JQuery :: Load In Opera 10.6 Not Firing Complete?
Aug 30, 2010
Opera is the only browser giving trouble with this jQuery statement:
[Code]..
The SELECT does not fill with ANY options. It is blank. Worse, I can turn on DragonFly in an effort to trace it down, and the problem disappears. The options are displayed as they should. I have a .lload function that I use to work around caching problems in IE. Using this function in Opera does not fix the problem. I have no reason to believe, therefore, that this is a caching issue.

I have some jQuery making ajax requests that works just fine if the server returns a 200 but whenever it returns any error HTTP status none of the events fire. It's happening on more than one request to different servers but I'll just include one example for now:
var ajaxResponse = $.ajax({
url: widget.serviceURL + 'customer/createAjax?'+$('#ndBookingFormStep1').serialize(),
dataType: 'jsonp',
success: function(data, textStatus, jqXHR){
console.log(data);
if( data.status != 'OK'){
widget.message(data.status);
} else {
console.log(data);
}}})
.error(function(jqXHR, textStatus, errorThrown){
console.log(jqXHR);
}).complete(function(jqXHR, textStatus){
console.log(jqXHR);
});
console.log(ajaxResponse);
console.log(ajaxResponse.responseText );
The request gets made just fine, I can see the response in the net console in firebug and it returns the data I want with a 500 when I do not complete the form correctly. However, it does not fire either the error or the complete function when I get this status, and the ajaxResponse.responseText is undefined when it is logged to the screen. When the form is completed and the request is successfull the success function fires just fine.

I have a simple XHR request that works well in Safari and Opera but not in Firefox. I have the following code:
Code JavaScript:
function AJAX(ajaxurl, ajaxdata, ajaxcallback){
if(!ajaxcallback) ajaxcallback=function(){};
var ajaxreqobj = new XMLHttpRequest();
[Code].....
Making Firefox 3 use the standard "ajaxreqobj.send(ajaxpostdata);" does not fix the problem.
What in the world is making my simple AJAX request work in Safari and Opera but not in Firefox?

I'm using the following chunk of code to find images located in a specific span and then I'm setting the span width to equal the width of the image that's inside of it. This is for adding captions to images through an editor that our writers use. By forcing the span to equal the same width of the image, the writers can just enter whatever captions they want and don't have to worry about manually adding <br /> tags to format the captions correctly.
$('.overview-content .caption img')
// once the image has loaded, execute this code
.load(function() {
// Loop through and find all images in the overview section
[Code].....
For some reason... IE and Opera completely ignore this function. Firefox, Safari and Chrome all add the appropriate inline style to the span.

I have found a couple different code snippits that allow you to determine when a page has finished loading in an IFRAME. However, what I need is a way to determine this when it is a form that is POSTing to that IFRAME (which is on a remote web site).
Basically on my page there is a button that submits a form to another website and the target = the IFRAME. However, I don't want to actually display the content from the other site (and so the IFRAME is invisible). I just need to know when the submission is complete. As a user you can tell by watching the status bar in IE to see that the submission is still processing, but I'm looking for a more elegant way to do this (as I want to tie it into a mechnism that will visually show the user the status of the submission in real time.)

I've searched around for a while, but I can't seem to find the syntax to do this, assuming there is one. I have a page that allows users to print out maps generated by mapquest. If the user clicks the "Print" button (the one on the page) before the page has finished loading the maps, the print-outs will have errors appearing on them. I've been talking with MapQuest about the issue, and I don't think it's anything they can fix on their end. What I would like to do is create a script that unhides the "PRINT" button only after the page has finished loading. Something like this:
Code:
if (pageloadcomplete) {
//unhide print button
}
I assume there's a way to do that in Javascript, but i can't find the syntax anywhere.

Right I have a process page in php which is fairly long and complex with many options. If a certain option case is met as this ie: we've hit the Note Saved case.
// save notes against company
if ($_POST['a']=="Save Note") {
if (addnote($_POST['notetitle'],$_POST['notebody'])) {
$err = "<p id="returnresults"><font color="red"><strong>Note Saved</strong></font></p>";
} else {
$err = "<p id="returnresults"><font color="red"><strong>Failed to save note.</strong></font></p>";
}
}
I want to then wait until the page load is complete and then do the following.
document.getElementById('addevent').style.display='block';
The reason I need to wait for page complete is that the div that needs to be displayed it one of the last parts of the page rendered so triggering the above too soon leads to the div not actually being available to be shown. Now my current fail attempt at doing it was this echo "<script type="text/javascript">if (confirm('You have not yet added a call back event do you wish to do so now?')) { document.getElementById('addevent').style.display='block'; } However it doesn't display the hidden div

I was wondering if there was an event thrown after the twitter items are generated on the page. There is an example here. I cannot seem to get the li items to change after they are loaded. I have tried using .ajaxComplete, but it doesn't seem to be working. Does anyone know what events are thrown after the above code, and that doesn't need user input? You could you alter the above code and fork your own version. For ideas on examples that could be created; you could change all spaces to periods or periods to exclamation marks.

However, this currently returns 'undefined'. Is there any easy way to do this, or do I need to actually parse the XML below thing1 and manually write my own XML sub-tree?

I'm making a call to a Twitter JSON feed, and when I pass an incorrect username, jQuery's ajax complete method never gets called.
An example of a JSON response that causes complete not to be called (nor error, nor success) is: [url]
Here's my code:
Any ideas on why the complete method isn't getting called? Shouldn't this always get called?
