I have 2 page. one of them,is gallery.html and another one, is index.html.i want to load the content of the gallery page into <div id="content-gallery"></div> in index.html.I use the fallowing code :
$( 'a#gallery' ).click( function()
{
$( '#content-gallery' ).load( 'gallery.html' );
});
but it works only in IE8,FF, and safari. It doesn't work in chrome and opera (latest version).In opera and chrome, when i click on <a id="gallery">show gallery</a> it show only a bank page.i use jQuery Library v1.3.2.
Before image upload I want users to preview their choice. For some reason JS doesn't work with all browsers except FF.When a user selects file, JS preview function should insert it into #addPreview div where preview.gif is located as a default picture. If everything goes OK preview.gif is replaced with new selected file. Otherwise wrong size or file type is detected. Alert message appears in #addPreviewAlert div.Here's my code:
HTML CODE
Code:
<!-- ALERTS -->
<div id="addPreviewAlert"></div>
<!-- END ALERTS -->[code]...
Tell me why Firefox works as desired, but all other browsers don't allow any preview. They don't show any JS error messages and alerts either.
I have got the following problem:[code]I create a new image and want to fire a function, when the image is loaded. This works the first time I load the Image in IE. To my mind the image seems to be in the cache now. When I want to want to open the image the next time in the browser, the load function does not fire again. In all the other Browsers this works, but not in IE9.Is there a way out of this misery?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'd like to switch any broken images in dynamically loaded HTML to a warning graphic, something like:
[Code]...
This works with with the 'click' event but not with 'error' or 'load'is there another way to do it? I remember with .live() there were restrictions on what events could be bound, but I can't find that in the documentation anymore for jQuery 1.7's .on()
I'm trying to write function that will display some text and image by changing innerHTML of div element. The function is:
function showWaitImage(){
document.getElementById('image').innerHTML = "<span class='style'>Uploading photo, please wait...<img src='http://www.example.com/img/wait.gif' id='waitImage' width=ཛྷ' heght=ཛྷ' /></span>";
}
When I run this function, I see message and broken image in FireFox. I checked code and image URL like ten times, it should work, but it doesn't.
I'm trying to do some rollover images for a webpage I need to design, for class. I have them set up, and they work.. but the issue is that I set it up in such a way that the .js file is dynamic, and works for each page. You know, so that I don't actually have to specify the images within the .js file. The problem with THAT is that it doesn't automatically load the rollover version of each image, when the page loads.. so it's a bit sluggish.

I'm using the following chunk of code to find images located in a specific span and then I'm setting the span width to equal the width of the image that's inside of it. This is for adding captions to images through an editor that our writers use. By forcing the span to equal the same width of the image, the writers can just enter whatever captions they want and don't have to worry about manually adding <br /> tags to format the captions correctly.
$('.overview-content .caption img')
// once the image has loaded, execute this code
.load(function() {
// Loop through and find all images in the overview section
[Code].....
For some reason... IE and Opera completely ignore this function. Firefox, Safari and Chrome all add the appropriate inline style to the span.
Opera is the only browser giving trouble with this jQuery statement:

The SELECT does not fill with ANY options. It is blank. Worse, I can turn on DragonFly in an effort to trace it down, and the problem disappears. The options are displayed as they should. I have a .lload function that I use to work around caching problems in IE. Using this function in Opera does not fix the problem. I have no reason to believe, therefore, that this is a caching issue.
Wrote what I though would be a simple script to convert Fahrenheit to Celsius, feet to meters... and vice versa. It uses onchange="calculate(this)" in the input fields, so when the individual enters a number and hits tab or enter it automatically calls the calculate() function and does the needed conversion. I'm passing (this), 'this' being the input field, and calculate() pulls out the needed data for the conversion.
It works great in Firefox. But in IE or Opera, the calculate() function never even gets called. I've searched for an answer, but to now avail. I haven't written much JavaScript and am not entirely sure what's causing the problem. Kinda makes me think of Java, where if you want to use action listeners, you need to first instantiate a listener object. Is there somekinda event listener in JavaScript that Opera and IE want instantiated? Here is my code in it's entirety.

The following code opens the desired IE page if you are using IE, FF, Chrome or Safari(IE).. Otherwise, if you're not using IE, you get a message that you need to use it (just the way it has to be for now.) The function doesn't work in Opera -- I'm using 9.63.
Code:
function checkBrowser(){
ns = (document.layers) ? true : false;
ie = (document.all) ? true : false;
ff = document.getElementById? true : false;

I was trying to make simple JS script, but it seems like i have problem.
I have really basic html:
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-2"?>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

AS you see, i have ONE div element, and Firefox alerts the 1 as result, which is correct. But Opera (9) and Ie(7) returns length of 0. How is that possible?
this is intresting. I tryed to use '*' instead of 'div', to search for all elements. FF alerts HEAD, BODY and DIV elements, while opera only first two, and not Div.
I have some simple code to have one div bounce around inside another. It works fine on Firefox and IE, but for some reason in Opera and Chrome it only moves left to right.
This suggests that Chrome and Opera allow you to dynamically set style.left but not style.top. This seems odd to me.
why this won't run as intended on Chrome or Opera?
Here's a very simplified version of my code to demonstrate the problem:
Code:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
<html>
<head>
[Code]....
I have a code (see below), in Firefox it works perfectly: it saves submitted information after clicking __JL_SAVE button and keeps user on same page.But in Internet Explorer & Opera it only redirects to index page (index.php) and doesn't save submitted information.
Here is code:
echo '<form action="index.php" id="mosForm" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data">';
global $mainframe;
echo "<pre>".print_r($mainframe->_session,true)."</pre>";

I am loading a list of answers give by a specific user into a tab panel. To do this I'm using the following code: $('#questionBody').load('dashboard/questions'); All the html elements not from a loop such as a header image show up fine but the list of answers looks like it's displayed similar to when you use print_r() on an array. Is load() the proper function to use here?
here's an example of the output:
{"status":200,"data":{"questions":[],"params":{"page":false},"user_answers":{"13":{"flagged":"0","regdate":"1282869034","id":"13","qid":"9","body":"an answer of course...","payed":"1","question":{"id":"9","title":"test","body":"test","uid":"1586","permalink":"/question/view/9"},"status":"complete"},"11":

Here is what I have for an ajax call
If you are not familiar w/ CF - the double octothorpe is simply to escape istself
Ok - if incNotes.cfm simply contains some text - the text is output in notesDiv as expected.
If the incNotes file simply says to dump a query - it does so as expected
If I say to dump the url variables - then the url variable ID is blank. It simply does not populate.
Here is the incNotes.cfm file....
Here is an image of the results I get when called via .load

It works fine in all browsers except ie(6,7,8) Internet Explorer can not open website. Operation Aborted. I understand it is caused by the jquery autocomplete function loading before the page / DOM has fully loaded. I tried adding Defer="true" to the script however this doesn't seem to work. what i must add to the script so that it loads after the dom has fully loaded?
I can't get Opera to fire an event when an image object's src has
loaded. The test code I'm using is this -
---------------------------------
window.onload=go
function yo() {
alert("yo");
}
function go() {
//alert("go?");
var pic=new Image();
pic.onload=yo; // method 1
//pic.addEventListener("load",yo,false); // method 2
pic.src="serenity.jpg";
}
---------------------------------
Code is in a file on it's own referenced from the xhtml. Using either
of the two methods indicated the function yo doesn't get called.
Code works as expected in Firefox, Mozilla, Konqueror, IE. If I
uncomment the alert in go() I can see that go does actually get called.
Nothing comes up in Opera's Javascript console.
How do I get the callback for load() to wait until the load is complete?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe're attempting to load a snippet of XHTML into a container on a page via .load() from a fancyBox pop-up.
Here's the bit of jQuery we're using:
[Code]...
I'm trying to load one page into another using the .load() method. This loaded page contains a script that I want to execute when it has finished loading. I've put together a simple example to demonstrate:
Index.html:
<html>
<head>
<title>Jquery Test</title>
[Code]....
When the link is clicked, the content should load and the second paragraph should fade away. However it doesn't execute. It is not just a matter of the DOM not being available, a simple alert("") won't execute either. However, if I do away with the #toLoad selector in the .load() call, it works fine. I am not sure why this is, as the <script> block is clearly in the scope of the #toLoad div? If the script from content.html was in the .load() callback, it works fine. I have worked around the problem by having the callback use .getScript () to load "content.js" afterwards and have the JS logic in there. This is arguably a more elegant solution anyway, but I'm keen to know *why* the above doesn't work, is it a bug?
my code is as follows:
<td><a href="#" id ="putsomeDynamicvalue">ingresar</a></td>
<script type ="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function(){
[code]....
I'm developing this website: [URL]...but now I have a problem. Just on IE it's not loaded right If i put any <script> tag on my page to load, even if it's an HTML comment (<!-- <script> ... -->), the jQuery loads, and the jQuery response says SUCCESS, but doesn't show like needs to show on the screen :( If i delete the script tag, it shows perfect on the whole IEs (ie 6, ie 7 and ie 8)
Does anybody have any idea what is happening? what can i do to fix it? Obs: You can click on the other menus, and it'll load perfect, just the fist page not, because has the script tag
I am experiencing a problem with some images I am using for navigation. In Safari on my Mac everything displays as it should. The image loads ok, I mouse over the image and it goes black and white, mouse out and it goes back to colour.
When I tested this with Firefox and Opera on my Mac and IE8 and Firefox on my Windows laptop the onmouseover image does not appear and I am left with a text link and a lot of flickering as you move the mouse about.
I have almost zero knowledge when it comes to javascript and I've got the necessary code which according to everyone works from either books or the web.
I am completely stuck as to why this simple operation is not working.
you can see the page at this address: [url]
Only the left hand image has been set to onmouseover as I was testing to see if it worked first.
I have attached the CSS and HTM files in a zip file.
We've got a server-side page (status.php) that dynamically generates a GIF image. The displayed image depends on the value of a boolean field in a database. Just calling the page displays the current value of the boolean, calling it with a parameter switch (status.php?switch) flips the database value and generates a new image. We've included headers to prevent caching of the image by the browser.
Whenever our HTML page is displayed in the browser, we just include an image that shows the current status: img src='status.php'/
We want to allow the user to click the image, which then inverts the boolean status in the database: img src='status.php' onclick='this.src=status.php?switch;'/
This works great in Internet Explorer, but both Mozilla and Opera only allow to switch once. My idea of the problem is that those browsers think like this; after one click, the src is already 'status.php?switch', so changing the src again would be redundent in their eyes, so they won't do it.
We found a temporary solution by generating the current time as a parameter in the image URL: img src='status.php' onclick='this.src=status.php?switch+(new Date());'/
However, this is not a very elegant solution.
Does anyone know a proper solution to this? This means, forcing Mozilla and Opera to load an image using JavaScript, even though the URL of the image didn't change?
Is there a cross browser way to change the opacity of an image? I have found a way that works for IE and Firefox but would like it to work in Safari and Opera as well.
