answer, but I can't seem to wrap my brain around it.Sorry for the infantile nature of this post. Anyhow, I am making an AJAX call via JQuery and need the function to return a value from a calling function, like so:
I want to open a aspx page as popup at a button click with some text box values being passed toit. Also need to display data in a grid in popup and then when a row is selected send that data back to parent .
I am using a custom dialog function which is called after an AJAX request to see if a file exists. This dialog shows a "Continue" or "Cancel" button and returns true or false depending on which button is clicked. It can also be switched between "alert" and "confirm" functions.
Here's the function: //Popup dialog function popup(message,mode) { // get the screen height and width var maskHeight = $(document).height(); var maskWidth = $(window).width(); // calculate the values for center alignment var dialogTop = (maskHeight/3) - ($('#dialog-box').height()); var dialogLeft = (maskWidth/2) - ($('#dialog-box').width()/2); // assign values to the overlay and dialog box ..... $('#dialog-overlay').css({height:maskHeight, width:maskWidth}).show(); $('#dialog-box').css({top:dialogTop, left:dialogLeft}).show(); if(mode=="alert") { $('#continue, #cancel').hide(); $('#close').show(); $('#close').click(function() { $('#dialog-overlay, #dialog-box').hide(); return false; }); } else { $('#continue').click(function() { $('#dialog-overlay, #dialog-box').hide(); return true; }); $('#cancel').click(function() { $('#dialog-overlay, #dialog-box').hide(); return false; }); $('#continue, #cancel').show(); $('#close').hide();} // display the message $('#dialog-message').html(message); }
Here's how I call the function: success: function(result) { if(result==1) { if(!popup("<p>Plugin version exists. Overwrite?</p>","confirm")) { $('#file_upload').uploadifyCancel(); } else { $('#file_upload').uploadifyUpload(); }} else { alert("Doesn't Exist "); }
After a few tries I realised that the file was always being uploaded whether it existed or not. I then used the alert function to show me what is being returned from the popup() function and it was returning "undefined". Obviously the function isn't waiting for a response from the listeners. How can I change this so the function doesn't return until one of the buttons has been clicked?
I have a weird bug that's occuring in pretty much all the browsers. If I close the tab, and then hit Ctrl -> Shift -> T to bring it back the width() method returns 0 on an appended image instead of what the image actually is. Hitting refresh on the tab removes this bug and everything works fine. I will also say that trying .css('width') and document.getElementById('divShadowLeft'); Both also return 0 for this bug.
I can't show all the code for security reasons, but I'll just outright ask.. what are the reasons that width() would return 0 on an image? I've checked to make sure that it was visible (both display and visibility properties), and I checked the length of the property to ensure it was there. I just can't figure out why width() is returning 0.
I have a very simple PHP script that returns JSON like this: {"question":"What day is it?"}
And I'm trying to call it from another page using Ajax. My code looks like this: var url = "/test.php"; $.get(url, function(data){ $.each(data, function(i, value) { alert(value); }, "json" ); });
When I run it I get each character printed out one at a time in a separate alert. And then when I used this line of code: alert(typeof data); It tells me that 'data' is a string. Shouldn't it be a JSON object?
Yet, when i made the json calls(cross domain), it just return me nothing. However, under the same domain, I got the pop-up alert and return me the relevant data. But getJSON is suppose to be feasible across all domains irrespective of the same-origin policy.
