JQuery :: Image Slider - Hover Effects At Top Of Page
Dec 1, 2010
How to reproduce this effect in something like JQuery? Specifically I'm looking at the hover effects at the top of the page: [URL]. It looks like a custom JS file from their end, but I'd like to find something a little more mainstream that looks and acts very similarly, especially with the easing in and out of images.

I`m using a Coda Slider 2.0, but the only effects available at the moment are the one inside the jquery.easing.1.3.js file. Does anyone know about how to insert other effects, like the traditional fade?

Is it possible to use multiple JQuery Effects for navigation hover? For example, a navigation button that changes colors and shapes, such as when the user hovers over the button, the button first turns red then fades to blue...something of that nature? Or is JQuery even the right tool to do such a thing?

I am trying to implement a div containing a form drop down on hover and I have everything working except for when I try to add any sort of animation or speed to the '.show' or '.hide' effect. When I try to add speed or seemingly any other effect to the div, the select elements of the search form fires the hover event. Does this make sense?

I have a working version of a jQuery image slider that can be seen here. I am trying to implement this into a new website and have copied the code exactly but for some reason the images are not rotating or switching when the thumbnails are clicked. The new slider can be see here - I have it in a test page so that there is no possibility of any other scripts conflicting.

So, I have this menu set up that reduces the opacity of all but the hovered link. It works fine, but it's a video playlist, and I realized that I need to make sure that this style persists after the link has been clicked.I can figure out how to add a class on click, but how to combine the two? How can I set it up so that, if the link doesn't have the class .selected, the opacity will be at 0.3. Unless, of course, it's being hovered over.I'm in a little over my head here. Here's what I'm working with:
Code:
jQuery(document).ready(function() {
jQuery("#links").delegate("li", "mouseover mouseout", function(e) {

I'm trying to get the hover over image selected based on the current page. I've used an external jquery.url.js library to access file and href information. The if statement is reached correctly, but I can't get the code within it to work. Each image is stored within an anchor and, as with the hover code (included), I'm trying to change the end of its source file name from '_off'to '_on' so it's active.
$(function () {
$("img.rollover").hover(
function () {
this.src = this.src.replace("_off", "_on");
},
function () {
this.src = this.src.replace("_on", "_off");
});
$page = jQuery.url.attr("file");
$('#menu tr td a').each(function () {
var $href = $(this).attr('href');
if ($href == $page) {
$("img", this).src.replace("_off", "_on");
}});

I have a site built in CI and I have integrated a js/jq image slider into the index page. I linked all the files to the correct places but for some reason the js isnt working? Some of the fonts in the slider are controlled by js files, and they are displaying correctly, so i know the files are linked ok, but for some reason its not grabbing the code to control the slider. I am not sure if its something to do with the file structure used in ci? Is there something I need to be adding in any config files to make js work in ci? I also tried nivo slider and had similar results. and ive had no luck at all finding a slider built for use in ci....

Is there something in javascript to make sure that the page is completely loaded and the I execute a function in javascript. Because I have a web page that i have an image slider, so if I open this page in same page before (window.location="source") so the page is loading very fast, but if I use window.open, the page will open in a new window but very slow and the slide show begin but I see that the page is still loading the images, so as result no images is shown. I need to execute the function for the images slider after the page had completely loaded.

My website has a large banner, that rotates between several hardcoded images with a fading effect. (see the onmouseover demo (lower left) from DynamicDrive)
I also added an image magnifier Jquery script to the page as well.. Click on the thumbnails and the magnified image fades in from the original image to the center of the screen.
In Internet Explorer, this combo works.. the large banner stays at the back, and the magnified image, appears ontop...
BUT.. in Google Chrome (& Apple Safari) - its the opposite. The banner remains topmost and the magnified image apears above everything else but behind the large banner..
Is there anyway to force Chrome to understand which is which? I rather like Chrome and don't want to move back to IE..
PS:: I'll just quick that the whole sha-bang works exactly right in Frontpage Preview as well.. so..

I was trying to apply 2 javascript effects on one image. First, I use this Jquery effect on the image. It works like it should until I put in the light box effect (this is the one I am using. The lightbox also works, it just depends on which order I put them in the code on which one will come through.I am relatively new to javascript and I am learning as I go along. Below I inserted part of my code geared towards these two effects. I know I have everything else in the code correct (the body) because they work individually, just not put together (or maybe I have to put a line of code in the body to enable it to work?).Essentially, I want the image to be dulled out when the visitor opens the page, get brighter when they roll over it, then trigger the lightbox when they click on it.The easy option would be to use an image swap for the dull/bright mouseOver effect; however, I like the way it is done by tutorialhero.CODE
<script type="text/javascript" src="javascript/lightbox/prototype.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="javascript/lightbox/scriptaculous.js?load=effects,builder"></script>
[code].....

I have a div column that has my projects that scroll vertically on each page. I want to have a functionality where I can have the user hover over the image on the left and a column beside that will appear some text that describes the project. That text would change when they hover over a different project. I don't know where to find this kind of thing.

I've implemented a photo gallery using Galleria and jCarousel on my site, and have chosen to use custom thumbnails instead of having Galleria generate them for me from the source images.
As far as I can tell, there may be an advantage in conserving bandwidth with this method, but the page also degrades to a nice set of thumbnails that link to the larger images (which is very nice, IMO).
Everything works beautifully, however when viewing this gallery for the first time, instead of the large image fading in nicely as it does in the Galleria demo, it almost kind of "slides" the image into view like it's rendering pieces of it as it loads in the container. This is definitely an effect i would like to avoid, but I also thought that one of the benefits of Galleria was that it pre-loaded images in the background, right?
So why does my gallery appear to be loading these images "on-demand"?
Here's a link to the page in question: [url]

I have an image of a circle that is going on a landing page. I need to code it so that onmouseover, the quarter of the circle that is moused over, will change to a short line of text which is a clickable link.My idea is to use photoshop to cut the circle into 4 quarters, put each quarter into a div and line them on the page so it looks whole, than use getElementById with some css to change the index position, so onmouseover the link comes to the top.Before I get started, I wanted to run this by someone to make sure I am on the right track, or if there is a better way to do this. Maybe image mapping?

I am trying to use a program called WOW Slider, found at [URL] It's supposed to create a slider pretty easily.
I can get the slider to work great on my local machine, but when I uploaded it to my host server, it does not work.
Obviously I do not have things in the correct directories?
I have a test page of my output that's live, that you can see.
I'm asking a lot, but this slider was the icing on the cake for a site redesign that I've been working on for months. I'm sad that I have hit a glitch this close to launching. Grrr.

I'm trying to write a function to determine whether or not an image exists.
Most people recommend setting the onload event handler. That works like a
charm except that side-effective actions seem to be impossible. I can, as
nearly as I can tell, run alert and opera.postError (I test on IE, firefox,
and opera by the way). I've tried using the 'this' while in the event
handler, setting this.name, test.name, window.document.getElementById(test's
id).name. I just can't seem to find any means of using side effects inside
the event handler.
Below are several examples of things I've tried so far:

How do I make each slide image a clickable image? I'd like to link each separate slide to it's own [url]..

I created that function for an image slider:
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#gallery").click(function(){
$(this).find("li.third").fadeOut(800).removeClass("third").next().addClass("third").fadeIn(800);
$(this).find("li.second").fadeOut(800).removeClass("second").next().addClass("second").fadeIn(800);
$(this).find("li.first").next().addClass("first").fadeIn(800); $($(this).find("li.first")[0]).removeAttr("class").hide().appendTo($(this)).fadeIn(800);
});
});
Actually I want to fade in the first picture first. Than the second and at the end the third. To achieve that I changed the order of these following three lines:
$(this).find("li.first").next().addClass("first").fadeIn(800);
$(this).find("li.second").fadeOut(800).removeClass("second").next().addClass("second").fadeIn(800);
$(this).find("li.third").fadeOut(800).removeClass("third").next().addClass("third").fadeIn(800);Unfortunately it doesn't work.

The script is written in Jquery, it's a simple piece of code which I've seen on another website here [URL]. I modified the code a bit to work with a website I made for my portfolio. The problem with the code is that is works fine in firefox but it doesn't on chrome. the code doesn't break entirely but on chrome the images doesn't slide, it just jumps from image to image. here's the code
Code:
var settings = {
startingPosition : 0, //--------------------------------set starting position for images, 0 for first image
slideSpeed : 550, //---------------------------speed of slide, seconds/fast/slow
easing : 'linear', //-------------------------easing type
navigationClass : 'slider_navigation', //--------------class of navigation (the prev and next)
activeItemClass : 'slider-current-active-element', //--name of class to be added to first element
repeat : true, //-----------------------------make gallery neverending .....
Most of it works fine but I'm guessing the animate part in the problem
Code:
//the slide animation
elContainer.animate({
'marginLeft' : animateToWidth
}, opt.slideSpeed, opt.easing,
function(){
//if forward is clicked
if(opt.repeat && direction == 'forward'){
$("> :first", elContainer).appendTo(elContainer).css({opacity : 0}).animate({opacity : 1}, 400);
elPosition += imgWidth;
elContainer.css({
'marginLeft' : elPosition
});}
Here's the dummy site I made [URL]. I'm no expert on javascript so how to make the code better?
