The above 2 ways of defining the success call back confused me.
1) According to definition, it should take 3 parameters, why here it only takes 1 parameter?
2) Why the name of parameter passed into function() can be different? Does this name matter?
I am trying to implement the getJSON function.
My code for utilizing the getJSON follows:
Where un in a reference to a Textbox.
I can debug and verify that the call to
Occurs and return correct answers.
My problem is that the "success callback function" of the getJSON function is NEVER called.
today I updated my Firefox from 3.5 to 4.0b3 and it seems that the AJAX success callback is not longer fired. Firebug shows the correct response but the function is never called. Is this a Problem of the FF Beta, or is Jquery responsible for this?

I have a really simple scenario which got broken after upgrading to 1.5.the defined handler for the success callback in $.ajax doen't set the data parameter - it's always undefined. This works fine in 1.4.4.

I need to invoke showBigGreenTick(fieldname) for the fields that are validOn another note, I find it very strange the the documentation is so poor regarding this validation. I can't use the value returned by $.post() method out of the scope of success function.
For instance in below example myvar alerted as empty even though var is alerted with a value. Besides, hide does not work in the scope of success function.
I'm trying to submit a form with the jQuery Form Plugin by malsup. I'm fairly positive my code is correct because in IE8 the success function is being called and the background of the boxes are turning green. In IE7 however, The submit function is definitely working as the file is uploaded to the correct place, but the success function is not being called/fired. Any ideas as to why this might be? Do IE7 and IE8 handle this that differently? The function in the success call is just changing a checkbox and combo box background colors to green.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen using .ajax, and when before I receive any data back from the server, I would like to call a function that could display some type of 'thinking' icon. In looking a the documentation I see there is a 'success', for when after receiving data back successfully, and an 'error', for obviously when something bad happens and need to error gracefully. I do not see something like a 'beforeSuccess' function that would allow me to specify, for example, to overlay a 'thinking icon' on top of a <div> after request is sent to the server and before I get any data back. I would assume this is a pretty standard necessity in ajax applications, and probably missing something here. How exactly is this done using the .ajax methods?

If I close the tab, and then hit Ctrl -> Shift -> T to bring it back the width() method returns 0 on an appended image instead of what the image actually is. Hitting refresh on the tab removes this bug and everything works fine. I will also say that trying
.css('width') and
document.getElementById('divShadowLeft');
Both also return 0 for this bug.
I can't show all the code for security reasons, but I'll just outright ask.. what are the reasons that width() would return 0 on an image? I've checked to make sure that it was visible (both display and visibility properties), and I checked the length of the property to ensure it was there. I just can't figure out why width() is returning 0.

I have a very simple PHP script that returns JSON like this:

And I'm trying to call it from another page using Ajax. My code looks like this:

When I run it I get each character printed out one at a time in a separate alert. And then when I used this line of code:
alert(typeof data);
It tells me that 'data' is a string. Shouldn't it be a JSON object?
