JQuery :: Returning Object From Plugin?

Aug 24, 2009

Basically what I'm trying to do is write a plug in which connects to a sharepoint web service, traverse the results of the xml document that is returned by the web service for certain elements, and then return a collection of xml elements which I can use in another function on the page that is calling the plugin.My code looks like this:Main Page

$(document).ready(function() {
var listItems = $.sharepoint();

JQuery :: Get Function Returning String Not JSON Object

Aug 5, 2009

I have a very simple PHP script that returns JSON like this:
{"question":"What day is it?"}

And I'm trying to call it from another page using Ajax. My code looks like this:
var url = "/test.php";
$.get(url,
function(data){
$.each(data, function(i, value) {
alert(value);
}, "json"
);
});

When I run it I get each character printed out one at a time in a separate alert. And then when I used this line of code:
alert(typeof data);
It tells me that 'data' is a string. Shouldn't it be a JSON object?

JQuery :: Functions Are Returning A Deferred/promise Object?

Nov 7, 2011

I've been going through the documentation for the deferred objects API, and one thing that's still not clear to me is : what jQuery functions are returning a deferred object?

The documentation seems to say that jQuery.ajax() and the animation functions like jQuery.fadeIn() does (what about jQuery UI effects?), but the pages for those functions say they return a jqXHR object and a plain jQuery object.

JS Not Returning CSS Object Attribute Values

Mar 23, 2009

From the code given below, I think it's pretty obvious what problem I'm having, but I'll explain:

Javascript is only returning HTML DOM attribute values when they are assigned by the javascript function, not when they are assigned by CSS. So, if I set the background colour of a div using CSS, then try to call that attribute value, JS doesn't return it, BUT, if I then assign a new value using JS, it can correctly read the attribute value.

What am I doing wrong? Or can javascript not pull HTML DOM attribute values assigned by CSS?[code]...

Returning Multiple Values Using XMLHTTP Object?

Apr 6, 2006

I'm just starting to try out "Ajax" web programming and I've got a question.

AJAX is fairly straightforward. Javascript creates an XMLHttp object and
then uses that to generate a hidden webpage with your results.

What I'd like to know is, how can I retrieve multiple values from an XMLHttp
request?For example, if my request generated an SQL query that returned a
Name, Address and PhoneNumber, could I get those values directly instead of
parsing them out of the ResponseText?

This is my current handler:

function showResult(pge) {
var url="getResult.asp?sid=" + Math.random() + "&q=" + pge
xmlHttp=GetXmlHttpObject(stateChanged)
xmlHttp.open("GET", url , true)
xmlHttp.send(null)
}

function stateChanged() {
if (xmlHttp.readyState==4 || xmlHttp.readyState=="complete") {
//Complete, so show results.
document.getElementById("myResult").innerHTML=xmlHttp.responseText;
//How to get mulitple values here?
}
}

JQuery :: Plugin Passing Wrapper Object As This

Feb 11, 2010

I created a quick plugin. You can see it at http: [URL]. It has a strange feature. This plug-in treats the jQuery wrapper object as a group, and passes the whole wrapper in as the context object (the "this") for the functions supplied. Generally, when functions are supplied as parameters, either the context is irrelevant, or each DOM element in the jQuery wrapper is passed. But I don't do that. My plug-in keeps a reference to the jQuery wrapper and calls the functions in that context. This is necessary, because the whole idea is to act on a number of elements as a group -- in this case by fading in and out all members of the group when any individual one is hovered -- but I don't recall seeing this done elsewhere in the jQuery ecosphere.

JQuery :: GMap Plugin - Modifying A JSON Object?

I've started using the gMap plugin [URL] in my site

I have a div, with id "map" in my code and I am creating the map with the following code, passing in a JSON object for config:

$(function() {
$("#map").gMap({
latitude: 54.7,
longitude: -4,

I want to programatically re-center the map and add markers elsewhere in my code, but don't know how to access this JSON object to modify it.

The way I'm currently doing this is to call gMap again with some new configuration, but I don't think this is right as I think it's re-creating the map all over again.

JQuery :: Calling Browser Plugin Object On True Condition?

Feb 19, 2010

I am using this Browser Plugin call: world = new MTSPlugin( '../obj/main.mtx', '100%', '100%', '', 'simple', ''); in the middle of my page, where I want to load this object. (It is a 3d rendering modul Viewpoint Player)

Now I want to add a browser check, as this plugin runs only in IE. When I dedect that the page is loaded with IE, I am writing via Jquery a class name into my body tag.

I thought, it would work if I do the following:

if($('body').attr('class').length > 1){
world = new MTSPlugin( '../obj/main.mtx', '100%', '100%', '', 'simple', '');
}

But for some reason, the if fails, as it seem that the plugin is called earlier than the jquery browser check, so the class name is not set at this point.

Then I thought, making a function arround and call it onLoad within the body tag.
Which has the disatvantage that the MTS Plugin is loading at the worng place on the page.

What I want, is that the call to the object "world = new MTSPlugin( '../obj/main.mtx', '100%', '100%', '', 'simple', '');"
is only at a trie condition at the place where it should be...

JQuery :: Call A Plugin Function From A Html File In Which The Plugin Is Running

Aug 18, 2011

I have a slideshow plugin and there is a function in it called stopAutoplay(). This is called when I click on the pre-defined pause button in the slideshow, so it stops.

If I switch between the slideshows(Slideshow 1 2 3) the slideshow is getting messier and messier because it starts many slideshows at the same time and the plugin gets confused what to show.

I figured if I click on the pause button before I switch to another slideshow it works fine. Therefore what I would like to achieve now is to call stopAutoplay() somehow before I switch to the new slides.

How can I call stopAutoplay() from the html file when I click on one of the slideshow 1 2 3 buttons?

I've tried the codes in green below but they don't work.

fadeSlideShow(); plugin pause function part:
stopAutoplay = function(){
clearInterval(intval);
intval = false;

[Code]....

If there is a better solution let's say to kill everything before the new slideshow appears it's even better. Although I've tried die(), empty(), detach(), remove(). I hoped remove() would help cause as I read it's suppsed to remove everything but for some reasons it doesn't...

JQuery :: Creating An Extension Plugin To The UI Date Picker Plugin?

Jul 12, 2011

I am creating an extension plugin to the jQuery UI Date Picker plugin mostly to just standardize the options used, as well as to add an icon to open the calendar. I am aware of the plugin's use of an icon trigger, but this will not work, as I am using an icon in my sprite image and not wanting an additional request for a mere icon.

My plugin code:

(
function
(
$
)

[Code]....

This is where it really perplexes me as this code does work to produce the calendar icon. while I could get it to work this way, it is obviously not the better choice as it should be part of the extension plugin and not get repeated in all of my various implementations of the plugin.

JQuery :: Returning Php To Page In A Table?

Jan 15, 2012

As an exercise, for the past few days I've been attempting to build a simple search and return data to a page.

The form parses vars to PHP with no refresh PHP gets stuff from the database PHP echos an array Array is output using Jquery in my #result div

Things seem to be working nicely, and the array is indeed coming out the other end.

My next aim was to be able to do something with the output. The first step I assumed would involve printing that array to a table. It's this that I'm having trouble with. I can't figure out the syntax.

With regards to the following code, I think the success function on line 32 and 33 should be something like:

$.each(something something) more something's with TD's and TR's interspersed

The code I have so far is as follows. This successfully echos out the contents of the array, but ultimately isn't useful without being able to access the elements.

<html>

<body>
