JQuery :: Key Events Stop Working?

Mar 4, 2010

I have this code in a website I'm making:

$(document).ready(
function () {
$('body').keyup(function(event){
console.log(event.which);

[Code].....

But the event isn't working all the time. It stops working after I change to another window and come back to the browser window.

How To Stop Events From Happening

May 31, 2007

I've been working on a multi-level drop down menu. It is already finished but while making it I encountered a problem that I'd like to find a solution for.

In the code, I clearly seperated the Model, View and Controller parts. The View part basically works with a single redraw-function. It clears the HTML of the complete drop-down menu and redraws it by recreating the needed DIV elements and adding them back to the webpage. The Controller part is a simple state machine that has transitions on onmouseover, onmouseout and onclick events.

In practice, when the mouse was moved over or out of some menuitem, the menu would be redrawn. The redraw function would first remove the complete menu from the HTML dom, and then re-insert the elements of the changed menu. Each of these elements contains a onmouseover and onmouseout argument.

The problem is as follows: in every redraw, when the menu is removed a onmouseout event is triggered, and when the menu is re-created a onmouseover event (in FFox). In IE, for some reason only a onmouseout event is triggered. This made my state machine think that the user actually moved the mouse pointer out of the menu element. Therefore the menu would go bananas and collapse!

The best way to solve this seems to simply ignore all of the user inputs during the redraw funtion for, say, 5 milliseconds during the redraw. However, in pratice, when the user moves the mouse very quickly the state machine 'misses' a mouseout event and the menu doesn't disappear as it should.

My question now is: does anybody know a neat way to prevent these 'ghost' events from happening while rebuilding the page, without interfering with the 'real' events?

DHTML Events Not Working In IE But Working In Firefox And Chrome?

May 10, 2010

I am working on a Javascript application and i am facing a strange behavior of the application in IE. I am creating a table at runtime using DHTML and registering event for the table row click. When i deploy this application on web server and browse the application, the events fires in firefox and chrome but in IE the events are not fired. If i browse the application from the server with localhost, the application triggers the events and fails when i use machine name.

The following is the source code:

JQuery :: Importing Two Versions Of Cause Plugins To Stop Working?

Oct 6, 2010

I'm brand new to jQuery, so I apologize if this is a 101 question, but I'm trying to sort out a production issue. I do QA for an ecommerce website. When one of our developers made some changes to our application recently, a couple of the plugins we use stopped working on those pages. Looking at the code, it seems we load jQuery 1.4 and several plugins, including autocomplete and popdown. In the changes, for some reason, the developer loads jQuery 1.4.2 (after 1.4 has been called) but doesn't call the plugins again. I'm assuming that this is the reason the plugins stop working. Can anyone confirm this theory?

(The reasons why we don't call 1.4.2 earlier in the document are, sadly, mostly bureaucratic. If I can get this confirmation, hopefully I can push through that.)

JQuery :: Events Not Working On HTML Inserted Through AJAX Call?

Oct 20, 2010

I've used to an AJAX call to load a HTML table into div. This is working successfully. I know want to use a click event on buttons located within the inserted table.

The click event is triggering on buttons outside the inserted table but not on the buttons within the table.

Do I need to call some sort of refresh function to so that jQuery is able to pick up these events?

Two Onlick Events - One With A Return Not Working?

JQuery :: Events Defined In $.each (creating List Elements With Events) Not Executing?

Jul 21, 2010

I am trying to "ajaxify" my site. Now I have one problem:

$("#posts").children().remove();
$("#tag-sidebar").children().remove();
$.each(data.Tags_Sidebar, function (indexInArray, valueOfElement) {
var insert = $("<li>");

[Code]......

Now when I click one of those links (href1, href2, href3) generated, the click event won't execute! What's the problem? Also, is it right that I have to transfer the valueOfElement over, like I did? What does stopEventPropagation do? Prevent the href from being navigated to? That's what I am trying to do.

The data object is JSON fed from here:[URL]

The HTML is here: [URL]

Multiple OnClicks Events Aren't Working Together?

The user is meant to click a button, see the overlay thanking them for their vote, and then be redirected to the affiliate page (its a poll site) after about 3 seconds. I have everything down, except, it will either display the overlay as one of the onClick events, or it will do the timedRedirect but not both. I've tried putting the redirect before and after, and when its before it redirects, when its after, it shows the overlay. How can I do a timed redirect and show this message?

Enable / Disable Mouse Events Not Working?

Feb 7, 2010

I'm trying to enable/disable a textarea. I am able to do a mouseout disable, but cannot do a mouseover enable. For instance, when I click on the image, a textarea shows up. When I move my mouse to a different location, the textarea disables fine.Then when I try to move my mouse back over the textarea, it DOES NOT enable for me to write in it.I just happen to try out this code in IE and the textareas are not showing up where I click. I assume that I'm capturing the X/Y coordinates incorrectly for an IE browser.

JQuery :: Fancybox Links Within A Jshowoff Slide Causing Fancybox To Stop Working?

Oct 17, 2010

I've been working on a freelance design site, and I have been using jshowoff and fancybox on my portfolio page. The portfolio has multiple sections that are set to be scrolled through using jshowoff by using the slide links. This use of jshowoff is working perfectly fine, but fancybox isn't. fancybox is supposed to be set to launch a modal when any of the portfolio thumbnail images are clicked. As it is right now, fancybox links will not work within the jshowoff slide div, but they do work outside of the jshowoff slide div.

I have done about 5 hours of searching online for possible fixed to my issue, and I haven't found anything. I am attempting to fix the conflict the between jshowoff and fancybox. I am very new to using jQuery plugins, so hopefully, you can all bear with me.If anyone may know how I can fix my fancybox links, so that fancybox will work within my jshowoff slide, I'd greatly appreciate it. Js Stop Working - Show Google Suggestion While Typing In An Input Field

Dec 12, 2011

I had a beautiful script written by @rnd me that looks like this:

Code:
<body>
<input id='inp' /> <select id='sug' />
<script type='text/javascript'>
function el(tid) {return document.getElementById(tid);}
function addScript(u){
var head=document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0],
[Code]....

This script made it possible to show Google suggestion while typing in an input field. The Google suggestions are retrieved over here: [URL] The problem is that all of the sudden it stopped working! For apparently no reason because Google is still 'providing' the suggestions online. So I have two questions: Why is it stopped working? Did Google restrict the suggestions to third parties?
