JQuery :: Make Hidden Things Not Show Up On Load / Refresh?
Dec 23, 2010
I have some contents on my page that are displayed on click or hover. Therefore, initially they are hidden using the hide() method.
They work fine as intended.
But if it is a slow computer, you can see them on the screen for a second or two before they disappear. Or if the user refreshes the page - you get the same thing happen. How can I prevent this?
Nothing fancy, however with that in there, the page seems to load twice in IE. It fetches the SSI header, then clears it, then loads the rest of the page 'behind the scenes', then finally displays it.
If I remove the embed, it loads the page bit by bit and you can start reading before the rest of the page is done, which is what is desired for obvious reasons.
Any idea why embed causes this? Works fine in FF etc.
Right I have a process page in php which is fairly long and complex with many options. If a certain option case is met as this ie: we've hit the Note Saved case.
// save notes against company if ($_POST['a']=="Save Note") { if (addnote($_POST['notetitle'],$_POST['notebody'])) { $err = "<p id="returnresults"><font color="red"><strong>Note Saved</strong></font></p>"; } else { $err = "<p id="returnresults"><font color="red"><strong>Failed to save note.</strong></font></p>"; } }
I want to then wait until the page load is complete and then do the following.
The reason I need to wait for page complete is that the div that needs to be displayed it one of the last parts of the page rendered so triggering the above too soon leads to the div not actually being available to be shown. Now my current fail attempt at doing it was this echo "<script type="text/javascript">if (confirm('You have not yet added a call back event do you wish to do so now?')) { document.getElementById('addevent').style.display='block'; } However it doesn't display the hidden div
I wanted help for a JavaScript code. You might think I'm lazy for not writing it myself, but the truth is I am not a JavaScript coder. I just have a really simple website and I am trying to do something for which I know JS is required but I don't know how to do it. I've also searched around but couldn't find the appropriate code.
What I want to do is to make an html page load a different background image every time it refreshes.I will have a list of background images and I want to be able to add in this list, without having to change anything else in the codes after I do this (I think this is made by making an array of images and by putting .length somewhere in the codes, but I don't know exactly how I should do this).I already know how to do an external file (.js) and link to it from my .html page. Now I want the code to put in the .js file, and the code to put in the <body> of my .html file.
I'm trying to make selected text appear / disappear depending on what the user clicks on. It works perfectly (as far as i can tell) in firefox, but in IE i get "Could not get the display property. Invalid argument". the strange thing is, it will make things disappear, but not show. I'm trying to change the display from 'none' to 'table-row' because that's the only thing that would display properly in firefox. here is the applicable [code]...
1)i need to create a form with few fields like phoneno, website, address etc and one text area. 2) i copy n paste the details in the textarea n when i click d button. it should automatically populate things into the respective fields.
here s my logic wt i taught of:
1)read the first line in the textbox and load it into contact person field. 2)find the @ symbol and put it into the respective field and if there are more than 1 mail id load it into the same feild using commas. 3)if the phone no is 10 digits then load it into the mobile field else load the rest it into phone field. 4)find for words like road, street, block, stage, floor etc,if present then load it into the address field till the last comma is encountered. 5)the last digits in the address should be loaded into the pincode field. 6)the last word present in the address after the last comma and before the hyphen should be loaded into the city field. 7)find for www or http and load it into the website field,if not found leave it blank.
Is there a way to make one regex to replace a space with " " and a tab with " "?
Currently I'm using two regex's with string.replace( ... ).replace( ... ), but that means it has to run through the string twice. Any way to do what I want in one regex?

I have a page that has a a two part div system bioTop (top div) and bioBot(bottom div). The bioBot is hidden (.hide()) and shows with the click of the more text. Also there is clickable text to change the text in the divs from english to spanish and vice versa. The click for the top divs work just fine. The issue presents its self when the english or spanish text is clicked the bottom div does not take the new information or the text int the bottom div does not change. Can a hidden div have new information loaded into it. The page that the action is on is oncalllegal. The jquery for the english and spanish text is.

I have a moderate level of experience with javascript, and a good oo background. So, when I tried jquery I'm really liking it. I have a requirement to add input fields dynamically to the form since I don't know ahead of time how many entries the user may request. I was able to implement this with jquery very quickly with a small
I am working with ASP.net and VB as my code behind. I tried solving this in normal JavaScript with no luck. I have a textbox that when it receives focus I want to make the next 3 controls visible. I have tried the included code with no luck. Here is the Head and Jquery.
I have a div tag element and a hide/show button above it. I'm able to handle the hide show of the contents all right via the button, but I want the div to be hidden when someone clicks anywhere else in the document, save inside the div area itself. This functionality is similar to what you see on the sign on panel in twitter.com. Press the sign in, the div sign in panel displays. Press the sign in link OR anywhere else on the document outside the panel. The panel is hidden. What's the best way to script this functionality in jquery?
I have a vertical navigation menu with the basics (a <ul> with four <li>) but I need one of these list elements to slide to the left and when it finishes show or slide down a nested <ul> with its own li that is now hidden with display: none. and when I click again the first list element I wish everything to close back. or alternatively to close with a timeout. so far I got to this:
